Jan 8, 2010this is my first post and you can consider as someone with little knowlage in web development , after stuggling i figured out how to install or activate iis 7 on my vista home primeum , with asp.net 3.5 , when i type http://localhost i see the welocme screen of iis 7 , i did this steps inorder to see how a comy for my website look like after i recieved it from the developer by email. i put a copy in a foler in the c://inetpub/wwwroot
in adminstrative tool i opend iis7, under site i right clicked on (default web site) and i clicked (add to virtual directory )where i definded allias and the path for my website folder ( where i stored it in D drive), then i open firefox browser and typed[URL] , nothing showed up in the brower and there was error message, i tried to choose add application instead of add to vitual directoy and defined the allian and path again, guess what i could see my website .
now i recieved the final copy of my website from the developer and i'm so eager to see it after making the impovement , i can not open it , i repeat the same steps as above , i could not open it and i do not know what is wrong or what i missed ,
the error massage i recieved is as follow

Aug 4, 2010I inherit an ASP.Net web site from my predecessor, it does not have a .csproj file or .sln file and it's not controlled by version control system. I install SVN server from CollabNet and use AnkhSvn as client since it integrates with VS.Net well, but when I try to open a subversion project, it must be a solution or project, can not be a website, are there any workarounds?

Apr 20, 2010I started working on an Asp.net MVC website using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 a while ago. Just recently, I managed to get my hands on a copy of Visual Studio 2008 Professional (through DreamSpark ). I installed the Service Pack, and also the MVC2 files for Visual Studio.
However, now I can't open my project anymore. When I try to open the solution in Visual Studio, it tells me that the project type is not supported. Does this mean that I have to resort to using VWD Express again? Is there perhaps some way that I can edit the project file so that it will load and compile correctly?
Note: I installed MVC2 through the Web Platform Installer, and it says that it installed successfully. However, I notice that MVC references in my unit-test project don't seem to be resolved either - is this perhaps because MVC2 isn't actually installed properly?

Apr 22, 2010We have an internal ASP.Net 3.5 application that opens Pervasive SQL databases, reads the data, and then closes the connection. Unfortunately, when the user exits the application, and even when they close their browser, the w3wp process seems to be holding the PSQL database connections open, which is causing licensing issues for us. I would like the w3wp process to release the database connections once the last user has exited from the ASP.Net application. How can I get w3wp to release the connections?
Someone told me that the Powershell command, "gps w3wp | kill" will stop the w3wp process. Is there any way I can automate this, so that the process will be killed automatically when the last user exits our ASP.Net application?

Sep 19, 2010I created a simple .NET 4.0 WebSite through VisualStudio 2010 using the Installed Template for ASP.NET Web Site.This brought me to "Choose Location" where I chose Local IIS, then Create New Web Application.This created the template app with all of the local files within IIS.This complies fine, but Im constantly getting the HTTP 403 Error "the website declined to show this webpage"I checked IIS properties for this and its set to 4.0 and the Directory Security has Anonymous Access enabled. Allow IIS to control password is also checked.I just installed VS 2010 on my new computer, and Im trying to get this configured so I can run 4.0 apps through IIS.

Jan 26, 2011 have a problem when published web application in IIS.
First of all, I converted my web application from 2008 version in 2010 version of visual studio, but I didn't change the framework, so framework is 3.5. This application is writen in c#.net.
I published it succesfully in IIS. The problem is that this application run , but when I try to login , it remain in the same page , so I cant login ,cant go inside my application. It seems like the server redirect the browser in the same conten page.

I am trying to test this web site at home and I have a few computers running the website. To connect to the website I would type this into the address bar http://192.168.0.200:8080 or I would typehttp://192.168.0.201:8080. However when I transfer my site from one computer to another the web browser can no longer read the cookies. I would like to set up a home DNS server and have the computers in my house access the site like this w1.MySite.com and w2.MySite.com instead of http://192.168.0.200:8080 or I would type http://192.168.0.201:8080 so I can test if my cookies are working accross subdomains. how to set up a local DNS server so I can do this?

Feb 6, 2010I have created an ASP.NET database application using SQL Server express on one of my home network PC's. I can access SQL Server Express from the other PC's (using SQL Server Authentication) so I know it is set up ok for network access. I can run the web site on the host PC under IIS & everything works ok.
When I try to access the application from another PC using http://192.168.0.8/TestApp/Default.aspx it is not available. I can ping 192.168.0.8 & it is accessible.
why I can not view the web site from another PC on the network?
