Can a view pass some sort of model like data to a Master page? I am using the ViewData collection, but that makes for confusion in my code. When I specify the Master in the View, can I also specify a parameter?

I have passed the value from one page to next page using a querystring. In the next page i need to get the value from the query string and based on the value, it needs to checked with the database and the result set should be placed in the gridview, details view or listview anything else.

The subject of the thread is my question. I don't know whether or not it is possible. Actually in my project currently I'm feeling a need to capture a bitmap image of a web page to insert that image into pdf document. And according to the need I don't want to display that page but want to pass values as parameters to that page. Is it possible? If so, how can I do it?

I have one aspx page with all the items in a listview, then a link to another page to show the details view, but I dont want to use a asp:detailsview control becasue it generates a table, and I want a more complex layout. View 2 RepliesI have a simple model where a Person has Gifts. I have a view which is a list of Gifts belonging to one Person.
My problem is with the Create action for a new Gift. I want it to default to the PersonID that we are already viewing the list of Gifts for. I tried simply passing the last PersonID (they are all the same)
Html.ActionLink("Create New", "Create", new { id = Model.Last().PersonID }) which works fine if there is already at least one Gift for that person but if this is the first Gift I don't have a value.
My Gift List controller knows the PersonID I want to pass but the view doesn't.
How do I pass this PersonID from my Gift List controller to my Gift Create controller via the Gift List view? Or is there a better way to do this?
I am using web control and master page, and the resulting parameter name (from request.param) looks like this:ctl00$mainPH$CaseControl1$txtContactNameWhich is pretty stupid and if I use the web control somewhere else, it will probably have a different parameter name.

I'm using C# language Asp.net version 3.5 I have a masterpage and pages which they use master. I think there are three ways to implement my application with ability passing parameters between controller to pages.
First Way :
I need to pass a string parameter from page to master how I can do that ? I'm going to pass a string parameter between page to master when controller request page and then page pass parameter to it's master.
Second way : Passing some string parameters from a controller class to master page at first (not to page and then page to it's master). Third Way : Passing to another class or field that must be static and then master load it's value. Which is the best or possible way I mean with high performance and security.

I have a masterPage on that i am using AjaxModalPopup for login purpose.My requirement is when i login via Master page then it should show the Logged-in User details on the current Content Page that is using same master page.
