Initiate Properties Automatically Using StructureMap

Oct 18, 2010

If i have N numbers of classes on each of them i am declaring for example property which contains some app setting values from config file.

public static IAppSettings AppSettings { get; set; }

I want to populate this property automatically when class is created.

I am thinking to achieve this goal using StructureMap.

I want to "say" somehow only in one place, that if class contain this property populate it.

ASP.NET/ASP.NET MVC, ConsoleApp/WinForms

Child Properties Not Initialised Automatically With RIA?

Feb 2, 2011

Within my project I have created an Entity Data Model, complete with relationship links between the various tables. I notice when I do so, Visual Studio automatically creates a property named after this link.

I have then generated a Domain Service Class based on this data model, and once again within this a property is generated representing the link, ie within my ChemicalApplication class there is a Chemical property of type Chemical.

The trouble is, within the silverlight client, I can access the ChemicalApplication data object no bother, and can see the ChemicalApplication.Chemical property, but as soon as I try to access it, I recieve an error that the property is not initialised.

Do these auto-generated child properties not automatically initialise? If not, how do i manually assign a value to them within the RIA Domain Service?

Initiate JavaScript Callback With MVC2 Using RenderAction

Mar 26, 2010

I am building a dashboard where I am iterating through a list of controls to render, and I need to initiate a general callback both after each control and after they are all completed. I was curious what the best way to handle this is. I can get the control specific callback fired off by placing myUserControlCallback(); in the user control itself. I'm just not sure how to run something like allControlsRendered().

Different StructureMap Configurations For .NET And IIS-Hosted WCF?

Jan 26, 2010

I just followed this example to bootstrap WCF with StructureMap. At the same time I've been using StructureMap in my ASP.NET application (IIS6), which is initialized in Global.asax.Application_Start().The two configurations have different requirements. Unfortunately, StructureMap is configured statically, and contrary to my expectations it's shared between the web app and WCF. As a result, the last "Initialize()" called wins!

Is it possible to give each one its own configuration? Or is the only solution to fold them together?

Converting From StructureMap To Castle Windsor?

Mar 9, 2010

Recently, I've had some problems with StructureMap. Mostly incomplete documentation, but also they have a habit of drastically changing namespacing, object names, removing methods, and generally changing how the thing works.For now, my code is written using poor man's DI so that I can keep working on it, but I don't want to leave it that way. I took a look at Castle Windsor a while back, but never really tackled it.

With StructureMap, I would derive a custom Registry class where all the mapping is done, a custom Bootstrap class which loads one or more registry classes and initializes them, and then, call Configure on the bootstrap class in Global.asax.How does one go about setting up the matching Castle code? I also need to know how the controller factory is affected. Does Castle provide a replacement, or are we left to write our own, as with StructureMap

Downloaded StructureMap But Seems To Be Missing The Log4Net.Dll?

Mar 11, 2010

I am currently following instructions in a book to develop an application. It asks me to download StructureMap and then move the StructureMap.Dll file and the Log4Net.dll into the bin files. The problem is there doesnt seem to be a Log4Net.dll file in the StructureMap files, the only other dll apart from the StructureMap.dll is the Rhino.Mock.dll.

I'm implementing Outputcache in my application and it works fine, but the first time always take a lot to load and the next following request will be faster...

I would like to know if there is a way to initiate the page caching on the server side and serve the cached page upon the very first request, rather than have it triggered by the user one first time.

How To Set Properties That Are Available In Actions

Jan 21, 2011

In my actions, I want to pre-load the User object and set some other properties, all BEFORE the action loads. I know there are events where I can do this, but how will these objects that I set be made available in my controller's actions once the filter fires and execution is now at the action level?

example:

public actionresult SomeAction()
{
string username = this.CurrentUser.username;

I am trying to come up with the best way to get only certain properties from a type using reflection. How can I differentiate the properties from each other?

I understand that I can use binding flags or name. But say I want only a certain four properties. Would the best way be to create a custom attribute for the ones I want then loop through all of the properties to see if they have that attribute?

MVC :: Selectlists And Nullable Properties

Jan 25, 2010

I have a ASP.NET MVC view that displays a single ServiceProvider object. In this view there is a selectlist that lists one or more ServiceProviderGroup objects and uses the Id property for the value and the Name property for the text. In this list I also show a entry with a value of -1 and text of "No Provider". When the Edit[Post] method is called the Id value from the select list maps to a nullable property (GroupId) on a ServiceProvider object. When a value other the -1 is selected from the list it works as expected. But, when the value is -1, I want a NULL reference to be applied to the GroupId property during the UpdateModel call. Within the Edit method, prior to calling UpdateModel, I have tried replacing the entry within the Controller.ValueProvider with a null reference and adding a ValueProviderResult which contains a null reference, but the UpdateModel always has an issue (InvalidOperationException).

C# - Databind To Fields Instead Of Properties?

Jul 29, 2010

I'm getting a List back from a WCF service and I want to set it to be the datasource for a grid. When I databind I get the error that "Deviceheader" is not a property of someObject.

<td><%# Eval("Deviceheader.DeviceID") %></td>
That is true, it's not a property, it's a public field
public class someObject(){
public DeviceHeaderDc Deviceheader;
}

How can I databind to these fields since they are not implemented as properties? Any suggestions? I'd like to avoid writing wrapper objects with property implementations if at all possible.
