Error When Instantiating MySqlDataAdapter "Format Of The Initialization String"?

May 25, 2010

<%@ Page Language="javascript"%>'m writing a website that's a little heavy on the database connection calls, so I've decided to try to encapsulate it in a Javascript pseudo-class. When I try to instantiate the MySqlDataAdapter, I get the error "Format of the initialization string does not conform to specification starting at index 0." While I can appreciate this, I've used the same connection string (more or less) across many pages now, without issue when I'm not trying to use this class.I'm a little confused - does anyone have any idea why line would be throwing this error?

MVC :: MVC2 C# - How To Find First Record Starting With "String" And Return Position In Index

Jul 12, 2010

I want to do is to get the record number in my database of the first record that matches my search. Its to skip to a random point in the database based on user input.

[Code]....

It returns the number of records that preceed the first one to match the string. I have tried to call this procedure from MVC and it always returns -1, so I have a fundamental problem there. I have also tried ot figure out how to just duplicate the code in MVC and I also cannot seem to get anywhere on that front.

Does anyone know a simple elegant solution to either embed this code diretly into MVC or to call my stored procedure from MVC and get the correct integer response back, instead of -1? I am engaged in relearning development after many years, so I am getting stuck on the basics.

AJAX :: CalendarExtender Does Not Conform To Format?

Jan 11, 2011

I have two calendar controls where format is set to "d-M-yyyy". When the corresponding textboxes are filled (from calendar control or typed) i do acallback with the new value. When value from first textbox > value from second textbox I swap the values. This part works... However if i try to set the values by using calendar.set_selectedDate(value) - where value is a string in the same format as the calendar should accept - then calendar produces output in the format "MM-dd-yyyy" which is not correct!

As a result, I'm now setting values for the text-fields, which does not update the calendar..

C# - Using String.Format To Build Regular Expressions: "Input String Was Not In A Correct Format"

Mar 7, 2011

I'm bulding document-from-template engine. At certain points I need to match on Reg Exp groups and replace template text with content from a db.

I 'hardcoded' my RegExp initially, doing something like: Regex r = new Regex(@"{DocSectionToggle::(?<ColumnName>w+)::(?<ResponseValue>.+)}[[(?<SectionContent>.+)]]", RegexOptions.Multiline);

it does group capture, so the syntax isn't the prettiest.

Just to make things neater and because I want' to keep the patterns in web.config or elsewhere, I've 'evolved' algorithm to something like:

[code]...

But I'm getting an error: 'Input string was not in correct format'.

Is this a limitation of string.Format(...)?

Visual Studio :: Debugging With Development Server Initialization Slow?

Apr 25, 2010

Debugging using the ASP.NET Development server is extremely slow to initialize. The behavior I'm getting is that if I launch the DevServer from VS2008, the first attempt to load a page takes minutes. After that, it's fine. Before the first page load, the DevServer UI responds to input normally (I can bring it up from the status area, use its context menu, and move the window around) until the first page load comes in. Then it shows the busy cursor (spinning blue ring) for 2-6 minutes before finally completing. There is no significant processor or I/O activity during this. After that, it runs normal speed, quite fast.

SQL Server :: Failed To Generate A User Instance Of SQL Server Due To A Failure In Starting The Process?

Mar 9, 2011

In fact, I DO NOT want to ask a question but to share one solution to this. One cause of this problem is you did not register your sql express on iis.I installed .net 3.5 sp1, then ran aspnet_iis -i, then installed sql express 2005 advanced. Yes, here came the notorious alert. So, I ran aspnet_regiis again and everything is OK.Run aspnet_regiis before you have installed sql express.

DataSource Controls :: Incorrect String / Format The QueryBuilder String Correctly In Code?

Jul 7, 2010

I'm concatenating a string in codebehind to use in a sql select statement.

in aspx

<asp:Label ID="LabelHidden" runat="server" Visible="False"></asp:Label>
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [Data] WHERE [ActivityName] IN (@ActivityName) AND ([ID] = @ID)"
<SelectParameters>
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="DropDownList_Employees" Name="ID"
PropertyName="SelectedValue" Type="Int32" />
<asp:ControlParameter ControlID="LabelHidden" Name="ActivityName"
Type="String" />
</SelectParameters>
in codebehind
foreach (ListItem li in ListBox_Activities.Items)
{
if (li.Selected)
{
queryBuilder += li + "', ";
}
queryBuilder = queryBuilder.Substring(0, queryBuilder.Length - 1);
LabelHidden.Text = queryBuilder;

When i run the code it comes up blank. I did a query trace and it seems to be running as

exec sp_executesql N'SELECT * FROM [Data] WHERE [ActivityName] IN (@ActivityName) AND ([ID] = @ID)',N'@EmployeeID int,@ActivityName nvarchar(50)',@EmployeeID=4,@ActivityName=N'Production Technical Support'', Tools Development'','

with exta "'s

How can i format the queryBuilder string correctly in my code?

VS Macro / Add-in To Convert String Concatenations To String.format Style

Jul 28, 2010

I have project in development where string operations like "Hi " + variable + ", welcome to Project" are used at many places (given example is very minor one).

One of the requirement is to convert it to string.format style.

It is very long and tedious job, where I would not like to break earlier working code due to any human error might happen while converting it.

I would like to if any Macro or VS command which I can create to handle it. Just like we mark block of code and do Extract function in Re-factor options.

.net Development Server Starting Unintentionally?

Feb 10, 2011

I normally debug my web applications using a local copy of iis. Today while testing that code I suffered a couple of stack overflows. Following that visual studio failed to connect to iis to debug further. After rebooting I was again able to debug my web projects against iis. The annoying problem I have now is that the asp.net development server (Cassini) also starts up when I click start debugging. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing the unwanted server start? I've checked my app properties and use visual studio development server is not checked.

JavaScript - Format A String Using A String Pattern?

Sep 23, 2010

I have a displayFormat pattern "$###,###,###;-$###,###,###;#"( it can be different too) and I want to reformat the value in the AspxTextbox after deleting the ',' on GotFocus and LostFocus events by calling the following JavaScript function :

[code]....

I have tried to use ASPxFormatter but it is an internal class that is not indented to be used in a user project.Using String.Format('{0:' + displayFormat + '}', parseInt(value))); didn't work too , it threw an exception since String.format doesn't accept this format of pattern,Can you provide a way to reformat my string to any pattern I want not only the one I recite since ?

I have modified a part of code of an existing web application. Once it worked fine on my local machine, I moved it to the common server. But, when different users hit the common server, the web application is behaving differently. I tried stopping and starting the website on the common server and it worked fine for sometime around a day and again it started working differently for different users. Then I tried to restart the IIS on the common server and it worked fine for once and again bounced back.Can anyone please suggest the areas where I can check to resolve the issue.
