i face a very strange problem (at least for me) ,i got the html layout of a web page from the designer and it is exactly the same HTML of the photoshop design..when i add the HTML tags to my ASP.Net website and add the <form runat="server"> </form> tag after the body tag..some of the divs in the footer appear differently..here is a screenshot of how the footer should be

View 3 RepliesFirst off, suggest better ways if you want rather than patch up this code. I am just starting this project and it is first time I have tried to code a web site so anything you suggest is very much welcomed. I have spent the last 2 and 1/2 days trying to find workable answers to this but none I have found and tried seem to fit. If needed I can email screens shots or code. I am trying to construct a website that will have the same main theme throughout as far as the header, navbars sitemap, and footer go. Naturally the content will vary from page to page. I want to use a single master page and css stylesheet for this main theme and I will change the content format as needed per page because each page may vary somewhat.
However, about 15 of the pages will all use the same format for their content and this format will differ from the rest of the site but the format of the main theme will stay the same. So I am trying to create a nested master page to use to format the just the content area for all these pages while retaining the main theme for the header, etc.. I believe I should use a separate css file with the nested master page to handle the formatting of the content areas for these 15 pages. I have code that looks like it works when viewed in web developer but design view but does not work when viewd through a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox). So far I have the following done in web developer.
If it helps the code and screen shots follow. Master Page called "Parent.master". For all theme throughout site Nested Master Page called "Lab.master". For the 15 like pages Primary stylesheet file for main theme called "StylesheetNew.css" For site theme Secondary stylesheet file to syle the 15 like formatted pages. It is called Labmaster.css Labs.apsx file to use as first of the 15 like pages.
Finally screens shots from web developer and browser. Sorry try as I might I could not capture screenshots and put them into this post. The problem is that web developer shows all the area (many lines high) with gray background and with the XXX text that I want to allocate for content in the 15 pages. Yet all the browser show is one line of text o a white background followed by the footer. It looks like the LabStyleSheet works in Web Developer but not in a browser.

I have a stored procedure that works fine for classic asp, but how can I get my output parameters data back from in /MVC 2 / linq/ entities framework model . I have inported the function also, but when i try to code it i dont get results ...i know this is a matter of lack of / knowledge or exmple because i have been scouring the web for it and cannnot find into that accually works.

I keep seeing stuff about "ref" on the net but "ref" shows " arbument # should not be passed with the ref keyword.
So i am not sure if there is a problem with the model, or with my understanding this, Now for your info I can do the same step with returning a dataset from a stored procedure fine, but I dont want a data set I just want excatly the data in the output parameters from the stored procedure.

I am trying to use the Page class that exposes a property named PreviousPage from my User Control.
I am working in a school and we recently installed a new server running WinServer 2008R2. I want to be able to point people to a URL on our intranet and have them fill out a simple registration form and have this data written to a database. It would also be nice to have some data auto-populate (such as their name).
Is it overkill to set up a sharepoint server and try to do this with Access Webforms? Could I use something like dotnetnuke and find a module that works? Or how about options for writing custom forms?

View 1 RepliesI have a page with a ScriptManager / UpdatePanel. I currently need to PostBack to a https page from an http page (different ports). I also need the same session data. Currently, I copy my form to a new form, and when I postback to my new Target on a new Port, I get a crash in xmlHttp..something. I will have to post more details later.
I'm currently wondering if this is possible. And does anyone know of such a fix. I even tried to Turn off Partial Rendering and I still get crashes. I can't do this until I pull out the scriptManager / UpdatePanel.

View 4 RepliesI have a web form called default.aspx which has a form with user information. In addition to this, I have an iFrame on the same page that displays a page Secondary-Form.aspx that has a few additional dynamic data fields. I need to do two things.
1. I need to pass the parent form data in real time to the iFrame page to refresh its content and modify it's fields accordingly. Example: If the user submits their Vehicle Choice as Car on parent form, the form item in iFrame will display a radio button that says Honda, and if the user submits their Vehicle Choice as MotorCycle in the parent page, the iFrame will display Harley Davidson as the radio button choice
2. The submit button is on the parent page. I want both pieces of this information (from the parent page, as well as iFrame selection) to be passed to a server side ASPX page to process this information.the default.aspx and Secondary-Form.aspx files are located on different domains.

I am creating a Payment request form that my customers are going to fill out and submit so they get paid I would classifi it as an invoice. Does any one have any examples or point me to a good place to read about creating this type of form and the database tables to support the application?
The form will basically have some fields they will fill in for the header then in the related stuf come charge amounts with there types aka partnumbers of sorts and also the ablity to put in there own types / aka partnumbers and there amounts. I wont be housing any amounts they will supply all the information of payment amounts and types.
is there any reason for me to place the session ID within a form, as a hidden form field?

I have a form inside a bunch of nested frames (Called FormA) that calls a second independent window/form (called FormB). When I close formB I re-submit FormA to reload the data. I now also want to change the values of some of the controls in FormA, using Javascript (basically I would like to amend the function below). I am learning ASP.NET by developing a tiny project. My project is very simple: Client send request to a page (for example, ABC.aspx) by using GET method (for example, ABC.aspx?param=1¶m=2). And then the page will return XML as output.
When I am programming in Java EE, I can use a servlet to receive the request, set the content-type of response (application/xml), and then print the XML content.
I searched the Internet and found a suggestion: Create a web form, delete all codes except the @Page directive. Go to the code-behind of the web form, set the content-type of response, and then print the XML content.
I have a form that works just fine, problem is that if user leave form open for more than 20 30 min and then click a button on that form the browsers status line shows "Error in page", user then must refresh the page in order for the page function.
