View 2 RepliesI have two buttons: Save and Cancel. I have set CauseValidation = "False" for this cancel button. But when I click the button for the first time, it still causes validation while it does not cause validation if I click it again.
I tried to fix it by defining validation group for all validation controls, controls that are validated, and save button. But still the cancel button would validate when first time it is clicked.
how to fix it?
I have a LoginView element in an Update panel and use JQuery to hide the div containing the update panel when the cancel button(Html) is clicked.
It works fine normally. However, when I enter an invalid password and there is an error message displayed, the Javascript attached to the Cancel button click stops firing.

I am new to jQuery. i place the return false to stop postback, that postback is stopped, but error messages are appearing. How can disappear the message by click cancel button. I used e.preventDefault() also it not working.
here my code:

I am using a LINQ to SQL data source for a ListView and perform a validation check in the Listview ItemUpdating event:
[Code]....
This works great and keeps the user from updating the record with invalid data.However, when I hit cancel after this operation, it saves the text in the box rather than cancelling the operation. Here's my code for the update button:

Update Function:

I do not handle the cancel button event, as the cancel operation has worked fine... unless someone enters incorrect information and e.Cancel is set to true.What am I doing wrong? Is it the mixture of using the LINQ Datasource and doing my own updating?
I have an aspx page that contains a checkbox, and a button. The button is disabled by default until the user checks the checkbox. It looks like when I add the attribute enabled="false" to the button, it removes the validation. When the button is enabled, I still want the validation to work. Here is the code and markup for the different parts.
Checkbox:
<asp:CheckBox runat="server" ID="termsCheckBox" />
<label style="display: inline;">
I agree to the Terms & Conditions</label> [code]....
In my current project, I have gridview, search button, text box for search, text box, and submit button.
-I should input string in the search box then click search button.
-when click search button, it will retrieve all matches records then bind them to the view grid.
-then when I click a record in the gridview, it should bound a field to the second text box.
finally I should submit the page by clicking in submit button.where is the problem:
-the problme that I'm using jquery validation plugin that will make second text box is required.
-when I click search button will not allow postback until I write some thing in second text box.
How can I make scond text box only do validation for required field only when click asp.net submit button.
here is my code:

I want to call some web-service webmethods on asp.net submit button's click in order to validate the form regarding to some business logic and then I would like to have the button to go on its default behavior if the validation is OK.
How can I stop the aspx page to post-back (after submit button click) and continue submitting the form only if it is allowed by the 'success' function of jQuery.ajax()'s option parameter?
i am using jquery client side validation in asp.net. whenever i click any button in a page it causes validation rather than for specific button alone.
View 2 RepliesIs there a method in jQuery that I can customize an invalid validation myself instead of using jQuery plug-in validation?
For example, if the form is valid do this below.
$('form').validate();
if ($('form').valid()) {
//do something
};
But if I wanted to have a cutomize invalid method I could do this below.
$('form').validate();
if (!x == y) {
$('form').valid() = False; //[:(]
alert('Form is not valid.');
};
have a problem with the command jConfirm ..

I was wondering if there's a way to hide the cancel button on the ConfirmButtonExtender. I'd like to show the confirmbutton without it.
View 3 Repliesis it possible to have a cancel button on a LoginView control ? If so, how can this be done?
View 4 RepliesI have a linkbutton to which i am binding to the click event using jQuery, however the page still posts back no matter what i try...
According to this i should be able to use event.preventDefault However nothing seems to work and it always posts back, but i do get the alert
Here is my example
<asp:LinkButton runat="server" Text="TEST" ID="lnkTest"></asp:LinkButton>
<script>
$(document).ready(function () {
var lnk = $('#<%=this.lnkTest.ClientID %>');
lnk.unbind('click.test').bind('click.test', function (event) { alert("Click"); event.preventDefault(); event.stopPropagation(); return false; });
});
</script>
UPDATE
Okay after some further investigation it seems that this does work as expected when i run it in a standalone page, however we are using this script, and it appears that it is causing a conflict..
That script moves any href='javascript:... into the click handler, im guessing that the order the handlers are assigned may have something to do with it...
I'm building an ASP.NET 3.5 webapplication using VB.NET, and I'm having problems redirecting to another URL when using Google Chrome. Other browsers like IE and Firefox are fine.
My data entry forms all have an OK and an Cancel button, which are both handled server-side. The Cancel button just redirects back to the originating page, while the OK button will add or update a database record and then redirect to the originating page.
The redirect to the originating page is done by calling the following shared sub on a general utilities class in my appication:
[Code]....
As you can see, I've tried using the extra argument in the response.Redirect call, but that doesn't make a difference. All browsers except Google Chrome redirect fine, but Chrome does not redirect at all. When pushing the Cancel button nothing seems to happen. And when pushing the OK button, the corresponding database record is added or updated, but the redirect to the originating page doesn't happen. This Chrome redirect problem occurs only on the production server. When running the application at 'localhost' there is no problem. what might be causing this redirect issue in Google Chrome?
When the webpage is in Edit mode, I need to warn the user "Do you want to continue, You may lose you changes" with Ok cancel buttons.I want only one ConfrimButtonExtender control, and I can use some kind of delegation. If any of the Navigation links are clicked, I want to call a javascript method which will trigger the click event of the main Orginal extender button. The code works fine. When I click the any of the navigation links, the Extender controls are fired and Confirm popup is shown. But the Issue is Cancel button is not working. If I click the Cancel button, the page still navigates to other pages
View 2 Repliesi am working on an asp.net mvc 2 web app and i have ran into an issue. I have implemented client side validation using Html.EnableClientValidation() in my View page for providing the site users the ability to submit or cancel some form fields back to the server database. For this i have implemented an Html.BeginForm() along with 2 submit buttons. One with "Ok" and the other with "Cancel" text.
The ok/cancel funcionality is handled server-side from the controller action. The result is that the form fileds are client-validated when the user clicks the cancel button and this is not what he would expect.
how could avoid this issue? Of cource i could remove the submti cancel button from the form and implement it via an Html action link, but i would prefer finding a solution using the first approach.
In a VS 2005 C# web app, I've implemented change monitoring, so that if the user clicks the Cancel button after having changed the value in one or more controls, they are presented with a dialog box in which to confirm that they really want to discard the unsaved changes. I've set up a utility class, which includes the code shown below. Each of my edit pages inherits from the utility class, and in each of their Page_Load() methods I include a call like this:
EstablishCancelConfirmation(btnCancel, "Data has changed - OK to cancel and discard changes?");
i am doing simple login page and i used to required field validator to validate use
now i want to redirect this page to home.aspx after clicking on cancel button, but that two required fields validator get pop up and i get stuck in login page.
There are no errors with my Javascript. The Javascript returns false, and the form is submitted. Additionally when setting UseSubmitBehavior to false the form still submits. What am I missing to prevent the form from being submitted?
// DerivedButton.cs
public class DerivedButton : System.Web.UI.WebControls.Button
{
public DerivedButton2()
: base()
{
this.OnClientClick = "DerivedButton_OnClick()";
//this.UseSubmitBehavior = false;
}
protected override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e)
{
base.OnPreRender(e);
string resourceName = "MyControls.DerivedButton.js";

I have a web form that has a gridview with a dropdown in it. When the selects NO, I show the ModalPopUp with a comment field and that has a Save and Cancel button it. When the user clicks the Cancel button, I want the ModalPopUp to close (which it does), and reset the dropdown in the GridView to {Please Select}, right now, its keeping NO selected which I don't want if Cancel is clicked. is there anyway to accomplish this? So far I haven't found anything online showing/saying it can be done
