Umbraco Installation Step 2 - "Couldn't Save Web.config File"

I've managed (after much difficulty) to get to the second step of the installation of Umbraco CMS onto my local machine. I'm getting this error when I try to move onto the next step: "Could not save the web.config file. modify the connection string manually. Access to the path 'c:inetpubwwwrootUmbracoumbraco1web.config' is denied."
I've tried setting Read and Write permissions on the web.config file, the umbraco1 folder AND the Umbraco folder, but nothing, same error. Restarted IIS, rebooted, still no change. I've manually changed the web.config app key which it's trying to update, but there's no way to proceed on to the next step. There's obviously some random permission thing that I'm not doing properly, but I can't find it. On a slight tangent, when I try to open the Permissions wizard, nothing happens - I want to scream. I just installed VS2010 and opened the root machine.config and web.config files for review and I found some errors. In machine.config, the following line has errors in both entries for <Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior>. When I hover the cursor over them I get a tooltip text which displays: "The element 'endpointBehaviors' has invalid child element 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior'. List of possible elements expected: '...(list of options here)...'. The same problem happens for the second appereance in tag <serviceBehaviors>.

Does anybody know of an easy way to store Umbraco settings (Document Types, Media Types etc) on the file system in order to manage that data within source control?
Note: changes to settings made on the file system need to be easily integrated back into the CMS database.
Also, does anybody know of a way to package up settings from a development environment for rolling out to staging and live environments?

I am building an excel file using the OpenXml sdk 2.0. I am putting it in a memory stream and outputting it to the browser.The problem I am receiving is wiht IE 9 if I click Open it says "filename couldn't be downloaded". If I hit save/save as and save it to the filesystem, then open it, the file opens fine with no errors.
In Firefox regardless of if I use save or open the file when opened in excel says its corrupt.I already built the file by writing it to the filesystem first and that code works. Also since saving to desktop in IE lets me open the file, im assuming the problem has to be with the settings on the Response.BinaryWrite.
I have tried changing the buffer types, changing the content types to include "application/octet-stream", and tried using the extension/content type for office 2003 instead of 2007/2010...Here is my code

I am using file upload control. I Placed fileupload control inside update panel. I can upload the files up to 1 to 2 mb file only. I couldn't upload the file above 2MB. I dint mention specific size also..I am following simple code only. When I upload the above 2mb file ..Its not even going into button click event , Navigating some page and showing below message, Internet explorer cannot display the page, Most likely causes:

I changed some names of namespaces, assemblies in one of existing project (C# and ASP.NET). But when I try to debug it; I get this error. When these occur, the sites will YSOD untill we recycle the application pool. The sites may run for days/weeks before this occurs, or it might happen twice within the hour. I have not been able to pinpoint this to any specific request/function in our system. In this case it points to itextsharp, but it randomly points to any assembly referenced by our application, both internal and external. Our application is running on three servers, two of them are on Server 2008 Web x64 while the third is running Server 2008 R2 Web x64, all have .NET 3.5 installed, no .NET 4.0 installations. The problem only occurs on the first two that are running 2008 non R2. Running depends.exe on all three servers gives equal results for the nonR2 servers:
My DLL is shown as x86 (compiled as AnyCPU, running in x64 w3wp), all other modules show as x64. Missing IESHIMS.DLL and LINKINFO.DLL - both of these seem to be red herrings according to Google. The third server shows the same, except it does not miss LINKINFO.DLL All servers are running IIS7 (7.5 for the R2 one) under a custom domain account that has been granted the necessary permissions:

Load user profile is set to false on all three servers. I've tried setting this to true on one of the faulting servers, according to: [URL] By running processmonitor I can see that it's now using the C:UsersTEMPAppDataLocalTemp directory for various temp files - the other ones are not using any such directory. So far I'll let it run in this way to see if this changes anything. I'm in doubt however given that the third server is not exhibiting the problems, yet still has "Load user profile" set to the same value, false. I've also tried running Fuslogvw on all three servers, logging binding failures to disk. All three servers report the same binding errors for VJSharpCodeProvider and CppCodeProvider, but these seem to be normal as well and can be solved by not defining the DEBUG and TRACE constants during build. We're running about 500 websites on each server (identical, load balanced), of which 50 are under moderate load, the problem has arisen both under heavy load as well as under minimal load however.
Right now I'm waiting for the errors to happen again so I can hopefully see a pattern and determine whether "Load user profile" alleviates the issue. I don't understand how the lack of "Load user profile" would cause an issue like this? And even further, how it would seemingly work on R2 but not on plain 2008?

I've been tearing my hair out over this one, and hopefully it'll be something simple that I'm too thick to work out for myself. We've got a ASP.NET website (IIS7.5, Server 2008R2) that uses the wonderful DevExpress ASP modules. All was working fine until I had the bright idea of upgrading the modules from 10.1.4 to 10.1.7. Ever since, the site throws intermittent but regular errors that it:

All the .aspx files have similar register tags, e.g.:

I updated the VS2010 project using DevExpress's own upgrader utility. There is no reference to v10.1.4 anywhere in the code - I've checked the .aspx files, web.config etc - and the web server has all the latest .DLL's on too. I've even moved the site to a complete new, virgin server, yet the error still occurs. Specifying the subversion number and public key in the register tag doesn't make any different. I've iisreset'd, cleared out temporary files, rebooted etc, all to no avail. The really frustrating thing is the error isn't reproducible - sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Where xxxxxxxx is the ASP.Net generated temp name. We are getting this error for a WCF service hosted within an ASP.Net application. The weird thing is that it happens very occasionally, independent of deployment changes... and when it does happen the service "breaks" for all subsequent requests. At the moment, the workaround for us at the moment is to delete the temporary assemblies from the application's folder in: %windir%Microsoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727Temporary ASP.NET Files The app is hosted in IIS7 on a win 2008 server, using .Net 3.5

Things of note:
A simple IIS Reset fixes the issue. We had the same code running on a single webserver with no problems. We then moved the site to two new, load balanced (using sticky sessions) webservers (all three Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition SP1). Now each of the load balanced webservers throw this exception about once a week just out of the blue.The only major difference I can think of, is I've installed the 4.0 .NET framework on the load balanced servers. The website is still running under ASP.NET 2.0 so I don't see how this would be an issue I've configured the indexing service to not search the "Temporary ASP.NET Files" folder, but it didn't help. We use the Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data dll everywhere on our site. Almost every single page uses our logic dll which in turn utilizes the EnterpriseLibrary dlls. While the errors where happening once, I even looked to see what processes were locking the dll in the "Temporary ASP.NET Files" folder, and it wasn't any different than the locks on the server that was working fine. Once the error starts, it errors every single time until an iisreset is performed.

I've tried deploying my asp.net app to a new server and I get this error:

Sure enough, System.Web.Entity isn't found in C:WindowsAssembly. However, the server has MS .NET Framework 3.5 installed and also MS ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0. Is this something I need to deploy with my app, or something I need to be installed on the server? It's not my own server so xcopy deployment within my app folder would be much better if that's possible.

I'm preparing to deploy a ASP.NET web application. The target server has already a previous version of my web application with parameters specified on the web.config file.
In the new version of this web application, the web.config file contains new sections I would like they appear into the target web.config file on the server.
However I can't find the way to merge the new web.config sections into the existing web.config file ?
Does I have to do it programmatically, or is there a tool to merge the both files during installation ? (I'm using Web Setup Project).
