I created a project template at my work place that includes several classes. These classes will never be used in any view.Is there any way to hide these certain classes from the Model class combobox when you go add a new view?
When using the "add view" dialog in vwd is there a common practice for presenting any primary key fields as readonly to the user in the view?
By default it appears the user could change the key field value (as it is presented in a textbox) and overwrite data for that record for which the key was accidentally changed to.
Do we have to store the original record's key and then make the key presented as a label and then on the update subtitute the original key value back in for the record? Or is there something simpler?
MVC generates the following code in my edit view for me but I don't want the user to see it, let alone try and change it. If I delete the code I get an error because a required value is missing. What is best practice when dealing with this?
Shouldn't ScaffoldColumn(false) hide the field in the view? I create a strongly typed CREATE view (AddSO), expecting that the soID column won't be rendered and that the Label name of the field 'name' will be 'Full Name'. But the AddSO view renders the soID column and still labels the 'Name' field as 'Name. What am I doing wrong?
Is it possible to make the tree in a "collapsed" state where all the Leaf nodes and ONLY leaf nodes are hidden from view until its parent node is expanded? The ideal solution would be to do this without a postback, but any solution at this time would be helpful. The "collapsed" view would look like this:
Root |-Parent |--Child |--Child
Expanding the Root, Parent or Child nodes should show their Leaf nodes. Collapsing the node should re-hide its leaf nodes, but leave the child nodes visible.
i just want simple mechanism to make images update at my website copyright protected, so i want to protect them witht the password. any of the techinque will do , i just want the iamges to be password protected so that i can dignose whether the uploaded image is not from my site.
I would like to be able to render a view in ASP.NET MVC so that all css classes in the elements are rendered inline in the tags. The sole purpose of this is to have email clients recognise html, as I believe that style must be inline for it to be recognised in email messages.
Is there any facility in ASP.NET MVC (or ASP.NET) that allows this?
I leaved my VS2008 opened with my project whole night, this morning my machine was automatically rebooted by Windows 7 Update.
So I opened VS to continue my work, when I was trying to use Add View dialog, it popup this error:
error CS0234: Compiling transformation: The type or namespace name 'Data' does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?)
Also, I try to create another new MVC2 web project, Add view dialog just works fine. How come??
After wading through quite a few articles on creating modal forms (using partial views and jquery) I got things working fine for my login....as long as you enter a valid login though!
What I did:
Created a partial view containing my login form.
In my action controller, the get action just return a PartialViewResult, which get dealt with by a bit of jQuery in my master:[Code]....
Like I said this works fine. Now the post action of my login check if it's a valid login, and if so send the user to the passed returnurl or the home page.
However, if the validation fails, I now return the partial view again, which work , but the partial get displayed by itself instead of rendering in the modal form that was opened by jquery.
I am new to LINQ. when we drag tables we get a dbml file and designer file.
For example DataClasses1.dbml and DataClasses1.designer.cs.
Once we have them then we can start using our LINQ Queries.
In my company project I do not see this designer files and instead there are .tt files which were used as templates to greate ABC.generated.cs files. Is this same as designer class?
I am following the Nerd Dinner tutorial as I'm learning ASP.NET MVC, and I am currently on Step 3: Building the Model. One part of this section discusses how to integrate validation and business rule logic with the model classes. All this makes perfect sense. However, in the case of this source code, the author only validates one class: Dinner.
What I am wondering is, say I have multiple classes that need validation (Dinner, Guest, etc). It doesn't seem smart to me to repeatedly write these two methods in the partial class:
[code]....
This doesn't "feel" right, but I wanted to check with SO to get opinions of individuals smarter than me on this. I also tested it out, and it seems that the partial keyword on the OnValidate method is causing problems (understandably so). This doesn't seem possible to fix (but I could very well be wrong).
I don't know if this has to do with how FindControl works or how scope works. But my base class is having a hard time seeing the fields of child classes. Currently I'm planning have the derived class set a property in the base class, but there are a lot of derived classes, so that isn't a very attractive solution.
I am using MVC2 on VS2010 Express edition. I followed a post by Dino Esposito on UI with JQuery passing data to a dialog from strongly typed views. I can't make the dialog work with modal:true option. Here I have a simple page that includes RenderPartial for a dialog. The dialog is supposed to pop up when a button is clicked. However, if I include modal:true as one of the dialog options, then when the button is clicked nothing happens. The dialog does not pop up. When I remove modal:true from the dialog options then dialog pops up as expected and closed as expected.
I'm curious as to what people consider better practice, between duplicating model structure in the view model and using a mapping tool to move data between the two, or aggregate the model inside the view model, i.e. have a property on the view model class that is a reference to the actual model. Which is considered a better approach in general?
I've got a div on Page A.When an event happens (whatever I define, a click, whatever), I do a div.Dialog, set its properties and open itThe data inside is returned from an async .ajax call that grabs the data from a url and appends it to the div by calling div.html(data) inside the .ajax callback, so it's essentially loading a PageB by getting the data (content) and appending it to the div that's calling the dialog("open")...nothing special here I don't think.
My question: In Page B, how do I reference the dialog so I can do some things to it? For instance in Page B's content that I received back from that .ajax call and added to the div via .html(data), there is a button and when clicked I need to close the dialog.Right now my buttons are not working inside the dialog because one of them closes out the dialog and the other should redirect to a new page but both do not work now because I have no reference to the dialog that it's in to manipulate it. So I need reference so I can close the dialog via some jQuery that will reside in PageB (data).
I am working in an ASP.NET mvc application. With regards to URL's I could see the Controller and action names in the address bar when user navigates between pages. Is there a way to hide them, such that the address bar always displays http://mywebsite.com without any action names or controller names suffixing them, or is there any other standard practices? Or is it ok to leave the URL as such which can contain action and controller suffixes?
I am trying to hide a linkbutton dynamically depending on the role the user is in. I can hide my other linkbuttons that are located inside a gridview easy but when i use the same method outside of the gridview it does not work. Also if I hardcode visibility to false it hides it but when i am doing it dynamically it is not working.
[Code]....
Why is this not working the way I would expect this too work and can you show me or give me resources to fix this? I searched google but I did not find anything of use.
