i develope asp.net web site based on users authentication.
How can i promiss that user who logins to the site and closes and explorer, could reopen it and be connected without insert his user & password again.
After clearing cookies in browser , user is able to navigate to any page? Here i am not clicking on logout I expect once browser cookies are cleared, user should be redirected to login page .
View 1 RepliesI am making a small silly game but I am not sure of the best way to do it or where to start.Basically I will send a link to the people who are going to playing and on that page they will enter their name. I am then going to get an email with their name in so I can see they have accepted my challenge The game will then redirect to the next page. Thats not a problem.The problem is the game is going to played over a month and each time they visit the game on any page the website needs to know which player is the one who is playing.The other thing Is there is going to be a clue button for each question if they click the clue button for that question They will loose points. Now I want a way of of telling if a user was to display the clue close the website then come back and answer it.Is cookies the best way? Or maybe a cookie for the persons name and a server side file for each player so I have a record of who showed clues for what questions?

View 1 RepliesI have an ASP.NET application where users login using forms authentication. I have 3 roles and some users. My App is not some thing like anyone can Register and access pages. Only Admin can create users & then send them their username and temp password through email. Then User can change his security question, Password and access pages. I'm trying to build this architecture. I'm using SqlServerMembershipProvider I have created Roles and some test users using ASP.NET Configuration tool. How can I implement the same thing programatically? Like Admin can create user and set his Role. User should be able to Change his Security question & change his password after Admin sets his account with some password likeP@ssw0rd. Is there any article where I can read and learn. while i was using sql server authentication, it was running a quite good but suddenly it starts showing an error 'Login Failed for user sa'

How do I automatically send user to login page when his/her FormsAuthenticationTicket expires? I just don't want a user log in and leave a page on their computer screen long after their session has expired. I'd like to make sure that as soon as the user's

I've made a membership by create user wizard. everything is good but after click on finish register button, when page redirect to index .aspx, this page thinks tht user logged in. whereas user didnt login just added to DB.here is the code:

The whole thing works very well but my issue is, after entering and encrypted password how does the user then log into the database?
When a user types in his password, the typed in password will not match the ecnrypted value in the database.
So how do I decrypt what is in the database and compare with what the user typed in and then validate the user.
I am working on an application that uses windows authentication. Within this application, we give the user the ability to change their password. The user can change the password just fine. However, after they change their password, that is when things get weird. Sometimes they can navigate through the application just fine. Other times, they click on a link and are immediately prompted to supply credentials. Occasionly they can click on a link but upon a second click they are prompted to supply credentials. Does the browser keep a token to the original credentials and use this when they request the next page? If this is the case, why can i continue using the site sometimes? Can I change the password and then assign that token to the request?

I have another table called LOGIN with fields(id,DOB,password) example values(1001,24101989,madhukumar)
What i want is , if i login using the LOGIN table ,it check the id and permission in the ROLE table , if the permission is 'hr' it enable to access the menu , or if the permission is any other it just print the error message ("no permission")
Note: menu is placed in master page , but login is not in the master page ...
