Installation :: Visual Studio Has Detetcted That The Specified Web Server Is Not Running?

I was working with very old version of .net 1.1 . I need to compile the solution. So when I try to open the solution using visual studio 2003.I am getting below error.visual studio has detetcted that the specified web server is not running asp.net version 1.1. You will be unable to run ASP.NET applications or services.To resolve this problem, change the status of ASP.NET 1.1 to Allowed in the Web Service Extension list in IIS 6.0. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Internet Information Services (IIS).
Click Web Service Extensions. In the details pane, click ASP.NET v1.1.4322 in the Web Service Extension list.
Click Allowed to change the status from Prohibited to Allowed
But I am using IIS5.1 where there is no web services extensions property ( it was introduced from 6.0)
I am a programer really new to all ASP applications and stuff. I have a server application done with VS, wich run correctly from there, but I need it to run from outside VS. I guess It has something to do with the IIS, and I already added it to the windows components, but I still have no clue how to run it.
i hv window 7 ultimate on my laptop. can any one help me on the sequence of installtion of .net 2.0, .net 3.5 and sql server 2005/2008.means which set up should i run first on my system so that it installed properly.i also want SSRS on my laptop. how i can installed that. because i hv already installed sql server 2005 but SSRS in not there.
I'm attempting to run/debug an ASP.NET MVC project under .NET 4.0 using VS2010's Dev Web Server. The server appears to spawn successfully and an instance of IE Explorer opens. However, the browser never seems to find the page. The browser just "spins" showing only a white page...no error message.VS is configured to randomly select a port, although I get the same results when configuring numerous static ports.The ASP.NET project is the start-up project.
I have installed VS Team System 2008 from a dvd on my computer,the setup has installed every thing but failled the installation of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.The setup terminates my this error"An error has occured during the installation,Could not install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition". Then I have tried to install sql server 2005 through SQLEXPR.exe. But this .exe file has failed the installation of SQL Server Database Services and MSXML6. Do anybody have any idea why sql server 2005 is not installing on my machine? P.S I haven't installed any other version of VS except this VS 2008.
I have VS 2008 with SP1 installed on Win XP. I have .NET 3.5 with SP1 installed When I ran and opened an existing project for the first time, I got the below error WebDev.WebServer.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. After this error, I continusly get "Unable to connect to the ASP.NET Development Server. whenever I run the website. I checked the internet and ASP.NET forum and tried all the following Making port numbers auto assign Making it to a specific port number using the Custom web server Tried creating new web site and checking Replaced WebDev.WebServer.EXE after downloading it from a website My anti virus have not blocked any websites as such I tried resetting VS settings by running devenv /resetsettings what else might be the problem?
I am looking at developing using Visual Studio 2010/2008 and SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. Should I be able to do this on Windows 7 Professional, or do you need Windows 7 Ultimate?

I am running a web application in vs-2008 on windows 2003 server.While execution of .net application, I am getting an error as"Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to connect to the web server. Verify that web server is running and that incoming HTTP requests are not blocked by firewall."
I have been trying to install visual studio 2008 in my Windows XP SP2, I followed the every trouble shoots steps provided by microsoft, but still no luck. I am working on Windows XP SP3 with VS 2008 Team System SP1. I installed VS 2010 Professional Beta 2. Although the installation reported a success, it also reported a failure of installation of Silverlight. I created a console applicaiton test project in 2010 and just tried to write Console.Writeline. But when I try to type "Console." it did not show me the intellisense. When I press "Ctrl+SpaceBar" it displays me the options correctly. Is there an issue with the installation or i have to change some options to enable intellisense.
i have been using microsoft visual studio for last 90 days and now the trial run has been expired, i uninstall everything and install everything back but it give me the same eror which is the trial run for micrososoft has been expired and asks for a products key..does anybody knows what can i do?
I installed Visual Studio 2010 Professional using custom settings and decided not to install SQLEXPRESS. The reason being is that I already have an instance of SQL Server 2005 Developer. Now, when I try to use ASP.NET Configuration (Security Tab), I receive an "unable to connect to Sql Server database" error.
Does anybody know how you change the application of my program to use the ProgramFiles64Folder in Visual Studio 2005? I have a problem where by when my 32 bit application is installed on a 64 bit Windows 2008 Server, it installs to the Program Files (x86) directory.I need it to install to the 'C:Program Files' directory. I have made sure that the application is using 'Any CPU' for its platform.

I just decided to add 2010 express onto my work computer to run along side 3.5. The install was fine but when you go to click "Obtain a registration key online" after opening visual studio it takes you to a microsoft page that errors out before loading.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 on my Windows XP Workstation.I'm simply trying to create a new website from Visual Studio via the "create website" on our Windows Server 2008 with IIS 7.0When I do this from Visual Studio, I get the error,"Unable to create website, It appears the web server doesn't have FrontPage Server Extensions Installed"OK....So I downloaded FrontPage Server Extensions and Installed it on the Windows Server 2008 that has IIS 7.0 Installed, I rebooted the server and I still get the same error when I try and create a website from Visual Studio from my XP Workstation
I already created the project on VS2008 (windows application), now I want to make it as Installation software, whcih can bring and install at another computer;
- My project are connected to SQL Server, does it accur problem or not, when I take it to install at another PC, where have no SQL server
Ive got to go back to an old web application project done in VS 2003. I know 2005 will convert it, but I've never had a lot of success with it, so I'd rather just stay in 2003 for this minor change. Anyway, my original system that I did this work on has changed too much and IIS isn't working anymore, so I decided to use an older laptop that I had just recently refreshed with XP Pro SP3. After installing IIS (and the front page extensions) then installing VS 2003, IIS refuses to work right. Any attempt to access it yields a security error. I havent even loaded my project on this machine yet, so this is a straight IIS problem.
Specifically, any access to localhost results in a login dialog being displayed for which no valid login will work. Once I cancel, I get a 402.1 error.

I ran asp_regiis -i from the 1.1 and 2.0 framework directories.
Reset iis a few times with iisreset
Altered the security settings on the inetpub directory. previously some users did not have any permissions, and the ASPNET and IUSR accounts were not added. I added them and gave any user in the list Read/Execute permissions.
I know the error is very vague, but thats what makes it so annoying. I'm drawing blanks and the only thing I can think of is that SP3 just doesn't work with 2003 any longer. I'm building a VM with a brand new SP3 install to try again and another with SP2 as we speak to see if I have any better success.
I have a web app that has an app_offline.htm file, this file is stored in source control along with everything else.
The problem I have is that each time I (or any other developer) do a get latest on the source I get the app_offline.htm file and then when I try to run the app all I see is the app_offline rather than the actual web site.
