I have a restful controller that has your standard REST HTTP Verbs: Get,Post, Put, Delete. The problem I am having is that although my controllers are decorated to accept these verbs, when I execute my REST action, it can only hit my Get and Post methods. I have the attributes on top of the controller actions: HttPut, HttpDelete, HttpPost, and HttpGet. I also have the the override method in my forms: @Html.HttpMethodOverride(HttpVerbs.Put) When I submit my form, I get a 404 error from IIS 7.5, saying the static file handler couldn't find the resource. Strangely the same forms work in Cassini, so I think it is something in IIS7.5's setup.
What do I need to do to get IIS 7.5 to handle REST verbs like PUT and DELETE with Asp.Net MVC 3? I have already removed WebDAV and have looked through the handlers but the ones I am modifying seem to do nothing. My current setup is Asp.Net MVC 3, IIS7.5 on Windows 7.
I want to setup local domains like sub1.mydomain.dev and www.mydomain.dev on my local IIS on Windows 7 to test cross-domain things (asp.net app)... is there anyway to do that ?
We had some content restructure recently and I'd like to put in some redirect rules into web.config so bookmarks to the old pages can get routed to their new locations/pages.I tried using this approach:
But all I'm getting when I go to "[URL] is our http 404 page.Am I doing something wrong, or is the httpRedirect tag in web.config not supported in mono?
Using IIS 7.5, IIS_IUSRS is supposed to be the account to use. I get '401 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to invalid credentials' error. If I add an EVERYONE account with Read, it works. But rather not have Everyone account. Any idea why IIS_IUSRS does not work? It has Read access. Anonymous Access=enabled. Specific User=IUSR As a side, on the Basic Settings... for the site, Test Settings button says 'ok-on Authenticate' but Authorization 'cannot verify access to path'.
There are few verbs that we see in HTTP , like GET , POST , OPTIONS ..ETC ." my question is how to use the verbs while I am using my browser ... or do I have any option to use them?
I'm attempting to configure a webdav server example application [URL] to run on IIS6 (Win2003 Server). The application runs correctly on my dev machine (Win7, IIS7.5). When I attempt to map a drive to the DAV share, several requests are issued, including one OPTIONS request and two PROPFIND requests. In Fiddler, I see that these are transmitted correctly. However, the response is always the content of the default page on the site. If I look at the IIS logs, the requests are logged as GETs instead of OPTIONS or PROPFIND. UrlScan is disabled, but I went ahead and added OPTIONS and PROPFIND to the list of allowed verbs (since I'm running out of ideas).
After the release of MVC 2, i have started to check and play with the new features. But i couldnt understand that why do i need to use PUT or DELETE verbs? I have searched about it and read some articles but i couldnt get it. What is the main purpose of DELETE and PUT (and do they have any advantages rather than using a GET or POST method) even though i can handle all of the requests with GET and POST.
I'm having trouble setting up a custom NEW User Screen. Here is my situation, I have a Request for Access Screen that uses the CreateNewUser Wizard Control. I want to leave the Question and Answer for this, however I also want a custom NEW User Setup which I build myself to allow the system administrators to setup users, but for this setup I don't want the administrators to have to pick the question and answer for the NEW user, so I would like to bypass this for this setup. However, my Membership.CreateUser keeps asking for it. How can I accomplish this? I've included a copy of my current web.config file. You will notice a AspNetAdminMemberhip which I use to allow the System Administrators to reset passwords.
i am working in asp.net mvc & want to create a restful web service. how can i create a restful web service in MVC & how can i use it ? My requirement is : i have an application server which send some parameters to web service & the web service should connect to remote server & return image on path (whose path will be generated by the parameters from application server).
I simply want to create a fairly basic REST service, so that I can expose some of the data in my asp.net/SQL server application to the outside works, like this.....
http://domain.com/api/offices - would return an xml set of office locations. http://domain.com/api/offices/15 - would return all the details of office 15.
It's all fairly standard stuff (including basic authentication) but there seem to be several ways to achieve this using Microsoft technologies and I don't really know where to start. These seem to be the options...
1) WCF
2) ASP.NET MVC
3) ADO.NET Data Services
4) Rest Starter Kit project templates?
Which of these is the easiest and most "up-to-date" solution to creating a web service?
I am using VS2008 pro to develop my web application. my project target framework is 3.5. I can add web service (.asmx) to it. But there is no .svc for me to add, do I need to install WCF REST Starter Kit? (but it is only in Preview 2)Or should I add an WCF service project to my solution?
i am in the process of creating a restful service with WCF, the service is likely to be consumed by at least 500 people at any given time. What settings would i need to set in order to deal with this.
I have created a server product that is connecting to some social network servers and sending to data which status update etc. The server already authenticated to necessary social networks servers by users who is using this solution.
Actually, I have no problem at this time, but I think I will.
My server will be open a thousands of concurrent request to neccessary servers via Http with C# HttpWebRequest instance. I already know that It's possible to change concurrent request limits with below propery.
ServicePointManager.DefaultConnectionLimit AFAIK, this limit is max 100 evet you set more than 100. So, I will be faced with bottleneck problem with HttpWebRequest even change the DefaultConnectionLimit property of ServicePointManager.
First, I'm looking for a a small example of how to handle a series of RESTful URLs, such as /Account/{userName} and /Account/{userName}/Profile with a single HttpHandler. At this time, I'm not interested in embracing MVC or using the REST Starter Kit. Should I place the HttpHandler class in a Class Library? Should I publish to the root of the RESTful URL?
My second issue stems from the fact that my ASP.NET hosting is done through a web-hosting company. Will I need to ask their tech team to configure IIS for me? Is that normal practice?
I've been tasked with porting/refactoring a Web Application Platform that we have from ASP.NET to MVC.NET. Ideally I could use all the existing platform's configurations to determine the properties of the site that is presented. Is it RESTful to keep a SiteConfiguration object which contains all of our various page configuration data in the System.Web.Caching.Cache? There are a lot of settings that need to be loaded when the user acceses our site so it's inefficient for each user to have to load the same settings every time they access.
I want to implement a restful service in ASP.NET. I want it to be compatible with .Net 2.0 and IIS 5+. I am constrained to not use ASP.NET MVC or REST starter kit. By reading on internet I have learned that it can be implemented using HTTPHandlers. The problem is, the request will come in as a POST request. And I want to URL to be like:
http://abc.com/MyService/MyMethod1/ and http://abc.com/MyService/MyMethod2/
I have a web setup package project alongside an old .asmx web service. When I build it I only get 'MyService.msi' and not the 'Setup.exe' in the 'Release' folder after build. Normally the .msi suffices for installation, but on Windows Server 2008 R2 I am getting denied from installing the .msi pacakge. I can only install .exe packages after right clicking and stating "Install as Administrator".
The server admin is still new to 2008 R2 and not sure why I can't install an .msi because I am an admin, so for now if I knew how to get that web setup package to generate the Setup.exe file as well I see my other VS.NET setup packages create.
I have xml document and wanting to pass it through wcf restfull service, i am able to do that by using string format i mean i can pass the xml as string param in the restful service and it worked but now my xml document becomes huge so if i pass it as string then it gives URI long error. any way i can pass the huge xml document through the WCF RESTFul service.
I'm venturing out into the world of Linq and WCF web services and I can't seem to make the magic happen. I have a VERY basic WCF web service going and I can get my old SqlConnection calls to work and return a DataSet. But I can't/don't know how to get the Linq to SQL queries to work. I'm guessing it might be a permissions problem since I need to connect to the SQL Database with a specific set of credentials but I don't know how I can test if that is the issue. I've tried using both of these connection strings and neither seem to give me a different result.
From tools, options, HTML designer, CSS Styling, I checked "Change positioning to absolute...", clicked OK, but never save it. Every time when I open the project, it became uncheck again.
Anyone able and willing to post a part of the CSS files they use for production websites? Curious what types of selectors people use and how they configure the CSS rules to connect to the html elements. I know how this all works in practice - I'm curious how professional coders actually organize their CSS rules. I'm starting a new web app and don't want to be constrained by the setups I've seen and used up to this point.
I am undergrad CS student with very little knowledge of ASP,VB.
I want to build a web-application for my college which will be used for making a Timetable out of several couses offered on campus. i.e As the user selects a course out of several courses, the selected couse gets filled in a grid.
For e.g. If user selects a course Chemistry-I taught on 'Mon Wed Fri ,3rd hour',the course name gets filled in the grid cells (Monday,3rdHour) (Wednesday,3rdHour) (Friday,3rdHour).
I have a database containing fields 'Course Name' and corresponding 'Days','Hours'. My problem is as the user enters a course name in entry field it gives suggestions for auto completion instantly as the letters are typed.
Like as soon as chem is typed it suggests chemistry I chemistry II organic chemistry etc..
We have Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Professional installed in our labs and I want to learn it by doing tthis project.
2.need to add some launh condition if the user machine doesn't has Crystal Report for 2008 and Chat controls for .Net 3.5 SP1 i make the project to instal the things first then install the project how to do this
