I need to configured my web application to display a warning message to the user 5 minutes before the authentication session expires. I found a javascript code that acts as a counter, however I still could not figured out how to make the page to refresh when the user clicks the Ok.
this is the javascript code...
<script
type="text/javascript">
var leftime =5;
var interval;
interval = setInterval( 'change()' , 600000);
function change()
{ lefttime --;
if(lefttime<=2) alert("the session will be off, left time is "+lefttime+ " second!")
}
</script>
i am using create user wizard and capturing other information within content template when a new userregisters. Some of the textboxes are binded to required field validators.there is a validation control on the page and ShowMessage box is True.If they dont complete some of the text boxes then the message box pops Up with the error message.It does not however include information errors like "User already exists" or Email address already existsfrom the create user wizard membership UserName and Password Textboxesis it possilbe to hook all of these up so I get one message box with all errors including membership ones?
I am trying to force to show to the Logon popup when the session is timeout in Integrated Windows Authentication Enabled website. The session_timeout is firing during the session timeout, but the User.Identity.IsAuthenticated is true. How force to use the Windows Logon Screen when the session is timeout.
My 3.5 app uses Forms Authentication. I create an authentication cookie (ticket) with an expiration date of one day. The cookie's IsPersistent is set to True. I do not use any session variables. Session timeout is the default 20 minutes.
Here's the problem:
When the session times out in 20 minutes, the user is redirected to the logon page even though the authentication cookie has not expired.
Why does this happen? I thought the session and the cookie were independent of each other.
I have a "Save" button in my asp.net (VB.Net 3.5) page. When clicked it saves data in the database and redirects to another page. Before it redirects, I have to show a popup messagebox informing the clients that the data has been saved. The popup box will have a "OK" button. Only when this button is clicked, the page should be redirected to another page.
If I used Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript to register a javascript to show an alert message, it is never shown and page is redirected straightaway. Similar behavior happens when I tried to show a mesage box by creating it through a server control as described
at http://www.codeproject.com/KB/webforms/NingLiangSimpleControl.aspx.
I have the following scenario and I'm not sure how to implement/tackle it.
I have a login control and roles for different users. When a user logs in I need to display a javascript alert only if the user fullfill special criteria (so not for everyone).
I have tapped into the x_Authenticate and x_LoggedIn events.
In x_Authenticate I do the MembershipProvider verification that the user exists as well as some custom verification. At this point I know that the user has successfully logged in and I can verify if they match the popup criteria.
In x_LoggedIn depending on the user type I redirect to different pages.
Ideally the x_Authenticate event would be the best place to show the popup, however the page isn't rendered then. Instead right after x_Authenticate the x_LoggedIn method gets executed and redirects to the needed page.
I need to display a javascript confirm box after the user successfully logs into the application. If the select 'yes' of the confirm box then I need to navigate them to a different page and if they select 'no' the default.aspx page should be displayed. I am using the login control.
I tried to use ClientScript. RegisterClientScriptBlock on Login1_Authenticate event, it didn't work. I tried the same thing on the Page_Load event of Default.aspx as well as Master Page load event, that also didnt work.
I am implementing membership provider. For example, anonymous users are not allowed to acces pages under the folder, namely XXX.
When user clicks to navigate any of those pages I would like to display a popup window. I know I can implement button clikc events. But there are many buttons and links. What is the most effective way to do that?
actually want to give a popup 2 min before the session timeout,i have actually found out a way to do that but i want to use modal pop up extender instead of javascript.......how should i use this,how do i create the pop up window first and then how do i call it from page load of each page, what should be the targetcontrolid,please help me out.
We have the timeout value set to 120 in our <form> tag within the web.config. We do not have a session timeout set.. and we have various connection strings.
We are having a problem where a session variable will disappear (become NULL) .. but, the form evidently remains 'open'.. or no re-login is required..... so, my question(s):
1. what is the relationship between form timeout and session timeout
The Silverlight app has a link to a different group of reports. This *was* working fine but no more. In the following code you can see the 'Reports' part that it calls another page [URL] namely right here: WHat is happening is when the reports page is called, it goes into 'Session timeout ' right away.
By default in login template, in case user key in the wrong user name or password, the literal message will show the default error message, "Your login attempt unsuccessful..."What i trying to do is, I have a function in my system to disapprove a member, after the member is disapproved, he/she will not allow to login anymore. When the user trying to login, the default literal msg will show out. Is there any way i can do it more specifically like if the user enter the wrong password only, the literal msg show: "Wrong password entered" insteaed of the default msg?
Same goes to the change password control, for any error msg it just show the long msg but does not tell user whats wrong with the entered valueim trying to do something like if the user enter the wrong password, the literal msg show the one i wan to show.
In my application I have a formview which is inside of a Ajax modal popup.Once users enter the information in the formview and click save, I validation the input.errors, I want to display an error message as a popup or as a modal popup (not javascript alert) with in the ajax modal.How do I do that. I tried several ways but it closes the ajax modal popup.
I'm working on a piece of code at the moment that allows the user to enter values into fields. Once the user clicks on the 'save' button I am checking those fields against certain conditions (essentially calling a bunch of stored procedures to assess the values). If any of these 'rules' are met, I need to generate a popup that informs the user that certain values need to be fixed before they can continue for some of the conditions, and for others just to inform them of what conditions may need their attention.
The main thing I need help with is, how do I generate a popup box in my codebehind if the conditions are met?
I want to authenticate a user using model popup extender. So I wrote a program to do this. Everything OK when user enter the correct details. But user enters the wrong detail, it should shows in a lablel in a popup panel. It shows; but the problem is it close the popup . But I want to keep the popup if the user enters the wrong details. How can I do this?
I am coding with VB.Net 2005. I have an issue popping up a message box on the client's side. The message box works well when running the application on my local machine, but when the site is hosted on the server, there is an error showing a conventional message box()in vb.net 2005 on the client's machine.
How can I pop up a messagebox with 'Thanks for submitting a comment" after the form has been validated and submitted.
I know how to do this using ordinary javascript and the onclick event, the problem with that is the message pops up before the form is validated, I need it to activate after validation.
I have an .aspx page. In it I have a gridview control. When the user edits data in the gridview control, I want to make data checks on the server and based on that check, I want a pop up box show up asking "Yes/No" question (basically the question is whether to update the database with the current changes). How can I do this? I know they say we have to use Java script. . So far this is the code that works
I want some efficient way that how can i display a message to user that he is about to logout after 1 minute if user is idle and doing nothing on the page for 1 mintue.

I produce a popup window by adding a hyperlink to a table cell dynamically in my vb.net code behind. Here is the code:
Dim sHyperlink As String = "<a href=""LabPopup.aspx?RefNo=" & iLabRefNo & """ target=""_blank"">" & strValue & "</a>" objCellValue.Controls.Add(New LiteralControl(sHyperlink))
So on my web page, I will have a list of these hyperlinks and each have a different iLabRefNo. When I click on one of these links, the popup window does appear correctly.
I have a button on the popup window that closes the popup. But I get this message in an alert box when click on my button:
The webpage you are viewing is trying to close the window. Do you want to close the window?
If I click OK then the window close. But I just want to close the popup wondow without this message. What do I need to do?
Here is my code for the button to close the popup:
