Jun 29, 2010My client needs to be able to perform a mass email mailout of a newsletter (just once a month). Does anyone know of any resources I can use to code this ? Its on a hosted server and im using C#. I have found one example that sends the email aynchronously, but for some reason the emails just dont get sent. I have used the same code for sending an individual email, but it wont go when sent synchronously. Heres the code im currently using

Ive stepped through the code on my development machine and Ive confirmed that the SendEmail Method is being executed and I have used the sendmail method to send an individual email (which works). When I deploy the code to a hosted environment, the emails dont get sent.
Sending An HTML Newsletter To Various Subscribers

I created two alternate views: Text/Html and Text/Plain
In Outlook the email looks fine but in GMail I don't get the Html version.
If I remove the Text/Plain version then the HTML version is displayed.

DataSource Controls :: Store Members And Newsletter Subscribers In Database?
May 18, 2010On a website I'm building user's can subscribe to newsletters by entering their email address into a form and submitting. This will then add them to a 'Newsletter_Subscribers' table in the database.
Users can also sign-up to the website by entering their username/password/email details. They also have the option of subscribing to the newsletter. If they choose to do this then their email address is added to the 'Newsletter_Subscribers' table.
However, I wish to make the data more consistent rather than storing the email address into two different unrelated tables in the database.
Has anyone tackled this issue before, and what is the best way to go about storing this information?
One idea I had was to have a 'Users' table, a 'Users.Members' table and a 'Users.Subscribers' table. All three would have a relating UserID column, with the email address stored in the 'Users' table but I'm not sure this is the best method as I would also wish to store the Username/Password in the 'Users' table in case we had a 'Users.Advertisers' table for example.

Jan 25, 2010I have several text boxes on a page that need to be filled out. When users fill out those boxes they need the ability to enter in bold, italics, superscripts, and trademarks. It has been recommended to use a WYSIWYG. The problem with a WYSIWYG is that it is all tied to 1 large text box. I just need a panel on the side that can hold Bold, Italics buttons to transform whatever text the user has selected to be Bolded/Italicized and then I need to be able to add in predetermined Superscripts and Trademarks where the cursor is as defined by the user. Now this would work with a WYSIWYG but I need this to apply to several (sometimes up to 10 fields on a page) text boxes on a page.

Nov 8, 2010Using sql server and trying to insert decimal values using a ASP.NET C# code. I get the value for hours from a text box through user input and I'm trying to insert it to the database.

What happens is it rounds off the hours to interger value. So if I insert 22.3 in the text box what i get in the database is 22 and if I insert 22.7 I get 23 in the database. I do not need any rounding but need to get the values as it is. ( that is 22.3 and 22.7 respectively)

Aug 24, 2010I have an asp.net website that requires users to login using their Active Directory credentials. All users of the website have AD accounts. Some of the users are at remote locations and share a common computer login (I know this is not recommended but it is what it is, I have no say in that). Every so often a user will log into my website and click the Remember Passwod box which causes the next person that comes along to not be prompted to log in. All users are on IE 7. I have tried having them go into tools and deleting the cookies, saved passwords, etc but when they go to my website they are still not being prompted to log in. I have recently migrated to IIS 7 and I understand there is a way to have the user enter the site through a custom form but I have not gotten that far yet. How can I make sure the users password is removed from IE?

Mar 10, 2011I'm trying to do a bulk insert of data into the aspnet_Membership table. I have existing records from a previous version of the system I am re-building in asp.net. I've been researching and asking questions, but I am still missing something. What is the best way to do this? I believe I need to grab my previous table and iterate over each record and insert into the new membership table via the Membership.CreateUser method. So far I have been unable to make it work. My code so far in the on click event of a button is below.
