However, if the output stream seems to be set to write-only, as I can't read using a StreamReader. Is there a way I read and re-write the content without writing my own IIS module?

The problem is that Json(users) only returns the data from IEnumerable (MembershipUserEx objects) and I also want the data from the public Properties of MembershipUserExCollection as well. Web Forms :: Browser Output Doesn't Look Like Web Developer Output Using Nested Master Pages And Css Stylesheets
Apr 18, 2010First off, suggest better ways if you want rather than patch up this code. I am just starting this project and it is first time I have tried to code a web site so anything you suggest is very much welcomed. I have spent the last 2 and 1/2 days trying to find workable answers to this but none I have found and tried seem to fit. If needed I can email screens shots or code. I am trying to construct a website that will have the same main theme throughout as far as the header, navbars sitemap, and footer go. Naturally the content will vary from page to page. I want to use a single master page and css stylesheet for this main theme and I will change the content format as needed per page because each page may vary somewhat.
However, about 15 of the pages will all use the same format for their content and this format will differ from the rest of the site but the format of the main theme will stay the same. So I am trying to create a nested master page to use to format the just the content area for all these pages while retaining the main theme for the header, etc.. I believe I should use a separate css file with the nested master page to handle the formatting of the content areas for these 15 pages. I have code that looks like it works when viewed in web developer but design view but does not work when viewd through a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox). So far I have the following done in web developer.
If it helps the code and screen shots follow. Master Page called "Parent.master". For all theme throughout site Nested Master Page called "Lab.master". For the 15 like pages Primary stylesheet file for main theme called "StylesheetNew.css" For site theme Secondary stylesheet file to syle the 15 like formatted pages. It is called Labmaster.css Labs.apsx file to use as first of the 15 like pages.
Finally screens shots from web developer and browser. Sorry try as I might I could not capture screenshots and put them into this post. The problem is that web developer shows all the area (many lines high) with gray background and with the XXX text that I want to allocate for content in the 15 pages. Yet all the browser show is one line of text o a white background followed by the footer. It looks like the LabStyleSheet works in Web Developer but not in a browser.

JsonResult Shows Up A File Download In Browser?
Apr 3, 2010I'm trying to use jquery.Ajax to post data to an ASP.NET MVC2 action method that returns a JsonResult. Everything works great except when the response gets back to the browser it is treated as a file download instead of being passed into the success handler. Here's my code:

If I open the downloaded file the json is exactly what I'm looking for and the mime type is shown as application/json. What am I missing to make the jquery.ajax call receive the json returned?

Mar 28, 2010I would like to wrap a RenderPartial in a JsonResult so that my jQuery can handle placement/positioning of the html data based on additional Json parameters.
e.g. {html: <string returned from RenderPartial>, typeofdata: 1}
After Googling, it seems that the only way to do this is a workaround that hijacks HttpContext in order to spit the PartialViewResult into a string. However, this seems like it would break testability.
Is JsonResult not intended to be used with RenderPartial?
Alternatively, I could set typeofdata as a parameter of the model, and have the PartialView render it as a hidden field, then have jQuery look for it. What is a better way to generate the data that I need?
MVC :: Internal Server Error On JsonResult Return?
Mar 5, 2010I've got an ActionMethod that returns a JsonResult object and this isn't returning data to the calling jquery function. I have used wget to send and receive raw data to it, and I've discovered that when the object dataset is empty, it returns a value fine and the wget return is
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 78 [application/json]
Saving to: `filename'
but when there is data in the object dataset I get an internal server error:-
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 500 Internal Server Error
2010-03-05 13:21:16 ERROR 500: Internal Server Error.
This is a dataset of objects being returned - are there any common "gotchas" when doing this?

I would like to use a DropDownList to allow the user to specify a value, that will be used in an SQL query to retrieve specific data from the table. I.e. user can select a country from the list, and the table will display items only from that country. I cannot figure out how to retrieve the selected item from the DropDownList, within my data bind function for my table, within my controller class.

So i am not sure if there is a problem with the model, or with my understanding this, Now for your info I can do the same step with returning a dataset from a stored procedure fine, but I dont want a data set I just want excatly the data in the output parameters from the stored procedure.

Jan 23, 2010I am learning ASP.NET by developing a tiny project. My project is very simple: Client send request to a page (for example, ABC.aspx) by using GET method (for example, ABC.aspx?param=1¶m=2). And then the page will return XML as output.
When I am programming in Java EE, I can use a servlet to receive the request, set the content-type of response (application/xml), and then print the XML content.
I searched the Internet and found a suggestion: Create a web form, delete all codes except the @Page directive. Go to the code-behind of the web form, set the content-type of response, and then print the XML content.
C# - How To Output SQL To DIV InnerHTML

Feb 15, 2011i face a very strange problem (at least for me) ,i got the html layout of a web page from the designer and it is exactly the same HTML of the photoshop design..when i add the HTML tags to my ASP.Net website and add the <form runat="server"> </form> tag after the body tag..some of the divs in the footer appear differently..here is a screenshot of how the footer should be
