VS 2008 - Add ModalPopup To Gridview Custom Control?

Jan 13, 2011

I have a Gridview Custom Control (class library project). What I want to do is, add a button to the page. Once the button is clicked, I need a ModalPopupEctender to come up with a checkboxlist of all the Columns in the SQLDataSource that populates the Gridview.

Now since this is a class library project that inherits from the Gridview, I'm not sure how I can add a div at the very top of the page, with the "Choose Columns" button.

Should I create a user control that contains my Custom Gridview? Reason I want to do what I ask is because I want to reuse this in as many projects as I can, I wan this functionality built in to my dll.

Custom Server Controls :: Paging And Sorting Gridview Custom Control Inside Of A Wizard Control?

Dec 24, 2010

here's a situation and I would appreciate your response.

I have programmatically created the Wizard control:

Page_Load(obj s, evargs e)
{
Wizard ClaimDetailWizard = new Wizard();
foreach(int item in selectedItems)
{
//create new step
//added custom control to new step
//add step to wizard
}
//added wizard to a placeholder on a page
}

Based on List I get from Session i added new steps to my wizard To each step I had added a custom control

Each custom control in tern contains another custom Gridview Control in it.

So here's the problem when the page loads for example for two steps. All is good Wizard does what it's supposed to do.

But when I try to use sorting or paging in that custom Gridview. Somehow it displays the gridview I should see in the next step of the wizard.

Also what I'm noticing through debugging. Is that when I press next in the wizard I go back to the original page where I do all of the code specified above, and it recreates the wizzard. But it goes to the next step. Is this the way wizard supposed to work? Just doesn't seem very efficient.

AJAX :: ModalPopup Triggered From Item Template Control On A Gridview?

Mar 29, 2010

I have a page that has a few requirements1. A Gridview that is dynamically populated (and refreshed at a regular interval) with a button control that is conditionally displayed 2. The button control should show a ModalPopup of a Panel that serves as a form 3. This Panel form contains a textbox populated with a value from the gridview and another dropdown control I can get 2 of these 3 requirements via a couple of different approaches (like 1+2 work, but 3 fails or 2 +3 work but 1 fails).The code pasted below is the closest I have gotten, and is actually my preferred method, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the ModalPopupTextBox1 is not rendered when ModalPopup button is clicked.If I place the Gridview1 outside of UpdatePanel1 (refresh controlled by Timer1), the ModalPopup Panel works as expectedMarkup: GridUpdate.aspx

VS 2008 / Didn't Put The Custom Control On The Page

Jan 25, 2011

I haven't worked on web applications in eight months or so (last contract work was WinForms), and I am trying to remember what I knew about custom controls. My issue is that I am replacing a developer who is gone and there isn't much doc or knowledge on-site anymore regarding at what point his code was left off. So I am figuring it out. We work with 3rd-party software API's. In an extension (a DLL), I am able to test what 3rd-party page is being navigated to and navigate to my own page instead. Let's call this page UserApproval.aspx when its the 3rd-party page, and UserApproval_mmock.aspx when it's mine (really his - the former developer's). The former developer has a line of code in the _mmock page, like so:<%@ Register TagPrefix="mockCustomCtl" TagName="TestControl" Src="~/Folder-1/Controls/MyCustomControl.ascx" %>Nowhere else in the code do I see a reference to mockCustomCtl. Shouldn't I, if the page is indeed rendering this control? Could that be where he left off - he created his own replacement page, created the custom control (I do have the source to MyCustomControl.ascx), but didn't actually put the custom control *on* the page?

VS 2008 - Custom Gridview Insert Row

Jul 11, 2011

I've created a custom gridview control with a custom datacontrolfield as well, which enabled me to have textboxes in the headercells of the gridview so I can filter each column value.

Now I've added textboxes to the footer row as well so I can allow users to insert data directly from the grid.

this is a portion of my gridview aspx code:

Code:
<FooterTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="lbInsertCN" runat="server" CommandName="Insert" ValidationGroup="addCN" >Insert</asp:LinkButton>
<asp:LinkButton ID="lbCancelInsertCN" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" CommandName="Cancel" Text="Cancel" ></asp:LinkButton>

[Code] ....

As you can see, I added an Insert and Cancel button in the footer row. Then I have my custom column. Now in the rowdatabound event of the grid, i'm trying to hook up the linkbutton click event to a handler:

Code:
Protected Sub nsGrvContainer_RowDataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.GridViewRowEventArgs) Handles nsGrvContainer.RowDataBound
Select Case e.Row.RowType
Case DataControlRowType.Footer
Dim lbInsert As LinkButton = CType(e.Row.FindControl("lbInsertCN"), LinkButton)
AddHandler lbInsert.Click, AddressOf odsContainerNumber_Inserting
End Select

I find the control fine, but the click event never fires.

VS 2008 / Show The Data Either In Chart Control Or Gridview Control?

Feb 11, 2013

I have a simple .aspx page.

I want to show the data either in Chart control or Gridview control. When the user selects an option to see the data either in chart control or grid view control, that specific control has to show up and other control has to become invisible.

So far, I am able to populate data successfully in the chart control. If the user chooses "Grid view" option, how can I show the data in grid view control in the same location. I don't want the gridview control to be shown in a pop up window or any other window.

C# - Add Reference To Method In Custom Control To A Child Control Created In That Same Custom Control

Feb 3, 2010

I have a custom control that is based off the gridview control located at: here The control is basically a gridview that automatically creates a column of checkboxes that can be used to "check" individual rows in the gridview. During the gridview's "CreateColumns" event, the "checkboxcolumn" is created dynamically. The checkboxcolumn also contains another checkbox in the header that is used to "select/deselect all" checkboxes in the column. Since the gridview does not automatically remember the state of the checkboxes in the checkboxcolumn on postback, I added a method to the control called "SaveCheckBoxState" which stores the indexes of the checked rows in Viewstate, and then I modified the "OnRowDataBound" event to check the Viewstate and reset the checkboxes based on the Viewstate.

I then added a call to "SaveCheckBoxState" in the gridview's OnSorting and OnPageIndexChanging events. This works great so long as I'm sorting or changing pages. However, I need it to update the viewstate everytime someone clicks or unclicks one of the checkboxes. At this time, the checkboxes are rendered with an onclick event that calls some javascript to highlight the row, or in the case of the checkbox in the header, to select/deselect all checkboxes. I need to call the "SaveCheckBoxState" method from the javascript used by the customcontrol, or I need to find a way to modify viewstate from javascript and perform the same action as "SaveCheckBoxState".

I've tried adding the "SaveCheckBoxState" to the onclick event declaration in the checkboxes, but when run, it simply tells me that the method is undefined. It doesn't exist in the parent page, and I don't think I should have to make an event for the parent page to pass the click to. It seems to me this should be all self contained within the custom control. Does anyone know how I can acheive this? Here is the code for the gridview OnPreRender event where the onclick event of the checkbox is set:

protected override void OnPreRender(EventArgs e)
{
// Do as usual
base.OnPreRender(e);
// Adjust each data row
foreach (GridViewRow r in Rows)
{
// Get the appropriate style object for the row
TableItemStyle style = GetRowStyleFromState(r.RowState);
// Retrieve the reference to the checkbox
CheckBox cb = (CheckBox)r.FindControl(InputCheckBoxField.CheckBoxID);
// Build the ID of the checkbox in the header
string headerCheckBoxID = String.Format(CheckBoxColumHeaderID, ClientID);
// Add script code to enable selection
cb.Attributes["onclick"] = String.Format("ApplyStyle(this, '{0}', '{1}', '{2}')",
SelectedRowStyle.CssClass,
style.CssClass,
headerCheckBoxID);
// Update the style of the checkbox if checked
if (cb.Checked)
{
r.BackColor = SelectedRowStyle.BackColor;
r.ForeColor = SelectedRowStyle.ForeColor;
r.Font.Bold = SelectedRowStyle.Font.Bold;
}
else
{
r.BackColor = style.BackColor;
r.ForeColor = style.ForeColor;
r.Font.Bold = style.Font.Bold;
}
}
}

Custom Server Controls :: Custom Control's Constructor / User To Set That variable In The Properties Window After They Drag The Control Onto A Form?

Mar 4, 2010

I have a custom control which inherit from the Table class and in the constructor, it takes a an integer as an argument. There is no empty constructor.

Is there a way for the user to set that variable in the properties window after they drag the control onto a form.

I know some .NET controls, you can set the source for the parameter to different things like another control's property, QueryString using just the properties window.

Right now, I have to create the control dynamically. I read the query string and then created the object.

Custom Server Controls :: Add This Control To The Page,an Alert To Check The Text Value Of The Custom Control?

Dec 20, 2010

created a Custom Textbox Control that is intended to be a "masked date" textbox, so that I can handle different ways a user might enter in a date and make it work no matter what.I did this by creating a custom control with 3 separate Textboxes one for month,one for day one for year,then do some handling for different things that could be entered and it would all work.

The problem I am having is,when I add this control to the page,if I do an alert to check the Text value of the custom control it just gives me "[ServerControl1]" even if I enter in a date.

I tried doing an AutoPostback after entering so that it would refesh the Viewstate to have the values of the textboxes but the control doesnt seem to actually postback, even though I have it enabled.accessing the Textbox value after someoen
has entered a date?first custom control I have created and have been using google.

VS 2008 - Page And A Custom Control On That Page

Sep 7, 2011

I have an asp.net pagel called UserApproval.aspx. On that page is a custom control ascx. So the order of events is that UserApproval's Page_Load is called, then the ascx's Page_Load is called. The ascx page might discover a problem and can't render what it needs to render (if the user isn't authorized). It has no problem hiding some of the web controls on it, but I would also like to hide some of the web controls on the parent/UserApproval page. Am I able to do this?

For example, the parent page displays instructions about clicking a button. But the buttons are built by the custom control if the user is authorized to see the buttons. If he can't, can I change or hide the parent's instructions?

If i use date.tryparseExact I need to know the foemat of the date value being passed in. Problem is, I won't always know the exact format.

VS 2008 - How To Calculate Between Two Columns In Gridview Control

Jan 6, 2012

I have a simple gridview control on .aspx page. It has one combo box in the gridview control and rest of the columns in the gridview control are all bound controls.

When the user picks something from combo box, I should multiply the number (picked from the combo box) with other number in the same row (meaning in a different column on the same row). I want to do all this in server controls not thru JQuery or Javascript.

Basically my problem is I am able to read data from unbound combo box control in the grid. But I should be able to read the contents of another bound column in the same row and perform multiplication between those two fields.

Code:
<asp:GridView ID="GridViewActuals" runat="server"
DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" DataKeyNames="gl_number"
onrowcommand="GridViewActuals_RowCommand" Height="285px"
onrowdatabound="GridViewActuals_RowDataBound"
