View 1 RepliesI just upgraded from VS2008 to VS2010, and now my web deployment project keeps rebuilding constantly. Even if I have a WinForms application set as the startup project and hit Ctrl+F5 to run it, the web deployment project rebuilds every time I hit Ctrl+F5. It didn't do this in VS2008. Does anyone know what's causing this?
View 1 RepliesAfter publishing the console application. We changed few connection strings related values in the app.config file, but the values changed is not been reflected in the published version.
What might be the cause for not reflecting the values which has been changed ???

We have an application that is already deployed in the production environment. And currently it is using Dundas evaluation version. We tried updating it to the licensed version by simply pasting the dll file. but we got the error message as "The file has not been pre-compiled and cannot be requested".

Is it ok to change the config file after publishing a site? I use shared hosting. It would be nice to do things like change connection strings and smtp settings with out having to republish the site.

i need to know how and where i should store the connection string permanently which will be used lator to connect to database.
Error Description while browsing the website under IIS "The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy. To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file." Initially I deleted the virtual directory, created again, set the permission to anonymous, set the browse and execute permissions, no solution. Then after doing many trials, I found out the basic problem reading the error "not allowed by the security policy". In web configuration file if we set the security policy to Fully Trusted, then problem solved and application working fine. or Set the trust level to the main configuration file in he "C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFrameworkv2.0.50727CONFIGweb.config"
View 1 RepliesI have created an application which runs fine in VS2010.Now i am trying to host that application using inetmgr. When i try to browse the page from inetmgr content view then i get the "Parser Error Message: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified".If i browse the page from VS i am able to do it.I am not able to host the app. may be the reason is the above stated error.
View 1 RepliesHow do you go about changing your asp.net version from asp 2.0 to asp 3.5 ?
View 2 RepliesI have a framework 2.0 asp.net website, I want to change it's framework version to 3.5. Is it possible to do this manually from web.config file? I don't want to change from visual studio property pages. I need to change from web.config, what should I do?
View 2 RepliesVisual Studio 2008 I have web application in production where Web project is using Business project (.dll). Now i have made some changes in Business and need to move, say business.dll, to production. I am changing the version number of new business dll. While deploying it is giving error (System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly... ) and web project is not able recognige business.dll becuase version has changed now. I do not want to release web project as there are no changes there.
View 1 RepliesI have source-version of project and i need to deploy it on IIS. General project it properly deploy using VS2008, but issue is, if new revision is created then i need to point new source to deploy web-site. In this case i need to remove created virtual dir for previous version. Is this possible to toggle virtual directory between two sources. I think one solution is to change virtual directory path to new one.
View 3 RepliesI have been struggling with this for days now. Most of my clients run IE 8, but I got issues with two of them. In my app I use the Majorversion to enable some controls on the webfrom. However, at these two clients the majorversion returned is 7 instead of 8.
I have disabled the compatibility mode of IE 8 so it runs in IE 8 mode. Furthermore, I addes an app_browser folder to my application and putted in a ie.browser file with the correct information. This doesn't solve the problem however. It still returns IE 7 as browser instead of IE 8.
The UA-string however is correct. when I visit a testsite with this same browser on the same workstation, I get the correct browser values. So it is a local thing. I still don't understand why the file in the app_browser folder is not working.
I just created this folder on the already existing application folder and putted the browser file in it. That should be enough. Isn't it? My application is a compile webapplication.
I have developed a small website which is working on SQL server.. And also found Deployment process which is working well in my system. But my actual need is when I am deploying a project there should be some time limit to work that particular application like a trial version to give demonstration to others.
how to deploy a project like a trial version....
I currently have the .net framework version 3.5 installed on my computer. Are there any known drawbacks to instyalling version 4?
View 5 RepliesHere is my problem: But i had searched few forum on that, the problem is framework version. However, all the while the pc is using same framework v1.1.4322. After i compile the dll at folderA for example, the i copied it to folderB due to using same dll. Just that, cause the below error.

We have a web application(.net 3.5 on IIS7) which is currently referencing a specific version of a third party dll (abcpdf6.dll). I would like to move this reference from the project to the web.config and assign it an alias so when a new version becomes available I can just change the reference in one place.
View 1 RepliesMy Exe had a reference to a older version of a dll in the GAC both old & new versions are present in the config file i have given the binding redirect setting to refer the new version of the dll , thouhg when exe is running it is still refering to the old version , could some one shed some light here.
View 1 Replieshow to register same name assembly but different version in webapplication
View 1 RepliesI have 3 dll's compiled and put inside the bin dir of a website. They were referenced some time ago on a different computer with their respective source code.
I don't have the original source code for this version (all 3 dlls are like one app. They use each other functions) but I do have a newer version.
What I wanted to do was to completely remove any reference for the old version and just add a reference to the new version dlls. I tried:
Rightclick on dll---> delete , tried: look inside project file, sln, anywhere - web.config etc. to find the reference ..... Nothing. The old dlls come back after I recompile.
One of the new dlls has a different name than the same one in the older version. When I replace the older versions with the new ones and add the third dll with the different name and delete the older one and recompile. The older one just comes back from nowhere, and I get an error that I have some functions running both on the older dll and the newer one and it won't compile.
How do I completly remove the older version so I can start over with the new one?
We are developing a web site and in this site we have a link to a clickonce deployed application. This is a direct link to the executable (Remote share execution). For this to be possible the client must have .NET framework SP2 installed. The problem is i need to get the SP version of the clients machine. I can access client information using Request.UserAgent but this doesn't have a clue about the service pack.
View 3 RepliesI need to know if .net 4.0 is installed on server or not. How can I do that?
View 6 RepliesI'm looking for good approch for below requirement. I would appreciate if someone can guide me on this.
I would like to write a script,
1. which checkout the latest files from SVN
2. Then compile the solution files.
3. If some compilation errors, need to send a mail.

All I want to write the script to know is, can latest version of SVN tree compile successfull or not.
