Can anyone also show me a very detailed tutorial of customizing the windows installer?
According to [URL], MVC3 should be correctly installed on a computer with .Net Framework 4.0 and Visual Studio.
But the installer doesn't work properly on Windows XP. The MVC 3 templates doesn't appear after install.
I try to install vistual 2005 on Win 7 On meantime I have net1.0 sp3 developer ;net Framework 2.0 , Microsoft Device Emulator version1.0 -ENU,Microsoft Visual J#2.0 Redistributable Package( can I uninstall This package)the studin 2005, but when I try to install the update (VSBsp1-KB926747-x86-INTL) i get hte error:The update patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be updated may be missing, or te upgrade patch may update a different version of the program, verify that the program to beupgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct Upgrade patch how to deat with this problem??

I am getting really fed up trying to install MVC 3, I have bloged about the problem here - [URL] To sum it up, after ages of digging around, I finally managed to track it down to the aspnetwebpages.msi component. I am not sure what to do next as I have tried to repair, remove, force delete as well as a few other things, but I am just getting no where. I have a normal system - I upgraded to Windows 7 SP1 yesterday, VS 2010 SP1 today and have never had any Betas installed apart from Web Matrix which I uninstalled today (after the VS SP1).

Seemed simple. I clicked on install now, downloaded and ran the Web Installer. First, ASP.Net MVC didn't install. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything twice without luck. The Web Installer insists ASP.NET MVC is already installed. Second, given a nice menu of CMS dbs to try, I tried Atomz, N2CMS and Umbraco. Atom won't work with the net version downloaded via this download, so why is it even included here? I could not figure out what N2CMS or Umbraco wanted in terms of user names and passwords, so those CMS's didn't install. So, what all do I really need to create a website with ASP.Net MVC? Do I need Visual Studio Express (don't we have to pay for this?). I have Win 7 64 Home Premimum.

I tried installing the asp.net package on my PC today. I had just made a fresh install of Win 7 pro 64 bit, basically a disk wipe, re-install and all Windows updates.
If I remember correctly, there was a list of 21 products to install. When it got to 19 (Visual Web developer), it stayed there with no error message for a very long time until I got tired of it and cancelled using task manager (pressing Cancel yielded no results).I then tried re-starting the PC in Safe Mode w/networking. The WPI "knew" I had already installed the other products and suggested I install Web Developer and SQL Server. This time, I did get errors, but the error log basically said that the instal program returned "1601" (install failed),
I also tried installing Web Developer only, omitting SQL server. This didn't help. suggest a patch, or alternative way of completing this install?
I just downloaded and installled the Microsoft Windows Azure SDK yesterday for the first time and I am having issues running the application as I all I am getting is 503 errors. I run Windows Server 2008 R2 on my development machine and even tested it on another co-workers 2008 R2 and couldn't even compile the application. He got this error instead "A problem occurred while trying to set the "References" parameter for the IDE's in-process compiler. Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component."
From within my Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V Virtual Windows 7 x86 enviroment, I was able to successfully build and run the Windows Azure SDK and it even showed the base ASP.NET application.So my question is, does the Windows Azure SDK for Visual Studio 2010 w/ Visual Studio 2010 SP 1 installed not work under Microsoft Server 2008 R2?
We have a website portal hosted in Windows 2003 server. For security reasons we are using different windows Login user say (xxxx) for signin other than Administrator. Now with this user (xxxx) name I installed .net Windows Application. It was working fine. For some reasons I renamed the original windows Login user(xxxx) to different say (yyyy). Now this .net Windows Application is not working with (yyyy) and even it is not allowing me to uninstall it.

I had created one table called Meta table for URL rewritting in which in addition to url details, i had stored keywords & title of Product page. Now I know how to add keywords from code behind I just never tried to scrape the data in the database for what would be the best keywords to use.
Has anyone ever done this and or know where something like this is on the web.
I can create the SQL Query and the C# code how to determine what is a bogus word that should not be included such as I could count how many times each word is shown and go for the most common words as the keywords but that would include words like "And", "Or", "It" etc... and that would not be good.
I have no problem with studying more detail about it and expect to do so I just need to get set onto the right path....
I was trying to figure out difference between keywords like Internationalization, Localization etc. and publish paper on best practice. But I got confused even on basic definitions which are so varying on internet. Following are 2 theories I found, so far. please advise which is correct?
Theory - 1
Globalization is a plan tom implement Internationalization and Localization
Internationalization - It is not implementing multiple languages, but it include activities so that Application can be made to support multi-languages and cultures in future. Like doing activities such as:
- Using nVarchar instead of varchar
- Avoiding Satic text and instead storing data to display in resource/text files
Localization - This is actual process when an internationalized application is updated with multiple languages and localization settings. For example, continuing with Internationalziation I would say activities like:
- Formatting Date, Numbers, Currency etc. using CurrentCulture class
- Adding text for different languages in files (we created during internationalization process) and customizing UI
- Using CurrentUICulture class for language conversions
- Providing user an interface to set their preferences
- Regional Settings in Administrative Panel of Windows is actually Localization
Theory - 2
Globalization - same as above Internationalization - First part of aforesaid Localization definition - Number. Currency etc. formatting (General Tab in Regional Settings)
Localization - Second part of aforesaid Localization definition - Language Translation (Language Tab in Regional Settings)

View 1 RepliesWe are working in healthcare domain and intergating various medical equipments with the web application.Earlier i was window forms control libray and embedd it into my html page but as it is a .net component so to run it on d client machine i had to set the CAS(code access security ) settings on the client machine and for that 1stly client should have .net framework which comes very windy for the client to download closly 350MB data and then do all the CAS stuff. This time i want to get rid from this method and want to use some other way to do this activity.
The major thing that i have to do i need to excute the 1 exe file on click of Button and then once ECG start recording on the client machine its binary file get store on d static path on client machine and after that i browse this file and save it on my server. Now, simply wanted that i should create one installer which can automatically install .net framwwork and do required CAS settings automatically. second thing is how can i upload the file lying on machine to my server. How can i do that in asp.net 3.5?
