Configuration :: .dll Loaded But Entry Point Not Found?

Sep 20, 2010

<NEWBIE to configuration> I attempted to update a .dll from a 1.1 project to a bin directory and received the following error

Dllname was loaded, but eh DllRegisterServer or DllUnregisterServer entry point was not found.
Dllname may not be exported, or a corrupted version of Dllname may be in memory. Consider using Pview to detect the file and remove it.

I do not have the option of using Pview. I have attempted stopping iis then try remove and restarting server. What other options do I have to delete the dll, or reregister the new dll??

SQL Reporting :: SSRS 2005 Error After Uploading New Reports?

Oct 4, 2010

I have been developing reports using BIDS 2005 and deploying them to a report server on my development machine.

These reports can be called succesfully from both the report manager and my asp.net website.Everything has been working fine.

Some time back some early versions of the reports were deployed to a test server in order that they could be tested away from the development machine. The reports processed successfully.Today I have uploaded a number of completed reports (using Report Manager) to the test server and am getting an error message for each one when I try to run it direct from Report Manager.

The message is: "An error has occurred during report processing Common Language Rutime detected an invalid program"

I've been trying to resolve this for a few hours now and am getting nowhere. Google has thrown up some finds on the error message but these seem to refer to people having issues with the compilation of large methods or forms with a very high number of controls.I can't see this being appropriate because most of the reports are relatively simple and the most complex probably has only 100 different controls.

Created A Web App / Entry Point?

Nov 24, 2010

Just created a blank "ASP.NET Web Application". Where's the entry point?

I see "Default.aspx" which seems to be the default template that calls. "Site.Master" which I guess acts as a layout file. "Global.asax" that seems to provide some method stubs for event handling. And then "Web.config" which seems to have some site-specific settings such as a DB connection string, and some authentication stuff.

But no where do I see any "routes" or anything to indicate that "Default.aspx" should be called by default, or "Global.asax" should be used to handle events. Where's this stuff specified? Is it baked into the core of ASP? Can't I filter all the requests through one C# method and then delegate how I please? And return some sort of Http response?

Security :: Single Point Of Entry For 2 Web Applications?

Oct 29, 2010

I already have 2 web applications running. both of them are using membership and accessing the same database but their application names are different. so basically in my aspnet_Users table, i have users with different applicationIDs and in my aspnet_Applications table I have 2 records in there. so i have 2 separate login locations

..app1login.aspx
..app2login.aspx

What my the business wants is to only have a single point of entry. so they want something like this

..applogin.aspx

and by verifying the username and password pair, my code should be able to route to the appropriate app and bypass its login form. (don't be concerned about the duplicate username between applications, it's been taken cared of)

so I'd like to solicit suggestions from you how should I implement this without modifying my existing setup? and where should I place this login web form in my website? this is the current site structure:

www.site.com/app1
www.site.com/app2

SQL Reporting :: Restrict Access To SSRS?

Mar 29, 2011

I need a reliable method to switch off users' access to SSRS dynamically. If you care about the reason, users are not allowed to access SSRS from home, but they are allowed access from within the factory walls.

I can generate a token or event when they arrive at work or leave, no problem, such is the sophistication of our security system.

So I can create a little .net app that pokes SSRS in some way and tells SSRS to allow that username to access reports. When the users leaves the premises, the .net app will prod SSRS to deny that username access.

I considered dynamically adding and removing usernames from the authentication section of web.config in the SSRS root dir, as in <deny=usernamelist />. But given the frequency of changes (dozens per hour at peak times), that seems too intrusive, as it probably causes the restart of the app.

I tried adding usernames to the ACL on the SSRS physical directory (Microsoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2Reporting ServicesReportServer) as deny reader, and for a few brief minutes I thought I had arrived at a solution, but for some reason SSRS decided to serve pages to denied users seemingly at random. Must be cached somewhere, although I can't for the life of me figure out why that would be happening seemingly at random.

I rather like the ACL idea from the perspective of ease of control, and if there's a simple thing i have overlooked in the way SSRS interacts with IIS and NTFS permissions, I hope someone can point it out so I can understand why the ACL seems to be mostly ignored.

SQL Reporting :: Make SSRS Reports Available Through ReportViewer

Dec 29, 2010

I have SSRS (discountasp.net) and I currently display reports on my web page using Reportviewer and use .net code to authenticate them (username/password). Recently I have bought VPS (Windows Server 2008 Web Edition + .net 4.0) and would like to use SSRS the same way as above. I have never done this before so need some guidance on that just to ensure the server is still "safe". Below are some questions that I think are related but feel free to add other comments that I didn't think about.

1) Set up new user? What permissions are required?
2) Configure SSRS to for external connections?
3) Firewall?
