this is my first post and you can consider as someone with little knowlage in web development , after stuggling i figured out how to install or activate iis 7 on my vista home primeum , with asp.net 3.5 , when i type http://localhost i see the welocme screen of iis 7 , i did this steps inorder to see how a comy for my website look like after i recieved it from the developer by email. i put a copy in a foler in the c://inetpub/wwwroot
in adminstrative tool i opend iis7, under site i right clicked on (default web site) and i clicked (add to virtual directory )where i definded allias and the path for my website folder ( where i stored it in D drive), then i open firefox browser and typed[URL] , nothing showed up in the brower and there was error message, i tried to choose add application instead of add to vitual directoy and defined the allian and path again, guess what i could see my website .
now i recieved the final copy of my website from the developer and i'm so eager to see it after making the impovement , i can not open it , i repeat the same steps as above , i could not open it and i do not know what is wrong or what i missed ,
the error massage i recieved is as follow

I just reinstalled my computer, using win7, VS2010 framework 4.0 but when I run my project I cannot connect to local host, it just doesn't find anything. Whats wrong?
I have an ASP.NET project (VS2008 on Windows 7 with either webforms, MVC1, or MVC2 -- all the same result for me) which is just the File->New hello world web project. It's using the default ASP.NET development server, and when I start the server with F5, the browser never connects and I get a timeout. I tried to debug this by telnetting to the development server's port while it was running, and I got the same result:
C:Usersfarmercs>telnet localhost 54752 Connecting To localhost...Could not open connection to the host, on port 54752: Connect failed I can see in the system tray that the server thinks it's running, and a netstat -a -n command shows that there is indeed an active TCP listener on that port.
This worked in the not-too-distant past, and I could work on web projects using the development server. One thing that has changed since then was that I installed the Microsoft Loopback Adapter to accommodate a local development Oracle installation. I'm not sure this is the problem, but it seems a likely culprit.
I also tried to hit the port using the server name itself (http://mycomputername:54752) but with the same result. So, what could be blocking me from connecting? And if it's the loopback, then what is a good way for me to retain my ability to connect to my development Oracle server while still being able to use the ASP.NET development server?
3) Finally adding the reference of service contract project in a Hosting project (Console Application) with complete configurations.
I am adding one more windows app project as a client. When i am trying to add the service reference using the address "http://localhost:8000/Tasks", VS 2008 displays the below error.
There was an error downloading 'http://localhost:8000/Tasks'.
Unable to connect to the remote server
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8000
Metadata contains a reference that cannot be resolved: 'http://localhost:8000/Tasks'.
Could not connect to http://localhost:8000/Tasks. TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8000.
Unable to connect to the remote server
No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:8000
If the service is defined in the current solution, try building the solution and adding the service reference again.
I have installed Windows 7 Professional and Visual Studio 2010 on a machine I was using VS2005 on with Windows XP. I am unable to publish to c:inetpubwwwroot. The files cannot be deleted in wwwroot or edited. I turned off read-only and am still unable to edit anything in the root even when opening something in notepad. When publishing a site every file in the directory throws the following in VS.
"Error deleting file 'what_is_a_puppymill.aspx'. Unable to delete default.aspx'. This function is not supported on this system."
we know that we can access previous page url in asp.net by using Request.UrlReferer. So i also used this property to access prev page url in my web application. But my problem is that all works fine in http:// and problem starts when move web site in production server with https:// instead of http:// So can any one have idea what to do to get Request.UrlReferer in https:// ? problem occurs all the other browser not in IE ( problem in : Mozzila,Safari,Chrome....)
I've written a small MVC application and am having trouble deploying it to localhost. I use the publish feature when I browse http://localhost this is what I get: HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this dir A sample aspx page is rendered correctly.
I've tried the aspnet_regiis -r I've made sure ASP.NET is installed in Windows Features. The web platform installer tells me MVC 2.0 is installed. I did install VS2010 first and then IIS so I suspect that maybe causing problems but in the past aspnet_regiis -r has fixed that.
i redirect a page from http to https using http module begin request handler .i am calling webservice using ajax but it is saying webserice not defined .which otherwise works fineits work fine when rediect page in page_load instead .but i need to add function for https to http in every page. i still not know why ajax is not working when i use http module for redirect
I am having problem redirecting error when error is http 500 or http 403 locally running this site there is no problem it gets redirected to my errorpage.aspx. But when deployed at server, it does not get .tried putting try and catch in page_load and in global.asax and I have set Application_Error to redirect to that page and also set <customErrors defaultRedirect to that page also
installed IIS on WinXP and created a virtual directory, placing all required files and setting access permissions for it, but I keep getting the error message:
[Code]....
It happens for every page I try to load, even the simplest "Hello world" ones. Could you give me some pointers on this one ?
I have read quite a few posts about this error message but unfortunately none of them addresses my particular problem. The error message is: HTTP Error 404.17 - Not Found
The requested content appears to be script and will not be served by the static file handler. The application was fine until it was migrated to VS2008 and targeted to .Net 4.0. For the sake of debugging, I changed the web page (default.aspx) to simply diplaying the word "Test".The following details do not make much sense because the the corresponding handler of an ASP.Net page is StaticFile
i see that my site is a little slow in my localhost it is fast but in the server not but i see that videos are displayed without problems so i dont think that is from bandwith but i am not sure which are the main things that make a page go slow? sessions can be one of that?? or connections with database??or something else?
I have a simple asp.net web page that lists and inserts records into an access db. It works fine by pressing F5 to run in the VS 2008 IDE (Localhost:port) but won't work when it is published. The log shows this error 500 0 0 207.
We have a windows service running that listens on e.g. port 9999. Now we want to be able to send a TCP packet through an ASPX page to that service. Both the service and ASP.NET WebApp run on the same server.
The problem is that this works fine on my dev machine (without IIS though, through Visual Studio Web Server) and on our older Win 2003 Server machine. But it doesn't work on our new Win2008 R2 Server. The packet just won't arrive.
I'm absolutely clueless as to what the problem may be. I'm the only one wanting to send TCP packets through an aspx site.
What I have tried so far:
1) Changing the identity of the corresponding Application Pool
2) Disabled the Firewall
3) In web.config set the trust level to "Full" (which seems to be default anyways)
I am getting an error saying "ASPNET account is not present in this machine" when I try to install Sitecore on my machine after I installed visual studio 2008..
- My machine is running on windows XP sevice pack 3
- I installed Visual Studio 2008 and .NET framework version 3.5 SP1 on that machine
- I can see that ASPNET User group account Under Users and Groups and it doesn't have "Account is locked out" ticked under general tab
- Also I ran aspnet_regiis -i many times but didn't help; actually I red in one post that I should delete ASPNeT account first and run the script but still didn't help
- when I view http://localhost on IE I can view the ASP home page without any problem but Firefox asks me to enter user name and password.
So bit the bullet and installed vs2010 finally. However, when loading an existing vs2008 project, I am getting this error: "The project type is not supported by this installation." the only thing special about this project is that it's a "web application projects" type. what I've tried so far are these steps, but none of these solve my problem:
(1) run "devenv /setup" (2) regsvr32.exe "%ProgramFiles%Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7IDEProjectAggregator.dll"
I have created a MSI file for my windows service but at the time installtion it is prompting set Service login for login name, Password and confirm password. So I am not able to install that service.
