Our app uses session to keep track of users. We stuff their user id into session on logon. If the browser cache is cleared any refresh to the page is done then the user will see the log out sign - as the app cant get theuser id from session as the aspnet_session cookie wont be present in the request.Firefox works correctly but when I clear the cache on i.e. the session is maintained. The session ID's are the same for multiple requests.how I can debug the app to see what cookies its getting. How do I look at the actual cookie that is passed to .net?
View 2 RepliesI want to pass a value like default.aspx?product = jhonson&jhonson & id = 1what is solution for it.
View 8 RepliesI have created a matser page with a two radio buttons, text box and a button. Whenever user sets some values to these control and clicks the button, i will navigating him from one content page to another based on the data he has entered. The problem is after the content page load, the values selected/given in the controls(radio button, text box) are getting cleared.
Is there some way to maintain the values ?
how do i add a new parameter to an existing query string?
[URL]
now i need to add a new parameter say, showsearch.
i have a form on page1.aspx with several controls (textbox, dropdownlist, etc).on Page1 PageLoad event i load data from database and performe databinding.From Page1 a user can, by clicking a specific button, move to Page2.aspx to insert some details and, after saving details, he returns to page1.
if save changes are made on control on page1 before save them to db, obviously, these are lost on return from page2 (because are reloaded on pageload from db).How can i save control status between pages round trip?
Example scenario:
User login has a list of associated 'accounts' it has access to... this list of accounts is stored in a database table, say tblAccountAccessControl, something like:
login, accountID
userA, account123
userA, account456
userA, account798
userB, accountABC
userB, accountDEF
etc..
This info is used throughout the web application and determines the 'domain' of information the particular login has access to. For example there are many other tables that have the 'accountID' field and whenever a page pulls data from the table it only pulls data that the currently logged in user should be allowed to see, based on that tblAccountAccessControl data.
The security question:
Do I need to query the database every time I need to get this list of allowed accountID's? I was about to use a plain old query string to pass a particular accountID to another page but quickly caught myself as I realized that would be a major security flaw (the receiving page was going to use that accountID to grab info from the database, and there would be nothing preventing a user from simply typing in a url manually to get data from an accountID they are not supposed to be allowed to view). So I then thought I'll just store the list of accountID's in a session state variable so they will be carried with the user throughout the session.
But then I remembered there are tools out there that allow you to easily intercept and modify asp.net viewstate information and I'm not sure if that would included session state variables, but I'm guessing they would. Is there a way to create a secure query string? If I used session state would that session state information be exposed and modifyable by utilities out there? Am I just stuck having to query the database every time I need this info to assure security? What about encrypting it and then storing in session state variable (just thought of that one)?
developing a photogallery using datalist and custom numeric pagination.
I have assigned the CurrentPage Index of the PagedDataSource object by requesting "pid" value from QueryString .
On the pageload i hit the database once and store the filenames in ViewState but..
But the ViewState becomes null when the page is posted back with new query string value.
I have a class that being used to connect with the DB. Now I want to count how many times each web request executes the queries, but I've no idea where to store the counted value. I mean, Session wont, ViewState wont work as site also have webservices. What else I can use?

All that I get returned in EFFinal and IFFinal is System.String?
I am building an invoice system for a client and I am having trouble with the web forms related to the INSERT new order query.Basically I want to build up the order query from the selections made and then store it all in db at the end.
I don't want to use temporary db storage because it's a wasted trip to the server, I don't want to use session state because it's not data about the user I'm storing.... Unless I'm wrong, from what I've read I think query string is my best method since the data is not sensitive, it will just be primary keys and the like.
On the first form, the user will select the customer id from a datagrid displaying all customers. The next form allows them to choose the product from a datagrid showing all products and so on.... How do I pass this information across several pages?
My hope is at the end I will be able to take all the values and insert them into the corresponding tables to make up the customer order.
I am having a ASP.net application it having three pages ,page 1,page 2,page 3,when the user navigating between this pages I want to maintain the view state in page level after postbacks(i.e.) .If a user visits page 3, passing some query loads some data .then he moves to page 1 doing some entries .after that he once again moves to page 3 now I want to display the data previously available at the time he moves to page 1, same
way I want to do to my three pages up to the user logging out.
I am getting this error while executing my Asp.Net application.i am not able to execute application using Visual Studio Interface and when i am trying to execute application from Local IIS. its executing well but when i am trying to click any button for searching etc it is giving this error. View 1 RepliesHere is my scenario.In default.aspx page user selects the country, state, city from drop down list, and store them in cache for further use. but when other user open the web site from other computer it shows the same country, state, and city selected by user 1. Is there any problem related to cache? I have stored data as following.
cache["ctryID"] = ctryID;
cache["stateID"]= stateID;
cache["cityID"]= cityID;
I want to show default country, state , city at page load of default.aspx
I m facing some problem. i m not passing Dynamic string through query string..

In my Application_BeginRequest I have code that gets query string value ?c=FR or ?c=US and store it in cookies.Based on query string value I have either US or FR,locale is selected from locale table.If ?c=FR then locale will be fr-FR and if it is US then locale will be en-US.My code is below.
void Application_BeginRequest(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
LocalizationInfo loc = GetLocalizationInfo();
if (Request.Cookies["Localization"] == null)
Response.Cookies.Add(new HttpCookie("Localization"));
Response.Cookies["Localization"]["Country"] = loc.Country;
CultureInfo objCI = new CultureInfo(loc.Locale);
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture = objCI;
Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentUICulture = objCI;
}
public static LocalizationInfo GetLocalizationInfo()
{
string countryCode = "";
string sLocale = "";
if (HttpContext.Current.Response.Cookies["Localization"]["Country"] != null)
countryCode = HttpContext.Current.Response.Cookies["Localization"]["Country"];
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["c"]))
countryCode = HttpContext.Current.Request.QueryString["c"];
if (countryCode == "")
countryCode = "US";
sLocale = HertzRent2Buy.DataProvider.ListData.GetLocale(countryCode);
LocalizationInfo ret = new LocalizationInfo();
ret.Country = countryCode;
ret.Locale = sLocale;
return ret;
}
public struct LocalizationInfo
{
public string Country;
public string Locale;
}
Now when I run the project and in query string I set [URL] then for the very first page(home page itself) it shows me French translation,but on subsequent page,that query string parameter ?c=FR is lost and hence it shows be English translation not French translation since it does not pickup French resx file.If I manually append ?c=FR in subsequent page then it shows the French translation.Is there is way how I can make that query stringparameter available in all pages.Structure is there to hold Country and locale variables. In all pages I am calling GetLocalizationInfo() method as follow
LocalizationInfo info = some.DataProvider.Globalization.GetLocalizationInfo();
And I create instance info to pass locale and country as parameter. GetProductDetails(id,info.Country,info.locale). why my query string parameters get lost on subsequent pages.

In ASP.Net, is anyone aware of a way to bypass Forms Authentication if a specific query string parameter is passed in?
Such as:
mydomain.com/myprotectedpage.aspx
...I would like to be protected by Forms Authentication (and so, redirected to login page)
mydomain.com/myprotectedpage.aspx?myBypassParameter=me
...I would like the page to render as normal
I am using query string to pass values from page 1(log in page) to page 2 and then page 3. I have an .ascx file also, so how can I import the user name from Page1(login.aspx) to menu.ascx file. So that when I click the menu Home the value of the variable remains at the website. I am not aware of session handling thats why I am using this method to pass the valus among the various pages in website.
View 4 RepliesI have a Web Application where I have one and only one master page and with 100's of diffrent content pages
So to speed up my Web app How can i CACHE the mater oage but not the content page??
Master page loads each time whenever content page is requested..
This thing is possible,I have seen it on many diffrent websites where the Website's Master Page Remains Intact and only the content page changes (best example would be Facebook)
How can i have the same effect in my Web Application?
