How To Show Default Content To End User When Interent Is Disconnected

I have designed program to display live events/content(like online orders in shop) at different location. Now case is, suppose Some of Clients putting order for material and suddenly Internet gets disconnect.So what I am looking for, in this case, I want to show some default text/images to End user who is trying to put orders. I am ready to design to Desktop Application to do this, but I need inputs on how to achieve this at User end?
Here is my scenario.In default.aspx page user selects the country, state, city from drop down list, and store them in cache for further use. but when other user open the web site from other computer it shows the same country, state, and city selected by user 1. Is there any problem related to cache? I have stored data as following.

In order to have two-way communication from the server to the client, the client activates a ServerObject, then passes in its own ClientObject (which is also a MarshalByRefObject) the server uses the ClientObject to talk back to the client:

When the attach method is called, the server takes the ClientObject and stores it in a List:

The server can then call a method on the ClientObject called "SendMessage" to communicate to each client in its list:

This works great until a client is encountered that has disconnected. In this case, an error is thrown about the client refusing the connection. I can catch the error, but the problem is I cannot remove the reference to the ClientObject from the server's List. The following re-throws the "connection refused" exception anytime a client has been disconnected:
clientList.Remove(badClient);
So a couple of questions:
1- Is there a way to detect the connection state of a client without having to catch an error?
2- When I do detect a client that has disconnected, why does the attempt to remove the object from the server's list appear to "communicate" with the client (thus causing the exception to be thrown again?)

As Patrick pointed out below, doing a Remove from a list causes the List to iterate my objects and do a comparison on them (calling .Equals) - this is what caused my ClientObject to attempt to communicate again and thus throw the exception. To resolve it, I instead changed the List to a dictionary keyed off a unique ID supplied by my Client at the time of attaching to the server. Then I used that unique ID to remove the client. I never did find a direct way for determining if a client had disconnected other than catching the error.
The DataSet is a disconnected data object. Once the DataSet has been filled, the connection can be closed and the DataSet's contents can still be examined and manipulated.What does manipulated mean ? If possible, then please give me example(s) for manipulated.
I have the following placeholder in my main master page. I would like to not have to duplicate my news content in several content pages, so I choose to simply not provide this content in them, and the master page should provide its default.
When I try the following code, I get an error because newsGrid is null. I assume I'm doing this at the wrong place in the page lifecycle, but I don't know where the right place is.
I create a website with enable default content page. the default content is login page index.aspx. During testing, I found one interesting issue. If I type the URL in browser without specify the page, the site is working fine.

If I change the url with specify the default entry page, index.aspx, the login page is working correctly. The problem is, in navigate to another page, I can see one Get index.aspx request send back to server. I don't see this 200 request in the previous test. Why? is that anything wrong?
In my master page i have search option. dynamically i set the onkeydown for txtbox. but when i hot enter in my content page textbox this searchbox getting fire and displaying results.
i try using panel both master page and content page buttons. but still my master page button getting fire whenever i press enter.

I'd like to set the default content-type for web pages in my ASP.NET MVC application to text/html.
I know this can be done by adding a ContentType="text/html" to all of my <%Page%> elements, but I'd prefer to use the web.config instead. How can I do that?
Edit: I know that "text/HTML" is the ASP.NET default, but for unknown reasons Opera still tries to parse my web site as XHML unless I explicitly set the content-type in my <%Page%> element.
In one of my content page , i have two divs - div1,div2.
On page load , only the div1 will be visible. On clicking a button inside it the div1 is made to invisible and the second div- div2 is made visible.
At the page load , i want to make the button inside the div1 to be the default one. On its click i want to make the button inside the div2 to be the default one .How can i do that?
I have a default page which has a content place holder on it...It defaults to the master.aspx page. Anyroad I attempt to put the loginview there but I can't seem to resize it. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I also put an ajax control in the loggedintemplate and I can't seem to resize that properly either.

In this example, the client connects for 5 seconds every time. I wanted to hold the client longer, for about 10 minutes.
My problem is - how to detect if the client disconnected during those 10 minutes? I tried using Response.IsClientConnected but it returns true even if I close the client. There must by some inidicator since the socket gets disconnected if I close the client.
Let me start by saying I'm a newbie to this .Net development and I'm currently assigned to crack into an old ASP.NET v1.134 website source to rebuild it. The website is part of a solution consisting of 11 projects. The website project where the default.aspx is located, say projA, has a project file called projA.csproj with the url [URL] in it. There's another suspicious project file called appname.csproj I found in the same folder with the url [URL]. The website configuration file has [URL]. Now in the IIS the virtual directories for a default website called projA and another one called appname are set up pointing to the same local directory for this website. When I browse into projA in IIS the default.htm doesn't come up. When I tried to initiate a debug instance in VS .Net 2003 for this website project I have the same issue with the starting page, or any page for that matter, not showing up on the browser (IE) brought up by the debugger. I know the localhost is working because I can see the IIS page when I type [URL]. But when I type [URL] or [URL] it won't work. If I type [URL] some default page came up (I don't even know where it is but it looks similar to the default page!) but all the links on it are not working. I did some research on the web and I made sure these things are done:
1. Put localhost into the trusted zone in internet security options. 2. Used integrated Windows authentication. 3. Deleted those default websites in IIS and created new ones, albeit with the same results. 4. Made sure the correct .Net version is used in IIS website properties. I know it works because the debugger does come up with no errors. 5. The entire solution for those 11 projects is rebuilt with no errors. I also rebuilt projA a few times to make sure it's compiled correctly.
I have a question, much liket this unanswered one. I'm trying to work with the entity framework, and having a tough time getting my foreign tables to update. I have something basically like this in the DB:
Incident (table):
-ID -other fields
Responses (table):
-FK:Incident.ID -other fields
And and entities that match:
Incident (entity) -ID -Other fields -Responses (EntityCollection of Responses via navigation property)
Each Incident can have 0 or more responses.
In my Webpage, I have a form to allow the user to enter all the details of an Incident, including a list of responses. I can add everything to the database when a new Incident is created, however I'm having difficulty with editing the Incident.
When the page loads for edit, I populate the form and then store the responses in the viewstate. When the user changes the list of responses (adds one, deletes one or edits one). I store this back into the viewstate. Then when the user clicks the save button, I'd like to save the changes to the Incident and the Responses back to the DB. I cannot figure out how to get the responses from the detached viewstate into the Incident object so that they can be updated together.
Currently when the user clicks save, I'm getting the Incident to edit from the db, making changes to the Incident's fields and then saving it back to the DB. However I can't figure out how to have the detached list of responses from the viewstate attach to the Incident. I have tried the following without success:
Clearning the Incident.Responses collection and adding the ones from the viewstate back in:
Incident.Responses.Clear() for each objResponse in Viewstate("Responses") Incident.Responses.add(objResponse) next Creating an EntityCollection from my list and then assiging that to the Incident.Responses Incident.Responses = EntityCollectionFromViewstateList Iterating through the responses in Incident.Response and assigning the corresponding object from viewstate: for each ObjResponse in Incident.Responses objResponse = objCorrespondingModifedResonseFromViewState Next
These all fail, I'd like to be able to merge the changes into the Inicdent object so that when the BLL calls SaveChanges on the changes to both the Incident and Responses will happen at the same time.
This is my scenario. I have a couple of content place holders on a Master page which by default are empty.Two of the content place holders are laid out side by side. I'll call one MainContent and the other SidebarContent. What I'd like to see happen is if a child page has content in the SidebarContent, the width of the MainContent should be adjusted accordingly.Is there a way to determine at runtime from the Master page if the calling child page has populated the SidebarContent?How do I go about this, if possible?
I need to show "5 chars long" text in password textfield. When user clicks on password textbox, then this default text should disappear and it shows "*" when new text is typed. Is that possible? I can do this with normal textbox. But with password mode?
We are working on an aspx site that we would like to not show users until we are ready to launch. The Default.aspx seems to have more "power" over my index.html file. All I would like to do is show the index.html by default and when working on the site, we can navigate to Default.aspx and work from there.
