I have three web forms to insert, read and edit data. I want to display single records on each page. My pages consist of textboxes, listboxes, and images. I currently achieved reading, inserting and editing using a datareader and parameter queries. I'm wondering the best way, to design web forms. Can i use stored procedures. Using stored procedures; is more secure or not, is more stable or not,

I lately installed vwd express, and including this installation I installed (automatically) also the sql express 2008.I had a problem with my vwd, and I got an advice of removing it and install again.
I removed it, and removed also the sql express. Now I understand that I probably shouldn't have done it, but I did.I also removed manually some folders that relate to the sql server (after I unistalled the sqlserver thru "add remove programs").I reinstalled the vs 2008 express, but this time it didn't install again the sql express.I entered to this page: [URL] and tried to install it by myself. It opened the installation
and after a few seconds it said that the sql was installed. Maybe it still recognizes something that was left...I entered the registry and deleted the relate files to sqlserver. I tried to install again, but still the same phenomena.I need an advice what to do. I have no problem with uninstall the vs 2008 express, and install it all over again, but I knowthat again - the sql won't be installed.I hope I gave here all the required details.

Embarrassed that I'm stuck on this I've downlaoded sqlserver express 2008 R2 and VS web developer 2010. Set up a databse wrote a mini test site and am now trying to connect to my database to fetch records back. However i'm getting the error message "Invalid object name 'customer'." (I have a feeling its running it on the master db and not my 'customerdb' but can't prove this as express doesn't have a profiler).
Here is my code;

I already have SQL Server (Developer Edition) installed on my computer. I'm learning ASP.NET by going through some video tutorials. These tutorials use VWD 2008 Express so I'm going to install that version (instead of 2010). Will the VWD installation recognize my existing version of SQL Server and connect to it properly after the install? I read something about VWD Express not working correctly with SQL Server Developer Edition.

I'm trying the above - Visual Web Developer 2008 express edition with SQL Server 2005 express using VB code behind on ASP.net 3.5 framework. I need to incorporate and amend some externally supplied classic asp pages, so switched to local IIS7 for compilation/run. I can run these pages, but am unable to amend them and have the changes reflected in what I see. Is this possible with this setup? Is there a configuration setup that I may need? Has anyone successfully done the above before?

I have just finished developing a website in ASP.NET 3.5 with database as SQL SERVER Express edition (Free one).
I am looking for a hosting provider who supports SQL SERVER Express Edition.
Most of the hosting provide RESTRICTS THE SIZE OF SQL SERVER DATABASE UPTO 200MB ONLY.
However I know that SQL SERVER Express edition can save data upto 2GB size.
tell me about a web-hosting provider who allows SQL SERVER Express edition of size 2GB ?
I am fine with shared hosting.

We are trying to install VWD 2010 on a windows 2008 server. We already have installed the 2008 version as well as SQL 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2. The Web Platform installer is not installing VWD 2010 however. At first it notified us that the OS does not allow it, after running tons of updates on the OS (some of which failed) it is still not doing it, not even donwloading it. The latest message simply asked us to post the error on the forum

I have an app that I've built with VS 2008 Pro, which I believe uses version 3.5 of the .Net Framework. I want to run this app on an older machine to test the layout with some older browsers. The site is simple static site. This older machine doesn't have version 3.5 of the framework installed.
If I install just the 3.5 Framework on this older machine, can I then run the site in the browser without having VS2008 or VWD 2008 installed? I want to tweak the css in for the older browsers.

I have been trying to fix this issue for several hours now, and I was hoping to find out if someone can shed some more light on it. I get the above error on ONLY ONE virtual root in my IIS 5.1 installation. I have other web sites I am developing in .NET 2.0 and 3.5 and they seem to work fine. This is a development workstation with only 1 user, and I get this error continuallyevery time I access only 1 of my web sites - even after rebooting the machine. It makes no difference what order I access the web sites in - this one always fails and the other ones always succeed.
Note that the web site does not use frames and the changes I made to it yesterday (just adding some javascript and a few span elements to support BuySafe's new 3-in-1 guarantee program) were very minor.OS: Windows XP/IIS 5.1Dev Environment: Visual Studio 2005/.NET 2.0Browser IIS 7.0Every page on the internet I have read about this seems to indicate it must be something with the "HTTP Keep Alive" setting. I disabled this setting but it made no difference at all.I keep full backups of my machine and I restored my OS/IIS partition from a few days ago (including the full IIS metabase), but I still continue to get the same error. The error suddenly started occuring today - I just made some updates on the web site and deployed them to production yesterday (and neither my test or production servers are exhibiting this behavior). It happened after a power failure and my UPS software forced my Lenovo T500 laptop to sleep. When the power failure occurred, both VS 2005 and a browser with this web site were open on the machine. The machine woke up and the programs were all still running, but I was no longer to access this web site.I had a problem like this years ago and I ended up rebuilding the machine from scratch. Please give me an alternate solution.Full Error Message:The page cannot be displayedThere are too many people accessing the Web site at this time. Please try the following:Click the Refresh button, or try again later. I have installed Windows 7 Professional and Visual Studio 2010 on a machine I was using VS2005 on with Windows XP. I am unable to publish to c:inetpubwwwroot. The files cannot be deleted in wwwroot or edited. I turned off read-only and am still unable to edit anything in the root even when opening something in notepad. When publishing a site every file in the directory throws the following in VS.
"Error deleting file 'what_is_a_puppymill.aspx'. Unable to delete default.aspx'. This function is not supported on this system."
