Installation :: [Q] Missing Product: Microsoft Web Application Projects?

I just installed VS 2005 on a Win Server 2003 box, and went to create a new web project. I noticed right away that the "Web" project was missing and found that the "Microsoft Web Application Projects" did not install on the server.I checked on a couple other boxes that have VS 2005 installed on them, and they all had "Microsoft Web Application Projects" installed. Does this not install on a Win 2003 box? How do I install this?

I need to create a sample project (for educational purposes) and I'm faced with the choice between Web Site Projects or Web Application Projects. This feels similar to the choice between C# and VB. My question isn't about the differences between these 2 choices, but rather which is more popular (relevant, recognizable) to the general ASP.NET community.Has anyone seen any statistics in terms of adoption/usage of these 2 different project types? I have installed VS 2008 and then i installed sql server 2005 with reporting services. But i couldn't find the Business intelligence projects template in VS 2008. Suprisingly i could find the Business intelligence project template in VS 2005 which was installed automatically when i installed Sql Server 2005 and there ware no other project types like Visual C# etc.show me a way to get the Business intelligence projects template in VS 2008.

We have developed apllication in Microsoft VS 2008 and when we opening this same application with Microsoft VS 2010. Then it's asking to convert.
So can anybody tell me what it is converting exactly. Means it's open application in Microsoft VS 2010 and running properly also. But i am understanding whats happning while converting.

I am missing this DLL reference in c:program filesSQL Server90ToolsBinn. I'm assuming that this is because I didn't install the 2005 client. I installed all of the services for 2005, the database instance, reporting services instance, SSAS and SSIS. I installed the 2008 client though, not the 2005 client, and 2008 database instance.So I assume it's because I didn't install the client, but does something else give me this DLL? Another install or a SDK or something?

having this problem of " Microsoft.Data.Entity.Design.BootStrapPackage" did not load correctly. I began to have this problem after uninstalling and re-installing my VS 2010 and because of this problem, i cannot get to work with ADO.NET Entity because the template is not even installed.

I try to install vistual 2005 on Win 7 On meantime I have net1.0 sp3 developer ;net Framework 2.0 , Microsoft Device Emulator version1.0 -ENU,Microsoft Visual J#2.0 Redistributable Package( can I uninstall This package)the studin 2005, but when I try to install the update (VSBsp1-KB926747-x86-INTL) i get hte error:The update patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be updated may be missing, or te upgrade patch may update a different version of the program, verify that the program to beupgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct Upgrade patch how to deat with this problem??

I have a asp.net application which is written in the traditional method [SqlConnection. SqlAdapter.. ..] in data access layer, I can see that every time we are making a connection and using adapters. Code is written in a very dirty manner. I have been given the task to re write the application in standard/best practice way.

I just moved to a new PC and installed VS 2010. I copied all of my websites over from the old machine and now when I open the old websites on the new machine, they do not show up in my recent projects list on the start page. New websites that I make do show up there but the old ones do not. This is very inconvenient. Is there a way to make old projects that I open show up in the list?
This brings up another question. Is there a way to make a shortcut that will open VS2010 up with a website already loaded so that I don't have to go through the file open dialog every time?

I have a multi-tiered application. I would like to publish the class libraries to UI developers to let them add to their web or windows projects to add all the functionality.
I would like to restrict access so only a certain project can be referenced. The reason is so that they do not refer to the data access layer directly and start making calls that would bypass the business logic built into the business tier.
UI->>Business Logic->>Data Access
So in other words, BL and DA are deployed as compiled assemblies. BL references DA. UI will reference BL, but I would like to strictly prevent any other project from referencing DA directly.

We have been building ASP.Net websites for many years. During this time we gathered a lot of knowledge of ASP.Net. We know what to use, a what not. One problem is still, persistently, bugging us. I hope to solve this for once and for all.
We have a fairly large solution with lots of aspx-files. All aspx-files reside in one Web Application Project. This single big WAP needs to be split in multiple smaller projects.
There are a number of ways to accomplish this, but I am still unsure what the best way would be. We use ASP.Net 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 Premium.

I created a simple .NET 4.0 WebSite through VisualStudio 2010 using the Installed Template for ASP.NET Web Site.This brought me to "Choose Location" where I chose Local IIS, then Create New Web Application.This created the template app with all of the local files within IIS.This complies fine, but Im constantly getting the HTTP 403 Error "the website declined to show this webpage"I checked IIS properties for this and its set to 4.0 and the Directory Security has Anonymous Access enabled. Allow IIS to control password is also checked.I just installed VS 2010 on my new computer, and Im trying to get this configured so I can run 4.0 apps through IIS.

I have a project that was originally created in VS2005 using .net 2.0. I currently have win 7 machine and vs2008. When I try to compile the application it comes back saying that I am missing an assembly Web.Services2 Besides upgrading to 3.5 and having to rebuild most of the web services.
