if in the code behind, I set the label to "You must enter a value if the textbox is empty" to validate it on the server side and this is fine, but if javascript is enabled, I don't want to show the client side validation and the server side label together. Is this something where I would just have to disable the client-side validators if javascript was enabled?
We've deployed some reports from a server machine which can be accessed without any problems if you are logged onto the server itself by going to the URL of http://servername/ReportServer. However if we try and access the reports from a client machine (even if we use the same administrator Windows account) we get the Windows security window appear asking for a Username and Password to be entered in order to connect to the server. We've tried entering this but we then just get a blank screen after being re prompted a few times to enter the details.
Now I'm not sure whether this will be a Reporting Services or a Windows issue. Could it be a setting within IIS? It can't really be a user thing as the same user works on the server but not on the Client machine so it's more of a machine problem. It's as if there are some authentication settings somewhere that need to be set.
What is Web services? What is Web services? How can I Transfer the data from server to client and client to server using XML. Need one simple Example program(C# web Application) ...
<identity impersonate="true" userName="webserverloginname" password="webserverpassword" /> sername1= username of the system password1 = passowrd of the system username2= username of the the database password2 = passowrd of the database
client system which access the database server aswell as web server
When the user selects the list of files from a page and hit's download selected, then a post back happens to server and starts zipping on the server. This works great until we hit the timeout on the page ( which is default to 90 seconds ) and just returns the process to the page even though the backend process is still zipping. Is it possible to show the size of zip file when the file is being zipped instead of waiting till the end to provide the download link?
I've created a perfect matrix report using the nifty wizard and it's exactly what the client wants, but they would also like to see the detail for each row.I'm able to create subreports and pass parameters and all that jazz, but I'm having a hard time setting up a subreport for this matrix.
I would like to identify users that connect on a intranet web server (IIS) with client certificates.
I've set up a CA server on a Windows 2003 server pc. On my development pc, i've a windows xp with a web server (IIS) running. From my web server, i generated a certificate request (i specified the netbios name of my web server because this setup is for an intranet), i used that request to generate a web server certificate and i installed it on my IIS to allow SSL connection. . Now, i can connect with https to my web server from an internet explorer. I configured the web server to 'require client certificates'.
I would like to authenticate the users with a client certificate installed on each users pc. My CA server allows users to request a client certificate (domain user) from the CA server just by typing the url of the CA server and click 'User Certificate', 'submit' and then 'Install this certificate'.
In order to test my setup, i opened a Internet Explorer from a pc which resides in the domain and i requested and installed the user certificate. Then i connected to my web server and i get a window with the title "Choose a digital certificate". This window is always empty and never proposes the client certificate i previously installed on the user pc.
I've no idea of what i missed during my setup. I'm still wondering how the browser knows how to select which certificate must be displayed according to the url typed in the address bar.
I installed SSRS on the same sever with database. now due to performace issue I wanted to install it on different server other than Database server. my question is what are the pros and cons? does anybody did that before?
I am having an issue where if I click on the print icon in the report viewer embedded in an application, I get the error "unable to load client print control". However, when running through report manager, this is fine. I am running SQL Server 2005 SP3 and report viewer 9.
first of all: this probelm was already an issue in [URL] but it does not resolve my problem: I have VS2008 and SQL Server 2008 Express with Adv. Option istalled. When compiling a page with the reportviewer control I get the error Type 'Microsoft.Reporting.RdlBuildProvider' cannot be instantiated under a partially trusted security policy (AllowPartiallyTrustedCallersAttribute is not present on the target assembly). C:websitesadAgencyweb.config
From the obove mentioned post I learned to use <trust level="Full" /> in the web.config file (which I never used on other Implementations that work). Now the compilation works, but when I start the web application and call that page I get a lot of JScrip Errors like: Runtime error in Microsoft JScript: 'RSClientController' is undefined, which comes from a line in the dynamic page.aspx file: document.getElementById('ctl00_maincontent_ReportViewer1').ClientController = new RSClientController "ctl00_maincontent_ReportViewer1_ctl03", "ReportFramectl00_maincontent_ReportViewer1", ...
I should mention, that I had SQL Server 2005 Express uninstalled before the 2008 version.
I have a problem in deploying the reports. when i try to deploy the reports it shows that Report Sever not working but when i try to start my SQL Server Reporting Services will get the below mentioned error so please can one could suggest me on this.
"Could not Start the SQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) service on local computer
ERROR1053: Service didnt respond to start or control request in a timely fashion"
Please suggest me some good reference for learning RDLC reports. Does it provides all the features as provided by BOE3.1(Business Objects Enterprise 3.1).
I wrote an ActiveX control using .net Framework 2.0 WMI to extract user's printer property. In my test environment I had to install .net framework and use the configuration tool to change the security zone to full trust. Would I have to do the same manually on all client machines? It would be fine if all client has to do is click "yes" to install an ActiveX but another if they actually have to run configuration steps themselves to change the trust level. If the client can't do it without running a manual setup I would need to create classic none .net ActiveX control to do the same thing. Can I use VS 2008 to create none .net ActiveX controls? How do I exact printer property without WMI?
Initially after deploying SSRS 2005 report on server, the client machine could not avail print functionality because of the error "Unable to load client print control". Inspite of allowing ActiveX installation, the print functionality was not working. Googling on this issue I found that rsclientprint.dll needs to be registered in C:Windowssystem32.successfully registering this dll, print functionality started working on some machines. However on some machines it started giving the error 'Error loading resource library.(0x8007007E)'.
I have installed the sql reporting server in my system. Issue 1:I am not able to publish the reports from visual studio. When I publish a login box is displayed, and when given admin credentials, it does not accept and shows the box again. The users I tried to login with are members of Administrator groupIssue 2:Report manager URL is given as localhost/Reports_SQLEXPRESS in reporting service configuration manager. But when I use that in the browser, it asks for login, and when provided admin credentials, it gets redirected to localhost/Reports_SQLEXPRESS/Pages/Folder.aspx. There are no property tabs, just the report server page header. The only links are "home" and "help".
I have situation where I need to authenticate a client across multiple web services. Basically each service needs to identify the client and know a few other small pieces of information about the client.
The way I have it working now is that the needed identifying information is stored in a session table in a database by the authenticating web server. The web server hands the client an string, which IDs the database entry and gets passed to the other web services. The web services then use this string to pull the needed information about the client from the database entry.
It has occurred to me that it might be possible to give the client an encrypted blob that contains the user ID and other needed information, which is rather small, and avoid using the database for this completely. The client would just pass around the blob (like the string in the previous paragraph) without needing to know what it contains, and only the web services would know how to decrypt it.
This should eliminate the need for the database to store the session information and would make the whole process a good bit simpler. With the database you have to worry about cleaning up old sessions and timeouts and so on.
So my question: is passing around sensitive data from service to service via client considered safe and acceptable? Is it possible to do this in a way that would eliminate worry about the client tampering with the data? What encryption algorithms would be good to use?
