View 1 RepliesHow can I get all the current users online in MVC 2 (like chat)?
Remember that MVC 2 (or v1.0) template was built-up with membership view/controller/model. That is possible using that model, I can get the online users?
I am trying to create ajax based chat for my application users; I need to get list of All currently online users of the application ..Is there a way to retrieve such a list with facebook aPI? if not how can I implement that?
View 1 Repliesi am using membership classes,,, i want to fetch the list of users who are online based on a condition... the condition is that i want to fetch the users with a specified userids... eg i have 10 user's userids and i want to check which of these users are online..
View 6 RepliesI have below code to display "list of all the online users" inside listBox using Membership function.
Code:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
if (!IsPostBack) {
MembershipUserCollection allUser = Membership.GetAllUsers(); // to get all the users
List<MembershipUser> onlineUsers = new List<MembershipUser>(); //creating list of online users
foreach (MembershipUser user in allUser)
[Code] ....
I want to remove that user from the list of online users, who himself has logged in. Example: if I had logged-in with UserName: Admin, then this Admin should not show to me in the list of "online users"
Tried below Code but not working:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
if (!IsPostBack) {
MembershipUserCollection allUser = Membership.GetAllUsers(); // to get all the users
List<MembershipUser> onlineUsers = new List<MembershipUser>(); //creating list of online users
MembershipUser m_user = Membership.GetUser(); //to get self logged-in user
[Code] ....
We have implemented the ASP membership and roles..and we would like to display the users currently logged in and also display the number of users online so we can display that on the page. The list of users woudl only be available to our admins. BUt the number of users will show for everyone.
View 9 RepliesI have a page in my application which always shows updated list of online users. Now, to keep the list-which is stored in application object- updated, i do the below steps
add user to list when login remove user on log off Then to handle browser close/navigate away situations, I have a timestamp along with the username in the collectionAn ajax call every 90 seconds updates the timestamp.
The problem:
I need something to clean this list every 120 seconds to remove entries with old timestamps.
How do I do this within my web application? ie Call a function every 2 mins.
PS: I thought of calling a webservice every 2 mins using a scheduler , but the hosting environment do not allow any scheduling.
Working on my first asp.net webpage. i have followed video tutorials and implemented asp.net membership for login/security.Using Visual Studio 2010 i can open the Asp.net configuration page for management locally.But then if I want my site admin to manage users/security online, how is this done? Like manage through a web browser. I guess this asp.net configuration GUI is not available on the internet?
View 4 RepliesWe have asp.net configuration tool to manage user's permission and role for our offline website,
it is working very fine.
Now, I have uploaded my website and aspnetdb.mdf
now i want to manage users and it security and roles online.
How can i have asp.net Configuration tool
I've got a website project and I use my own login security and save the user and other info in session variables. Is there any way to know when they are online and offline by their user name I have in a session variable? Or do I need to use another method such as the asp.net user security?
I do know with the asp.net security I can check if a user is authenticated.
Im using Visual Web Developer 2010 , ASP.NET and VB
Im using the "ASPNETDB.MDF" database for membership and others ,
1-- i created a gridview in my masterpage
2-- Connected to to " ASPNETDB.MDF" and "asp_Users Table"
3 -- Selected all
4-- My Select the Field "UserName"
Now im trying to get the On-line Users .
Im having a problem , becouse i can't see it when i debug the page, i changed the font , background color , i havent got any erros , what i need to do ?
Just wondering how to implement a user's list into website ? im using ASP.NET C#. I want to be able to:
add/delete usersadd/remove roles
i want to display current loged in username by global.asax
View 6 RepliesI finally got membership and roles setup and seems to be working. I have setup a page to allow the creation of a user and editing of roles for a user. I would like to setup a page with a gridview that displays all users and what roles they are assigned. I remember running across someone else that was looking to do the same thing, but cant find it. Not sure if it was in this forum or online somewhere else.
But i found that i can use the aspnet_Membership_GetAllUsers procedure in my db to get all the users, but how can i add the roles to each person and possibly setup the gridview so that each role they have, is displayed on their row in the gridview So i would like to see something like this maybe more data displayed depending on the client request.
Username Email Last Login Roles
meofcourse me@hi.com 08/25/2010 X Admins X Approvers
themofcourse them@hi.com 05/25/2009 X Approvers
The X indicating a checkbox.. and have it setup so they can uncheck the role, that triggers the update and causes the list to refresh and display the new current roles for the individual users. The procedure listed about does not return the roles, so wasnt sure if i could use that procedure and union it with another to get the combined results im looking for.
Quick question: is it possible to retrive a users certificate store i.e. list all of the client's Personal Certificates?
Just to be clear, I am talking about the certificates installed on the clients machine, not the servers. I have managed to list the server's certificates, but so far have been unsuccesful with the above.
Given a particular user group id, how can we most quickly retrieve the list of users under that user group id?
View 2 RepliesHow can I detect the country name of our users list in asp.net membership provider. In addition, the country name which can be found by IP address.
Is there any built in functionality within ASP.net membership provider? If yes then it is good and if not then how can I implement this?
I would like to make the "allow users" list in my web config to be pulled from a table for easier management.

I have the requirement to export all my users and custom profile properties to an excell spreadsheet but i can find a way to do it. I have found several exampls of how to export the Profile information eg(
UserName
Email
PasswordQuestion
Comment
IsApproved
IsLockedOut
LastLockoutDate
CreationDate
LastLoginDate
LastActivityDate
LastPasswordChangedDate
IsOnline
ProviderName
)
but i can't see a way to export the following info for example;
<profile enabled="true" defaultProvider="AccessProfileProvider">
<providers>
<add name="AccessProfileProvider" type="AccessProviders.AccessProfileProvider" connectionStringName="ProfileAccessProvider" applicationName="MandS_2010" description="Stores and retrieves profile data from an personal Access database."/>
</providers>
<properties>
<group name="SupplierProfile">
<add name="CompanyName" type="String"/>
<add name="HoldingCompany" type="String"/>
<add name="Address" type="String"/>
<add name="Telephone" type="String"/>
<add name="Fax" type="String"/>
<add name="TypeOfSupplier" type="String"/>
<add name="DirectSupplierCode" type="String"/>
<add name="Alist" type="String"/>
<add name="otherCode" type="String"/>
</group>
I need to populate a dropdown list with users who match certain role criteria. For example, if I have the following roles: Manager, Employee, Supervisor I would like to populate the list with only the Manager and Employee roles. Some individuals have multiple roles and they should be excluded if they also have the Supervisor role as illustrated below:
Name: A , Role(s): Manager, Employee, Supervisor
Name: B, Role(s): Employee
Name: C, Role(s): Manager, Employee
The final list should only contain names B & C.
I can use Roles.GetUsersInRole("Employee") but I am not sure if this is efficient or not.
I have a profile page where a user can edit their name, city, image, etc.
How can I display the profile database as a list of users, their information, and their image?
As you know, the profile database is not the same as a custom database. The strings are bunched together.
I'm looking to be able to manage my users and roles online. So that I don't have to re create the wheel, is there a way I can upload the asp.net configuration tool for my website?
View 4 Replieswhat I need to know is how to show a count of how many users are signed on with a custom sql script, here is what i got that shows total users but not total online
[Code]....
Again this gives a total count but i need a total count of who is online with this setting, and try to keep it in sql statement if possible as i have not yet learned how to use stored procedures.
I need a reliable way of checking if a user is logged into a web based game. This is the scenario:
I have a game on the front end built in Flash with Actionscript 3, that calls a web Service in .NET. So in some way I'd like to create a reliable way of getting a list of users that are logged into the game. I would need to create a Timer in Actionscript that calls a method in the Web Service every certain amount of time, but I'm not sure which is the best way to do it on the server side.
I remember in the old days with classic asp I'd use global.asa and it was not reliable at all. Also, checking a database with a boolean, would always depend on the user clicking on "logout". So i guess there needs to be some kind of asyncronous coding in there somehow.
