I have a web site that you can upload images, the image path is saved in the ImgPath field in the data database and retrieves the image and displays it in the grid view. I want to be able to delete the image from a folder within my project when I delete the record. I'm trying to delete it from the Detailsview_ItemDeleting event.
I have a service which reads an image stored in the database. I want to be able to read an image stored on the file system and return that back to the requestor.
i am using TinyMCE AND AsyncFileUpload AND an Update Panel After Uploading , i cannot delete the Images while Adding them to tinymce content because it is being used by another process.
lock (this) { if (File.Exists(_FILE_HANDLER_)) { File.Delete(_FILE_HANDLER_); } }
I have a file name that is either 5464821561564.jpg or 5464821561564R.jpg. If the file has a R at the end of it means it was resized but the orignal is still there. How can i take a file name see if there is a R on it then remove the R so i have orignal file and delete it? So in other words if a file has a letter R on it. It was resized need to delete orignal.
Well basically I can't find anything regarding storing an image within a folder on the server, as appose to the SQL database. I have already written code to store the image within my database, but I also need to store the image as a physical entity for CSS purposes, here's a part of my code which can probably be used.
I have this file upload control. I have created a folder name "images" in my visual studio project. I want to upload image into this folder. BUT, when I am uploading a image, system does not show any error. It is uploading the image. But I cannot see it into the "images" folder. But, when I browse the folder from my computer like if I go to c:/my documents/vs project/my project/images. i can see the uploaded image. Then why the image is not visible from my visual studio?? as the image is not visible in my visual studio project, user can not see the uploaded image. my code is as below:
What is the best approach to storing images in a file system. Currently I am separating the images by day, month and then year. I am also hashing file name so that no two files will be stored with the same name. Lastly, how would I go about using the image file address in a forum?
Which is the better alternative when allowing file uploads on a page (through a Gridview populated by a coded DataSet)? Store the image itself in the database or to store only the path name to the saved file in file system. If it matters, I do not expect to have more than a few dozen images stored in the database at any given time.
How to delete a file in server with out access denied error? Because File.delete(path) is working locally once if I put in IIS and access the application from another computer I am getting access denied error while deleting the file. How to resolve this.?
i am downloading a file from a server and i plan to delete the file that i have downloaded on the server after it gets downloaded on the client side. My download code is working fine but i dont know when to put the command to delete the file.
string filepath = restoredFilename.ToString(); // Create New instance of FileInfo class to get the properties of the file being downloaded FileInfo myfile = new FileInfo(filepath); // Checking if file exists if (myfile.Exists) { // Clear the content of the response Response.ClearContent(); // Add the file name and attachment, which will force the open/cancel/save dialog box to show, to the header Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment; filename=" + myfile.Name); //Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=" + myfile.Name); // Add the file size into the response header Response.AddHeader("Content-Length", myfile.Length.ToString()); // Set the ContentType Response.ContentType = ReturnExtension(myfile.Extension.ToLower()); //// Write the file into the response (TransmitFile is for ASP.NET 2.0. In ASP.NET 1.1 you have to use WriteFile instead) Response.TransmitFile(myfile.FullName); // End the response Response.End(); }
Now i know the response.End() will stop every thing and return the value, so is there another way too do so. I need to call a function
DeleteRestoredFileForGUI(restoredFilename);
to delete the file but dont know where to put it.. i tried putting before and after Response.End() but it does not work.
I am running a SP that entries that are older than 6 months. These entries have a file associated with them. Is there anyway I can delete that physical file with SQL server too? Its a Win2K3 server with sql server 2000.
I m accessing another application by consuming webservice of that application. I m sending file to store and retrieving file from other dabatase. Web service is the only to access another application.Now, I want to delete the file using the same web service where I stored that file in the another database.I m getting exception and I m unable to figure it out.
I want to make a textbox with a specific style, within this style a set of images as background parts, how can i attach these images to the custom control as whenever i take the .dll file and add it to the toolbar the images do not appear. So i tried to make them as resource files and their property as embedded in .resx file, so how to make the css style background image url to be linked to any of those image.
Currently, I am storing images and video clips in my database as a varbinary(max).
The problem is that when my front-end goes to retrieve and play the video, it takes an excessive amount of time to download.
For example, I have a video file: test.avi (5mb). If I attempt to read from database and play avi, it takes about 40 seconds. If I attempt to play this test.avi from the filesystem, it takes about 10 seconds to load.
I have investigated compression/decompression, but those seem to be as time-consuming as just loading up the raw data from the database.
Should I scrap storing video clips in the database, and go for a file system approach. I would really like to keep everything clean, secure, and organized. Which is why I am storing images, video clips, etc. in database.
I have developed an Asp.Net application with backend sqlserver 2008 database. Now i want to install the MSI file in client system along with database file. In client system i want to install the sqlserver with out any sql editor. i.e The sqlserver shouldn't use for development purpose. The sqlserver must acts just like engine between application and database file. In sqlserver which edition i have to install in client system to do the above things ?
I have a file delete option for the files uploaded by the user, user can upload many files at a time.The uploaded files will be stored in a folder in server and when its is deleted its is moved to trash folder from where it will be manually cleared.
when a user tries to delete many files in the web page IIS get hangs and all session is expired. This case only present in server,in local host this issue is not available.
ALL the operations is carried out completely ie
Database gets updated. Files is moved from upload folder to trash folder in server.
I cannot determine what is going wrong,I just tried to delete many files totally around 35-36 MB. Is the issue with process taking long or is there any changes have to be made in order to perform large files operation, my project is done on VS2005 which is running in 2008 server.
Error message says there is another application using that file at the moment.However, I cannot find where the problem is since I have already disposed all the instances based on that file.What's more odd is after I close the debug page, I can easily remove that page in OS file system.
the file is being saved on the server & needs to be same on the local system too so used the above code but the actual size is nt being saved on the local system if the file size on server is 3 MB in local system i gets saved in kbs
Created a new virtual directory on my web sit in IIS 6.. set proper settings and wild card extensions... published via file system from dev environment to the server but i get a page cannot be found 404 error when browsing the site...
I'm using System.IO.File.Create to create a file. I'm not writting to it with a stream writer, just creating it.
I get a server error in the front end when the app trys to open the newly created file - that the file is in use. Garbage collection then seems to come along and a few minutes later all is OK.
Now I know if I was using Streamwriter I would have to close it. Does the same apply to creating?
I've read that opening a stream writer to the file then immediately closing it will fix this.
