When I am creating Strongly Typed View I get lots of Classes in View Data Drop down. Classes like Automapper, ninject, Interface..., latebound... Due this its very hard to find my project classes. Is there any way to restrict dropdown to only display my project classes?
Hi I have created the following controller i want to add view that should have the data access class UserMagnament.Controller.menuitems but when i add view by right clicking on view folder,it is not showing "UserMagnament.Controller.menuitems" in add data class
No controller is shown such as homecontoller, accounts controller, UMController(My Controller) etc i have converted my solution from mvc 1 to mvc2. i checked the web.config. it seems ok for MVC2
There is a SearchPage which has a properties ErrorMessage, SuccessMessage etc. This is basically a MVP pattern so for each page(view) there is IView that contains definitions for all the properties
I am using decoratoe pattern to set these peoperties dependingon the message type. There is another Interface IBaseMessage which has a method DisplayMessage() and a class BaseMessage which implements the interface. This class has a definition of the view
I just struck upon a prime opportunity to further exhibit my MVC ignorance, by way of the following: How can one make use of a custom view model class that has parameters in the constructor? For example, a class that could intitialize various collections/properties based on an IPrincipal object passed in. I've come across several allusions to this scenario, involving a class inheriting DefaultModelBinder which overrides the CreateModel method, but have yet to find an example.
I'm trying to have all my views inherit from a custom class so that I can add certain behaviour and values to all pages, but I'm having some issues. I tried subclassing System.Web.Mvc.WebViewPage but I'm forced to implement an Execute procedure that I don't know what it should do. Also, if I try to access the Context variable, I get a null reference (really weird). This leads me to think that I may have the wrong base class.
I'n trying to setup a view template dynamically using a foreach loop. The view template is as follows:
[Code]....
My metadata class is as follows:
[Code]....
The partial seems to render the labels correctly, displying the appropriate name for the fiields that I have annotated. However the value of the fields is always set to the class property name itself rather than the value of the given record itself. Now I'm pretty sure my problem is something stupid, but I can't see what I am missing. I followed Brad Wilson's guide here adjusting it for Razor's syntax:http://bradwilson.typepad.com/blog/2009/10/aspnet-mvc-2-templates-part-4-custom-object-templates.html
I've always just used incremental search, but have recently starting using a class browser plugin for vim and would like something of the same in Visual Studio to navigate methods, properties, etc. in a browser type window. Seems like this is what Class View is for, but when I'm on a page's code behind, it doesn't show up on the class view window.
When I search for the class, it shows up but when I click on it I get "The definition of the object is hidden.". Is there some basic setup thing I'm doing wrong or does VS not support class view for page classes? Is there an extension that does this (I'm using VS2010)?
Then I have page that would has a list of ForumPost(s) and and edit option, all on one page. To achieve this I've created a CommentsViewModel that extends "ForumPost" class like so:
[Code]....
This way on my view I can have a list of ForumPost(s) and a form that would edit the post. This is what i see in the debug mode right before the save call:The problem is that when I try to Save/Update I get the following error:I already tried doing this:
[Code]....
with no luck. for some reason downcasting doesn't work and the model or row are still of type CommentsViewModel instead of ForumPost
We have a modular architecture where we have some views (cshtml) files in a separate project (class library). How can we get the syntax highlighting and autocomplete to work when the project isn't an MVC project?
note that the class library has controllers, views, models etc. It just doesn't have the web.config, global.asax, etc that a normal mvc project would have.
The intellisense works for everything but the so important model:
With MVC3 RTM, if you hover over the Model, you can now get a better error message:
[code]....
Then after adding the build provider, this error message appears:
Since we can access the private data member of base class in the derived class with the help of friend function. How can we do the same in C# asp.net? I mean whats the alternative of friend function in C# asp.net
Error parsing attribute 'something': Type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage' does not have a public property named 'something'.
Notice how it tries to use System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage rather than my BaseViewPage class. To make it more interesting, if I remove the "Something" attribute from the Page directive and put some code in the generic version of BaseViewPage (OnInit for example) the class is actually called / used / instantiated.
So, am I doing something wrong or is this a limitation.
If i have a page which displays all the data but with only a few fields, then i select one of the data and then i want to be able to view that data with all the fields related to that data on another web page.
I have been able to view the data in Grid view and enable the Select, Update, Insert and Delete. But not able to use the select button to view the information on another web page.
I have a grid view with a few columns, for example a column in the grid view contains description of a product. The description might be very long, so i want to display only first 100 characters of the description and then provide a . when we click on the. then the whole description should be displayed.
I have a view which takes two objects: booking and list of reasons for canceling that booking.I have two classes: clsBooking, clsBookingCancelationReason I can read both objects in my view - no problems there. After I read the objects, I display the booking details and I generate a list of cancelation reasons in the following way:
[Code]....
The code above generates a list of cancelation reasons. How do I pick up the selected ReasonId from the list? I need to generate a link that will contain the bookingId and the selected reason for canceling the booking.I can get the bookingId out easily since it's stored in the Model...but how do I go about the selected ReasonId?
i'm tring to search my table according to id number or the case number then view it in a gridviewbut it work for the first time then after it stop for error
Dim conn As New SqlConnection conn.ConnectionString = "Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10.SQLEXPRESSMSSQLDATATask.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True"
I have a 'classic' ASP.NET app (.NET 3.5) with a pretty standard runat="server" style form with server-side controls and an 'Execute' asp:button. In the code-behind, the executeButton_click handler processes some of the other controls, runs a report, and drops the result into an asp:label. So the effect of pressing the Execute button is that the entire page reloads with the report inserted into the label.
I need to change this so that when the Execute button is pressed, the report pops up in a new window with a different layout (ie without the controls and form). If I was doing this in an MVC framework I would just change the view template in the 'execute' action, so the analogue for ASP.NET would be change the code in front, ie the .aspx file that gets used, from the code-behind class.
Is this possible? I know the link between the .aspx and the .aspx.cs isn't extremely tight as it is possible to reuse a code-behind class in multiple .aspx files. So can I set the .aspx file to render from the code-behind?
