View 3 RepliesI've always depended on putting a control on an aspx page and double-clicking in design view to create my VB page. But this isn't happening in my current project. It creates an inline script in my aspx page instead. Where is the option or preference or XML file or.... that controls this?
View 5 RepliesI'm incorporating some parts of an old asp application into a newly written mvc app. In most places I've separated out the data access and business logic into the model, and written new view's and viewmodels on the mvc side, although what I ended up with was not perfect, it works reasonably well.There's one area that's probably a bit too much work to do that. It uses an asp treeview and custom controls, and has lot's of code that just isn't partitioned very well. It's one of those 'well I wouldn't start here' situations, but unfortunately it's the code I have. As an application in it's own right it works well and has done for the past 5 years or so. Although it does want re-writing, that's probably more work than I wanted to do right now if I can get away with it.
The asp pages decend from a custom asp page, which itself decends from asppage and contains a custom DAL. What I'd really like to do, is 'paste' the page produced by this legacy asp page into the 'main' contentplaceholder area on an mvc form. I know I can incorporate standard asp pages into an mvc application, but that isn't what I'm trying to do as I want to use the master page from the mvc application.
When I put the following code on my page.
<script type="text/javascript" src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js" />
Then anything below will became nothing.
I am trying to put google adsense on my default.aspx that has a masterpage. I am not sure I am doing it correctly. Is there a particular place I should be pasting their java script ?
View 7 RepliesI have a partial view that is rendered on a view. That partial view has textboxes in it. The user can enter values into them.
I need to put all the values from the textboxes in my partial view into an array, and then give the view (the parent page rendering that partial view) access to that array.
I am developing a mobile site which has multiple divs. I have validator set up for each different input, but I want to validate only the elements within the 1st div on click "Continue."
In the example, I want to validate First name only within FirstPage.

I have an MVC page that has a webforms page that it needs to render:
The virtual directory for the webforms page is:
http://mysite/Report/1
File saved:
~/Areas/Accounts/Views/Invoices/Report.aspx?id=1
How do I map this?
I have mapped it to controller:
return Redirect("~/Areas/Accounts/Views/Invoices/Report.aspx?id=1?id=" + id);
But I get an error.
Asp.net page_load function is loading twice.. hence it affects my page performance.
Does anyone know the reason it is loading twice.

I'm trying to enumerate through all the Controls of a Page, but all I can find is thePage.FindControl(string) and the .Controls property doesn't has the controls that I have on the page. Anybody knows how to enumerate through all the controls of a web-forms page
View 2 Replieshow to execute a asp.net page asynchronously?
So I am displaying a page to the user, but when an event happen, I need to execute another page, without using ajax, but using C# code.
I am using asp.net webforms.
I have a asp.net webforms page in which I'm using the jqGrid component. The problem is that thickbox is not working on the links inside jqGrid (ajax).
I got this peace of code on Gupta's blog but I don't know how to add it as I'm using the jqGrid component for ASP.NET.
gridComplete: function(){
// ThickBox - this allows any dynamically created links that use thickbox to work!
tb_init('a.thickbox, area.thickbox, input.thickbox');//pass where to apply thickbox
imgLoader = new Image();// preload image
imgLoader.src = tb_pathToImage;}
when i try to do this and load the webforms page, i get this error, even tho the path is correct. what can i do to get past this? i've tried running the aspx page from the root as well. nada.

I wanted to gather some methods on how to add a variable number of fields to my form (with Add New and Remove buttons). I know that ASP.NET MVC has easy methods, but I'm unable to find any easy methods for WebForms.
Here's what I've used so far:
Adding a new UserControl to a PlaceHolder on PostBack (I've had to fiddle with ViewState to make this work correctly, huge pain) Adding a new row to a grid and having a template field in a grid (works decently but kind of awkward) Actually having several fields on the form by default and hiding/showing them dynamically (fairly easy but you have a set number of fields.)
Is it possible to invoke an action on asp.net mvc controller programmatically from a classic webforms page that is not handled by MVC but running in the same web application?
We have a mixed asp.net web application: webforms for page rendering and mvc for ajax calls. But we want to render some MVC views from webform page on the server via the code (not a web request)...
Currently we are doing a web request locally to get the rendered view: is it the right/only way?
I am building a website in which all of the site layout is in Master page and the content of the site is in the inherited pages. I have various links for navigation in which i simple use Response.Redirect to transfer to different pages. Now the problem is that I want to put the content place holder inside Ajax Update panel so that the postbacks are Asynchronous and I want to show the postback by an animated image inside Update Panel progress control. The problem is that I am unable to achieve this result and the entire page is posted back and rendered again. I have placed the content place holder inside the Ajax control toolkit's Update panel but it does not work. Is there any way that I can change the content of the content place holder to a new page with asynchronous postback.

View 11 RepliesI have never put a website online before so I want to know a few things.
I understand that you must buy a domain name like 'www.example.co.uk' to get to your site.
1) If I bought a domain name from www.123-reg.co.uk and used their hosting package, how would I get it online. I have already completed my website. Can I still put it on?
2) On their website, it says that you need to buy databases (I think) and add them to the hosting package? I have already got databases in use on my website. What does this mean?
3) Could you in brief sum up the steps of outting a website online.
I have 2 server controls. A control that we can call 'SwapImageControl' where the user can change images via AJAX and a 'DoctorNameControl' where a user can change the dr. name via AJAX...
The 'SwapImageControl' has a image control in it that will span over the entire table row... I am wanting to place the 'Doctor Name Control' over the 'SwapImageControl' so the user can still see the DoctorNameControl label. I tried using opacity on the Dr. Control in css but it looks terrible...
I have a function in a code behind file that's used to respond to a gridview event:
protected void GridviewEval(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{
foreach (TableCell cell in e.Row.Cells)
{
if (cell.Text == "0") { cell.Text = "-"; }
}
}
}
It's currently in the code behind of a page and I'll be using it in other other pages.I would like to use the same code in other pages.When I cut and paste the function into a class,it's not working.
is dere any way i can put a search box on my web form which searches the whole website?
