I am a programer really new to all ASP applications and stuff. I have a server application done with VS, wich run correctly from there, but I need it to run from outside VS. I guess It has something to do with the IIS, and I already added it to the windows components, but I still have no clue how to run it.

So when I try to open the solution using visual studio 2003.I am getting below error.visual studio has detetcted that the specified web server is not running asp.net version 1.1. You will be unable to run ASP.NET applications or services.To resolve this problem, change the status of ASP.NET 1.1 to Allowed in the Web Service Extension list in IIS 6.0. To do this, follow these steps:
Click Start, point to Programs, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Internet Information Services (IIS).
Click Web Service Extensions. In the details pane, click ASP.NET v1.1.4322 in the Web Service Extension list.
Click Allowed to change the status from Prohibited to Allowed
But I am using IIS5.1 where there is no web services extensions property ( it was introduced from 6.0)
I am running a web application in vs-2008 on windows 2003 server.While execution of .net application, I am getting an error as"Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to connect to the web server. Verify that web server is running and that incoming HTTP requests are not blocked by firewall."
View 5 Repliesmy os : win XP service pack 2my website was developed in asp.net 2.0(visual studio 2005) and then i converted into asp.net 3.5(visual studio 2008). and i added one page. it was working.now,while i am running my website,output should be like this 'http://localhoast:8799/mypage.aspx'but at first it tries the above url and then it is automatically changes the url into like this 'http://www.localhost.com/mypage.aspx'.
i am facing this problem only in firefox as well as google chrome.but i am not facing this problem if the browser is internet explorer.is there any problem with my IIS? or in the browsers?

In the folder SQL 2005 express edition there is a folder called configuration tools with has 3 applications, is this normal?
There is no other folder under SQL 2005. I tried to re-install it and the same thing happened
I'm attempting to run/debug an ASP.NET MVC project under .NET 4.0 using VS2010's Dev Web Server. The server appears to spawn successfully and an instance of IE Explorer opens. However, the browser never seems to find the page. The browser just "spins" showing only a white page...no error message.VS is configured to randomly select a port, although I get the same results when configuring numerous static ports.The ASP.NET project is the start-up project.
View 2 RepliesI have installed VS Team System 2008 from a dvd on my computer,the setup has installed every thing but failled the installation of SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.The setup terminates my this error"An error has occured during the installation,Could not install SQL Server 2005 Express Edition".
Then I have tried to install sql server 2005 through SQLEXPR.exe. But this .exe file has failed the installation of SQL Server Database Services and MSXML6.
Do anybody have any idea why sql server 2005 is not installing on my machine?
P.S I haven't installed any other version of VS except this VS 2008.

View 7 RepliesI created a simple .NET 4.0 WebSite through VisualStudio 2010 using the Installed Template for ASP.NET Web Site.This brought me to "Choose Location" where I chose Local IIS, then Create New Web Application.This created the template app with all of the local files within IIS.This complies fine, but Im constantly getting the HTTP 403 Error "the website declined to show this webpage"I checked IIS properties for this and its set to 4.0 and the Directory Security has Anonymous Access enabled. Allow IIS to control password is also checked.I just installed VS 2010 on my new computer, and Im trying to get this configured so I can run 4.0 apps through IIS.

View 2 RepliesI upgraded my vs2005 web application to vs2008, after i run the upgrade wizard,It l pop up one error which says that .net framework 2.0 is not available. I can compile the upgraded project but can not run that. I am wondering where in IIS, I can point the project to framework 3.0?

the project was upgraged to vs2008, i am not sure why it still points to v2.0. Also i looked at the project file, I already upgraded the oracle data access dll(from oracle side) to higher version, it also points to the old version.
The other issue is when i open the Solution, It prompted me to create the virtual diectory: Http://localhost/XX, I clicked yes, will the vitually directory automatically generated? If i go to the view sites/add vitual directory, if i enter VeroValueXmllister, will it automatically generate the Virtually directory? Http://localhost/XX
I am looking at developing using Visual Studio 2010/2008 and SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. Should I be able to do this on Windows 7 Professional, or do you need Windows 7 Ultimate?

1. use visual studio development server
2. use local iis web server and
3. use custom web server
i built an web application that need to work with sql server 2005, i'm using
linq to sql for my queries, and i'm using the dataclasses.dbml object.
the problem is that i can't see the database in the server explorer, so, i can't drag and drop
the tables to the dataclasses.dbml object, i understand that the application need to be rgistered
in the sql server to be able to do so and to be able to read and write to it.
I have been trying to install visual studio 2008 in my Windows XP SP2, I followed the every trouble shoots steps provided by microsoft, but still no luck. Let me give your more clarity, OS : Windows XP with SP2,
