Every time I click the start Debugging button on the toolbar, or select it from the menu, I get the message:
"Unable to start the program 'http://localhost:1098/NTTC'.
When i try to run my web application in visua studio 2008 a error window comes out that says: Unable to start program [URL]. The system cannot find the file specified. I googled but not got the solution for this problem. I have VS 2005 and VS 2008 both on my machine. I also unistalled VS 2008 and reinstalled it but that does not solve the problem.
View 5 RepliesI have recently installed VS2008 standard edition after using VS2008 express and VS2010 Express (on this same laptop) running Windows 7 Build 7100.
On clicking "Debug" the error appears:
"Unable to start program
[URL]
The debugger is not properly installed. Cannot debug the requested type of code. Run setup to install or repair the debugger."
This is for a Web Site - File System originally created in VS2008 express.
When debug a project, then error message show:
"Error while trying to run project : Unable to start debugging on the web server. The project is not configured to be debugged."
I am getting an error "Unable to start debugging on the web server..." while running as web application in VS2005. But the error seems only for this application. I created a test application, both in VS2005 and VS2008, and found no issues in running these applications.

View 2 RepliesI am getting this error, without any further details, when attempting to debug my ASP.Net project in VS2010. There are other developers using the same tools and code who are not having this problem therefore I know the problem is not in the web.config file. I have found several suggestions when googling the issue and tried them all to no avail. I uninstalled and re-installed VS2010 along with the .Net 4 framework. I made sure Anonymous as well as Windows authentication is enabled in IIS. I uninstalled and reinstalled IIS. I am at a loss. I can attach to the process and debug the ASP.Net code that way, but what I really need to be working on is a Silverlight app that is called from the ASP.Net and the breakpoints don't work in Silverlight when I attach to the process manually.
View 3 RepliesAnybody else find the web page editor for Visual Studios (2008) to be horribly buggy? Almost every other time I try to debug a program, it sputters around for a minute or two, and then I get this error: Unable to Start Program [URL]. Element not found. Sometimes it happens two or three times in a row, and each time it leaves a hung browser I have to go and end the process for and then try again, so it can get up to 10 minutes at times just to get the damn debugger going. Really frustrating, especially when it's at the end of the day and I'm trying to finish things up.

I have downloaded the power commands.
When I double click the power command extension.
It Shows me the Message " The extension is not installable on any currently installed products".
I have used Visual Web Developer (versions up to 2010) with no problems for several years. Starting last week I am no longer able to run or debug any ASP.Net application locally. I am running Windows XP, IIS 5.1, IE8, Visual Web Developer 2005, targetting .Net 2.0. I am not able to Start Debugging or Start Without Debugging for any project. When I attempt to Start Debugging, IE browses to [URL] instead of to the project I am attempting to run. When I Start Without Debugging, IE opens to about:blank and then when I close that window another IE window opens to [URL]
Maybe irrelevant, but I had the same problem with IE7 and VWD 2010 (versus IE8, VWD 2005). IIS is set to .Net version 2.0. I have the same problem whether I add a virtual directory to my project in IIS or not.
I used to have nice development environment at XP for .Net web application development. I have now installed Windows 7 and going to take it as my new machine. I already installed VS2005 and I'm able to
build a project. IIS is working fine and I'm able to open the web application in the web browser. Windows firewall is Off.When I click Start Debuggin on Visual Studio 2005 on Windows 7 I get following error:Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to connect to the web server. Verify that the web server is running and that incoming HTTP requests are not blocked by a firewall. What could be wrong? Something to configure in the IIS?

I have just installed IIS manager version 6.1 build 7600 and visual studio 2010 (latest additions of both).
I have followed all the instructions and given the correct permisions ect for IIS to work with my directory. I have a helloworld website that has worked via the localhost server many times, but almost hourly something happens to the settings in IIS and it starts throwing errors.
The current error copied below. Basically I am wondering a few things...
1. Why does my IIS constantly do something so that it works one minute and then it wont the next (this is with an identical helloworld.htm file so I know it is not something I am doing with the file that is messing it up).

I get this error when I hit F5 in VS 2008. I have checked that Windows authentication is enabled on the site and it is. I can mannully attach the debugger to the IIS process and it works. What could be wrong? I have tried alot of things without success.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to debug my web application on my localhost machine in Visual Studio 2010 and I keep getting this error: "unable to start debugging on web server. The Microsoft Visual Studio remote debugging monitor(MSVSMON.exe) does not appear to be running on the remote computer."
Is there a way I can turn this off as I'm not trying to make any attempts debugging remotely.
So I have visual studio solution, it contains several projects, It was done by other. one of them is asp.net web application. others are data access and business logic C# projects.
When I open solution and want to view web pages from asp.net web application I get error

I am facing a problem ' HTTP/1.1 500 Intenal Server Error' while I want to create a new project of Visual Studio .NET.
It's running on VS 2003 which is quite old now rather than VS 2010 already came out.
I've tried to re-installed the aspnet account by running 'aspnet_regiis -i' and then reset the iis, and the result is nothing
I also tried to reinstall the IIS and VS 2003. And currently I'm still facing the same problem.
My project works under VWD2010 but when I click the Configuration tools at Solution Explorer, nothing happens unlike under VWD2008.
The configuration developement port is running and accessing it only gets me this error, [:(]

I have a VS2010 project that I want to move back and forth between an x86 and an x64 machine. On the x86 machine, several assemblies are located in Program Files, and the path of the assemblies are shown as c:Program Files...... When I move this project to the x64 machine, the same assemblies are located in C:Program Files (x86).... Is there a way that I can confugure VS2010 so I don't have to manually change the path when I move the project from one machine to another?

Click Help for more information. Auto-attach to process [8360] w3wp.exe' on machine 'DELL' failed. The weird thing is that I haven't done special changes to my IIS.

It was working fine till yesterday[i.e., It compiled and also i could run it using the asp.net development server by pressing ctrl+f5] and today when i tried to run it says "unable to connect to asp.net development server". I tried to reinstall visual studion 2008 and even now its not working. Also when i go to websites n asp.net configuration option it say the same error "unable to connect to asp.net development server". I absolutely no idea about why this error popped up. I got my project demo. day after n how can this be set right.
