ScriptManager CompositeScript Doesn't Work With Javascript That Requires Querystring Parameter
Feb 9, 2010
I have a jQuery function in a .js file, and the function requires a querystring parameter to be passed. If I try to use the CompositeScript feature in the ScriptManager, it pukes on the file that has the querystring.
If you have too many javascript file includes with a compositescript in a script manager you get this error..."The resource URL cannot be longer than 1024 characters. If using a CompositeScriptReference, reduce the number of ScriptReferences it contains, or combine them into a single static file and set the Path property to the location of it."
I know how to fix this using a plane old asp:scriptmanager (use script manager proxies). But how do I fix it using a ToolkitScriptManager?
<ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="GeneralScriptManager" CombineScripts="true" CombineScriptsHandlerUrl="Utility/CombineScriptsHandler.ashx" runat="server" AsyncPostBackTimeout="480" EnablePageMethods="true"> <CompositeScript> <Scripts> <asp:ScriptReference Path="JavaScript/jQuery/jquery-1.4.1.min.js" / ... A whole lot more script references here </Scripts> </CompositeScript> </ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager>
UpdateI've tried doing this with the script combiner included in the sample application. I think it's right, but I've been wrong plenty of times before... No luck though.Another update So, I thought that maybe if I included multiple CompositeScript blocks within the single ToolkitScriptManager it might create them all as separate files. Nope. Still get the same error. No one has any ideas? When I Google "toolkitscriptmanager cannot be longer than 1024 characters" this StackOverflow question is the number 1 result...
I searched all day a solution to my problem.I worked with MVC 2 with visual studio 2010.I want to bind dropdownlists according to the value selected in an other dropdownlidt (but the datas are not linked in the database). In fact, I have a function in a controller and I tried to call it thanks javascript. But during the debug, it never goes in this function. If I'm not clear, ask me some question.
The thing is that, the first if statement works fine and the 'javascript' shows an alert and close the window, but in the second if statement the javascript shows the message but doesn't close the window.
I have a new web application. I've setup the application and it's working on one server(xxx) but it's not working on another(yyy). I changed the web.config file(checked throughly and I've changed the connection string and appsettings).
What could be the error?
The login page is working but when I proceed a Javascript error occurs...
(Line: 48 Error: Object doesn't support this property or method)
I have an UpdatePanel on the page which I'd like to trigger using javascript.First of all my code perfectly works if it's in a website not being inheriting from a masterpage. Now when you put exactly the same code into a website which inherits from a masterpage, the UpdatePanel wouldn't get fired anymore.
After upgrading our project to the .net 4.0 framework (from 3.5), we facing some problems with ajax calls with html in the parameters. As soon as the user enters some html in a text area the ajax call isn't executed anymore. If the user enters plain text only, there is no problem.
I have an asyncfileupload control within a panel control. The panel is initially set to visible=false on page load. After a user clicks a button to display the panel contents however, I set the panel to visible and the user can then use the asyncfileupload. The problem however, is it seems much of the javascript associated with the asyncfileupload, does not function properly when the panel containing the upload control is set from invisible to visible. If I set my panel's "visible" property to "true" initially, then it works fine. My javascript error message is as follows:
"Form contains a file input, but is missing method=POST and enctype=multipart/form-data on the form. The file will not be sent."
Basically within my asyncfileupload control, I have the following line:
[Code]....
In this scenario, my "args" variable is always null (when I set my pane's "visible" property to "true" on page load, the args variable DOES contain data. Any idea why switching a panel from visible=false to visible=true, would cause an error like this?
I have put the following method in my master page. It works when I call it on a full post back, but when I call it from a updatePanel's asyncPostBack no alert is shown.
I am using a third party UI Library (devexpress) to implement some data grids. These grids work with Callbacks (not UpdatePanel partial Postbacks).
I am trying to use Scriptmanager RegisterStartupScript to execute some code on the client after the callback. This works great with partial postbacks but does not work with Callbacks.
Is there any way to queue client side code for execution inside the callback server side handler?
I have a page that uses ajax scripmanager > progressupdate so I can display the user a message of "Loading, wait..". Now, my question is the following. I have the EnablePartialRendering set to true, mainly because if I set it to false my panel with the loading stuff doesn't display. When is set to true, then if I want to set the text and visibility on a row that is normally set to visible=false, it just doesn't happen. My row doesn't show. My "Loading" message will only display if a stored procedure exist, if it doesn't I just need to let the user know.
I am using a masterpage that contains a javascript script (does not matter what it does) and on each page under that masterpage I am registering that script to run on page load. On the page under the masterpage, I am calling a modalpopupextender to display on a button click. Now, if I disable the register startupscript, the popup extender works fine, if I register the startup up script it does not
I had this working fine using the second example when using .net 4 and the Ajax toolkit for 4 but I am now having to rollback to 3.5 due to a vendor requirement.
Here is a little bit of extra info:
If I put the script in page and not in the masterpage and just run with a window.onload, both work fine, which is why I have figured that it must be something that I am doing with the registration of the script.
When I say it does not matter what I put as the sript, I mean, it can be a complex element property adjustment or a simple alert, nothing seems to work.
I have this script in the masterpage because the script is used on everypage of the website.
I am also using the modalpopextender.show() on button click instead of using the element that it is attached to being the launching element.
If you enable the "Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" security policy option in Windows, attempting to use many of the cryptographic classes in the .NET Framework will result in an InvalidOperationException. By default, ASP.NET uses AES to encrypt the ViewState blob, so it fails. You can work around this by adding a key like this to web.config:
And that covers you for basic ASP.NET use. My problem is this: I have a large, complex ASP.NET web applications that makes heavy use of ScriptManagers (the foundation of ASP.NET AJAX) and needs to be deployed by a government customer who must enable this FIPS policy setting. Any ASP.NET page with a ScriptManager on it throws this exception:
[InvalidOperationException: This implementation is not part of the Windows Platform FIPS validated cryptographic algorithms.] System.Security.Cryptography.SHA1Managed..ctor() +3607454 System.Security.Policy.Hash.get_SHA1() +45 System.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler.GetAssemblyInfoInternal(Assembly assembly) +85 System.Web.Handlers.ScriptResourceHandler.GetAssemblyInfo(Assembly assembly) +99 System.Web.Handlers.RuntimeScriptResourceHandler.GetScriptResourceUrlImpl(List`1 assemblyResourceLists, Boolean zip, Boolean notifyScriptLoaded) +525 System.Web.Handlers.RuntimeScriptResourceHandler.System.Web.Handlers.IScriptResourceHandler.GetScriptResourceUrl(List`1 assemblyResourceLists, Boolean zip, Boolean notifyScriptLoaded) +910 System.Web.Handlers.RuntimeScriptResourceHandler.System.Web.Handlers.IScriptResourceHandler.GetScriptResourceUrl(Assembly assembly, String resourceName, CultureInfo culture, Boolean zip, Boolean notifyScriptLoaded) +193 System.Web.UI.ScriptReference.GetUrlFromName(ScriptManager scriptManager, IControl scriptManagerControl, Boolean zip) +306 System.Web.UI.ScriptManager.RegisterUniqueScripts(List`1 uniqueScripts) +169 System.Web.UI.ScriptManager.RegisterScripts() +407 System.Web.UI.ScriptManager.OnPagePreRenderComplete(Object sender, EventArgs e) +200 System.Web.UI.Page.OnPreRenderComplete(EventArgs e) +11041982 System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) +3672
Even adding the <enforceFIPSPolicy enabled="false"/> element to web.config does not resolve the exception.
Is there any way to configure ASP.NET such that ScriptManager can be used with the Windows FIPS security policy?
Users will get to my site using a specific parameter, e.g. :http://www.mysite.com/whatever/?keepTrackOfThisValue=fooorhttp://www.mysite.com/who/cares/?keepTrackOfThisValue=barI would like to store the value of this peculiar parameter in Session everytime I found it in the QueryString. I'm currently using the Session_Start event in Global.asax in order to store this but I would like to override the value each time the parameter value change, which is not possible my way.Where would you do this ?
