I am fairly new to the asp.net and experimenting with it to learn the page life cycle. Here is a problem that I have been unable to resolve for past few days.
I have a hosting page (.aspx). Then I have two user controls (.ascx). The page has a place holder control in which it loads the user controls one at a time based on the application flow. First user control is loaded on application start up. It has a "continue" button. Continue button click loads the Second user control that has two buttons - "Back" and "Submit". Obviously the "Back" button should load the first user control again and Submit button should submit the form data. Pretty simple.
The problem is that the command button event handler that I have on the second user control is not firing the first time. (I have one event handler for both buttons). The load event of the user control fires but then it ignores the button click. If I click it again, then it fires. I re-load the controls on the page in every page_load. Here is some relevent code:

The page_Load fires every time but "CommandBtn_Click" doesn't fire after the first click. I have to do it click it again. It doesn't matter which order I click the buttons.

My gridview displays 4 columns where in the fourth i have an asp:ButtonField
When i have one row in the results and the user hits the Button it does not fire in Firefox. In IE works fine.
My gridview is inside an asp:UpdatePanel and the page uses a masterpagefile.
On the other hand the text in the headers does not stay centered, altough i use
ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center"

First column is as it is. But next 4 columns I try to make merge from Gridview Row Databound Event. It's working.
I have a link button in column1 and when I click on it, Row Command is fire and at that time the merge is gone. And Last row comes in footer row.

I like how the external pager (user control) works with the gridview, with one exception -- it uses the hyperlink control, so I lost viewstate, which I need to retain for both the search page and to retain the gridview sort options. I set a breakpoint inside the lbCommandClick method, but it never gets hit. Reading other posts tells me that I would have to add the dynamic controls in the OnLoad method, but since this all happens based on other data on the page (say search results), I don't think I can do it onLoad. However, the link buttons do work to cause a postback, and my viewstate is saved correctly. The only problem is that I do not know which button was clicked. I could check Request.Params["__EVENTTARGET"] onLoad, but that is kind of a hack -- I'd much rather be able to set the event handler in the user control and use the CommandArgument property. But, what I have tried so far fails.
Especially one that would allow me to set the EventHandler in the User Control? (e.g. OnlbCommand="PagerLBPageChange" )
I would like to add a command button at runtime. Can someone show me how or point me in the direction. I googled it without success.My design code and code behind is below.

I have a repeater that is nested within a list view. I bind both and everything works nicely. The problem is that, my repeater has a deleteComment LinkButton which doesn't fire at all!!! I have enabled view state for everything including the page itself. In my code for repeater, my LinkButton Code Looks like this:

What is the difference between connection timeout and command timeout?
In our application sometimes it is showing a timeout error. When we increased the command timeout value to 100(from default 30), its working. Is there any issue in increasing the command timeout value.
I have a form containing both CustomValidators and RequiredFieldValidators. The Custom Validation doesn't fire until all of the requiredFieldValidators have passed. Can someone tell me how to get them to validate at the same time? I want all the validation messages to show when no data is input.

Basically I am using a ModalPopUpExtender and it works fine, except that the OK button has an OnClick event that only fires when it is clicked for the 2nd time.. obviously i can progress with populating my OnClick event method for later on - its just annoying that a user has to click my button then ok in the pop up twice before they can get their intended result!

In punched time the first one should be IN and second OUT. A employee would have punched several time a day. Based on that I should take maximum punches and bring that of columns as IN and OUT in gridvew dynamically. How to achieve this?
I have a gridview on my page. I have a checkbox in each row of this gridview. For each checkbox in the gridview, I'd like to update my table accordingly, but I don't want them to have to hit a submit button every time they check the checkbox. I want them to check all the boxes they need to and at the end, they should hit one submit button.

View 2 RepliesI am working with odbcCommand class, in one case I got error that QueryTimeout Expired. Even though this SP is taking only 3-4 secs in DB to execute these specific values, When I set the CommandTimeout=0, then it worked fine.
1)Is it necessary to always use this property while working with Command Class.
2)If it is not suggested to use, but still if I use it then how it will impact the performance.

Using above code, I got succeeded in printing PDF file through command line. But it runs the Acrobat Reader and opens Save dialog box.
In my case, I want to suppress Save dialog box and save the file on other location using c# coding. I mean I want to save a PDF file behind the scene.
I've recently started working in ASP.NET and RDBMS.I'm making a test form where I can do basic add,update,delete operations.I'm using OracleDataClient to do the DB operations.I was able to populate a listbox using OracleDataAdapter.
Now after clicking on update button,I intend to Update in DB.I've Dataadapter with it's update property.But the update query is not happening.The examples I saw over net all have Select command before Update.Is it actually like that or am I missing some point.
How does Oracle DataClient work with Insert,Update,Delete Commands.

i m using that ...but it always transfer the 1st row value even i select first last or middle row ..in gridview ....
