I creating a page where our clients can view advertising images and then able to download the images in different file formats. So I need the images and the different download types all saved into the same row in the database so that when I go to display them on the page when they select a picture the right download links will be there. So here where my problem comes in, I don't know how to code it so that I can insert mulitiple file paths into the database at once. The images are saved in a table called images. The downloads are saved in a table called Image Downloads.
Here is the code for the page I have it coded to submit the images to the database but not sure how to add the rest. I have got three different sql datasources for each table not sure if that's the way to go.

I'm having a bit of an issue uploading files to a database. I'll post snippets of my code below.
The table i'm uploading to has the following structure:
[Code]....
I can upload the file using my MVC application without any errors, however in the database the file stores in CoverFileContent as "0x0000000000000000......". All the other information relating to the file, e.g. MimeType, FileName, CoverID, etc uploads correctly. I took a wild guess that this wasn't correct so I downloaded the file (created a .net MVC file downloader). It seemed to download as the correct type of file, however I when I tried to open it, it told me I could not open it. I'll post some snippets of my code so people can see what I'm doing.
CoverController
[Code]....
CreateCover.aspx
[Code]....
I have inserted breakpoints to debug the code, however coming from more of a business background I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. It seems that the array is being populated with 00000000s so I'm thinking this is a problem regarding the intake of the file.
[URL] This is the tutorial I was originally following, which I got to work perfectly. However when I rewrote it to suit my own needs (using ado.net, etc) this problem seemed to occur.

i found that for X & Y co-ordinates value of the Ajax toolkit dragPanel is very easily calculated from this article
Retain position of a DragPanel Extender after postback using ASP.NET AJAX
but i need to store the value in database and while page_load() i need to render the control as per the Co-ordinate values from the database .
From the above solution everything is fine except that i need to do it with code behind(from server side).
and i don't know a JavaScript a lot .

With the ajax file uploader, would it be possible to check the size of the image before uploading?Currently, it uploads the file to the server and then lets me know that it's bigger than the limit size.

Got a problem with regards to the file upload control on database updates. The problem is in my CMS, when a user tries to update content for a page it will add null to the fields containing the image path. What I need is for the system to check if the uploader has no image and if hasn't it has to do nothing. It can't add empty strings or null values as this will remove the original image path. Although they still need to be able to do image updates if the uploader has a file(this bits not a problem).
Here is a snipet of code to demonstrate what I'm trying to achieve.

I'd like to allow users to upload a .pdf file via the file upload control (if that's the best method), save the file to the db and then retrieve it so they can click on a link and open the .pdf they've uploaded. I've been looking for a tutorial on how to do this but keep running into methods of saving the file directly on the server in a directory, not in SQL server (using Linq and VB by the way)

I have figured out that javascript cannot obtain the filesize of a to-be-uploaded file because it is a security risk and it is not allowed access to the clients HD. But I want to see if it is possible to get the file size before uploading the file, perhaps using AJAX.
So by looking at the requests, when you click the submit button on a form that contains a input type=file, the Request actually has the filesize inside of it, so you could therefore get the first request, cancel the request there, and send the file-size data back to the client without actually uploading the file.
I want to do this via AJAX so that it doesn't post back and also without clicking the submit button. It seems impossible to create a submit request with javascript because there is no way to get the file size. But is there a way to fake a submit? How does the submit button get the information? Is there any documentation on how the submit button actually works?

I'm using the ajax asyncfileupload plugin to upload files to my server and it works fine for the first file upload but if I try to upload another file before refreshing it throws the exception "Unhandled Exception: $common is undefined".
If I add 'location.reload()' to my UploadComplete javascript method it fixes it but obviously this isn't ideal. Does anyone know how to fix this?
