The problem is :I need the userid of the newly created user to store additional details of the user in another database table. I see that i can get the username using Createuserwizard1.username; but how do I get the userID?

May 14, 2010I am trying to store data from an XML file to a table in my database, but I keep getting the same error.

Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Areas'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Areas'.
The statement has been terminated.
In my XML file I have both existing rows and new rows for the database table. I'm guessing I have to do something to sort out the the rows that are not already in the database, but so far I have been unsuccessful to figure this out.

May 28, 2010In my form there are about 6 parameters and two of them have multiple values, upto 6. I'm imposed by the restrictions that I can't change the table structure. The table have 8 fields one for ID as primary key, one for foreign key and other to store data. The two fields which have multiple values are color and size. A size may have different colors and vice versa.
The programmer which have developed the site earlier used a stored procedure to store the data in database. And he implemented the above scenario one by one for each color/size. Now I have to put all in one.
How can I do this. As I can't change the table structure at current moment as this will disturb the whole E-commerce site.

Jan 13, 2010 this is the ecenario, we're developing a web application in vb.net using vwd 05, and everthing has been great so far, we've recevied a lot ideas from the guys on this great forum. now we're facing a problem relating with usernames and userids.Our web application has 5 different roles, and theres a funtionality needed on a dropdownlist related to the user roles.
we're trying to store users full name and other data, i've seen the tutorials about storing addtional information and everthing is very clear there, the problem now is this code we have already to fill a dropdownlist.

So basically were looking at storing the user id of the user just created with the create new user wizard to our table where full name is gonna be stored.
table is like this:
userid
full name
and other data required here. etc
so basically, we're filling the dropdownlist with the usernames of the users in the tech rol with the coded i posted above, but we need to instead of showing the username(which is our case is just number) ,show the full name of that users belonging to the tech role, obviouly its just a query, but how to get the full names of users beloning to a specified role? thats the main question and problem we have right now.

The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)I have configured my own data store following this guide. Which essentially tells you to run aspnet_regsql.exe to set up a data store in order to keep authentication data for a SharePoint site (which is what I want to do).This is what I've written in the web.config at the end of the tag <system.web> for the Visual Studio 2008 project initiated to deal with the Web Site Administration:

MVC :: Using ProfileCommon In Controller
Mar 13, 2010I've added some custom properties via the <profile> node in the web.config. In a view, I can access the custom properties using <%= Html.Encode(Profile.CustomProperty) %> so I know the class is being automatically generated. However, in the Controller, the ProfileCommon just doesn't exist. Do I need to include a specific namespace for this to work or is it simply not supported?

Aug 4, 2010I'd like to add some properties to logged in user. The last time I did this was a website made in VS2005 and ProfileCommon worked just fine. It seems however that this class is not included in web applications in general and .NET 4.0 in particular. I there for assume there is now a better way of doing this. Could anyone tell me what it is? In short I'd like to add PersonID to user's login to make it easy to hide information not related to that particular user by setting controllers like
