I have created a MSI file for my windows service but at the time installtion it is prompting set Service login for login name, Password and confirm password. So I am not able to install that service.

- My machine is running on windows XP sevice pack 3
- I installed Visual Studio 2008 and .NET framework version 3.5 SP1 on that machine
- I can see that ASPNET User group account Under Users and Groups and it doesn't have "Account is locked out" ticked under general tab
- Also I ran aspnet_regiis -i many times but didn't help; actually I red in one post that I should delete ASPNeT account first and run the script but still didn't help
- when I view http://localhost on IE I can view the ASP home page without any problem but Firefox asks me to enter user name and password.
Net Framework 2.0 Net Framework 3.5 and above, but not addobjects that I use when I use ajax added. Why can not I add the NetFramework 2.0.

However, when loading an existing vs2008 project, I am getting this error: "The project type is not supported by this installation." the only thing special about this project is that it's a "web application projects" type. what I've tried so far are these steps, but none of these solve my problem:
(1) run "devenv /setup"
(2) regsvr32.exe "%ProgramFiles%Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7IDEProjectAggregator.dll"

Why am i getting Config_ASPNET_Detect: ASP.NET installation (not found)?
I've encountered a problem while installing Visual Studio 2010 on Windows 7, I've tried to modify the privileges of the destination folders to no avail, I've also tried to delete everything related to it with a removal tool. The problem is that the installation is always unsuccessful at the same point, providing me a Blue Screen of Death (twice) and the following error message (infinite amount of occasions):

have a problem when published web application in IIS.
First of all, I converted my web application from 2008 version in 2010 version of visual studio, but I didn't change the framework, so framework is 3.5. This application is writen in c#.net.
I published it succesfully in IIS. The problem is that this application run , but when I try to login , it remain in the same page , so I cant login ,cant go inside my application. It seems like the server redirect the browser in the same conten page.
am using a windows service created by me it works fine in debug mode.I have created a setup for installation of windows service and installed it on the same machine.For testing i am creating a notepad file in c:\temp123.txtIts working gr8 in debug mode but not working when installed using a set up . also i have used same set up on another machine.Its not working thr as well.What can be the reason.Note:- two weeks back i have checked it using installer on another machine it was working, but suddenly now its not working any where.
View 10 RepliesI have been trying to fix this issue for several hours now, and I was hoping to find out if someone can shed some more light on it. I get the above error on ONLY ONE virtual root in my IIS 5.1 installation. I have other web sites I am developing in .NET 2.0 and 3.5 and they seem to work fine. This is a development workstation with only 1 user, and I get this error continuallyevery time I access only 1 of my web sites - even after rebooting the machine. It makes no difference what order I access the web sites in - this one always fails and the other ones always succeed.

If I install visual studio 2005 service pack 1 on my local develop machine (I already have vs2005 but without servicepack)
Do i need to install anything on the server that I will deploy the webpages on ? (.net framework 2.0 already installed on server)
I know that if i install .net framework 3.5 I also need to install 3.5 on the server but what about all these service packs?

View 3 RepliesMy web site seems to be running quick. I have not deployed my web site yet, so I am the only one using it right now. The problem I have is if I am testing out the site and then I stop using it for a short period of time, when I come back the web site takes about 8-10 seconds to startup again. I did not rebuild the site I just simply stopped using it for a short period of time. It seems like after a short period of time I have to 'wake it up' again. Is this normal? How can I prevent this?
View 2 RepliesI just recently installed VS 2008 on my workstation. I tried creating a simple web site just to check if the installation was fine. The project compiled without error but when I tried running it, the Macromedia Dreamweaver software is being launch. It tried it several time and it's all the same.I remember during the installation there was an option that was displayed asking me to select Designer or Coder. Since the default is Designer i just click next.
Is there a way to stop launching dreamweaver from VS 2008 every time i try running the web project? Is because I selected "Designer" during the installation?

I just finished setting up the environment for an ASP based web app on a Windows Server 2003 machine, IIS 6.0, ASP.NET 4.0., with custom service account.This is not a domain based setup, so I have created mirrored logins on both servers (WEB server and SQL Server 2005). Everything works just fine except the fact that every time I try to browse the main page, a login pop-up window will request login password confirmation. I tried many things so far. Making sure IIS is in NTLM Authentication mode, checking access rights for the local login I created, workarounds I found on MSDN, etc.
This happens only if I change the Directory Security to not allow anonymous access (Authenticated Access - Integrated Windows authentication only). If I keep both, or only anonymous, everything works fine.Is this the intended behavior? Am I doing something wrong here?I already tried everything I found on MSDN regarding these types of errors. If I do not enter a password for three times in a row, the error says "HTTP Error 401.1 - Unauthorized - Access is denied due to invalid credential."

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good login stored procedure that can be freely used and features login limits and so on (basically a good one) With my limited SP knowledge, I've tried to create one myself, I haven't completed it yet as I'm not sure on how to compare the last login attempt time against the current time (it's in the comments).

View 5 RepliesI am currently using VS2008 SP1, working on an ASP.Net project. The project was in 2.0, during first time I run it in VS2008, wizard asked me if I want to upgrade to v3.5, I clicked no. Later on in the project's property page, I set the 'Target Framework' to v3.5.
However, when I add this code to my project,

it returns "2.0.50727.4927" Why?
