VS 2008 Controls Added Not Showing In Events List Of Vb Page?
Mar 19, 2010
I do not know how this has started but when creating new pages in a web project using vb.net coding, when I add any control such as a button or something else and then do to the vb code page for it, I click the dropdown on the left and it does not show the controls. What would cause this? I am using a master page with the page and the controls are going into the content sections. If I add a line like:
Code:
[code]....
then I have events. But in another peoject I do not have to do this. Is there a reason why? Maybe a setting that was changed? I'm using VS2008 in vb.net language.
I am programatically adding a control to an aspx page and binding a server side event to an index changed event inside the control. (It's a RadListBox from Telerik's ASP.NET controls) The problem is that on the postback triggered from the control, the event doesn't hit its eventhandler because on the postback the control isn't defined. Is there a way to handle this without having to retrace the logic taken before and rebuild the controls so the events that stem from it are processed?
I have created login page dynamically by using texteditor. Which includes 2 texboxes and 1 Submit button.
Im saving this html in database and loading this html in the login page. Means adding this html to DIV tag innerHtml. My question is how to findout these controls in the code behind page and how fire submit button click event. Or any other alternative to do this?
I am working on a web form using VS 2010. The controls I've added previously to this form will show in the drop down list in code behind and are available to add events too. However any new controls I've added for last week or so are not visible in the list. I cannot access their events. I have scoured the forums and tried everything I can think of, nothing works.
I am trying figure out how I handle events in a dynamically added user control. Basically I can add user controls dynamically to my form (I am then storing them in an ArrayList in a Session variable that I use to reload them on my Page_Load). Each control has a button on it. However, whenever I click the button, the event never fires (code is never reached). I assume it has something to do with the control being dynamic, and when I click a button, it goes out of scope, and when I reload it something is lose in the event handling.
Here's my code for adding a user control:
Code: Protected Sub Page_Load(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load Dim alContact As New ArrayList If Not IsPostBack Then ' Dummy controls for testing Dim oContact As New ASP.ContactControl
I have user controls with buttons that have hooked events. Controls with events need to be initialized in Page_Load or earlier.
I wish to spawn these user controls dynamically by clicking an Add button.
It is important to remember that events, such as click events, are not fired until just before Page_LoadComplete.
Broken Solution A:
[code]...
Result: Everything works great, except the button within the added user control is inert.
The conundrum is: I need controls to spawned by a button click, which means I need to put my Controls.Add(...) code in Page_LoadComplete. Inversely, I need the controls being added to have working events, which means the Controls.Add(...) code need to be in Page_Load. I have a perfect dichotomy.
IMPORTANT Can any body solve this one ?How to create page's Init, Load, PreRender etc. event handlers in VS 2008? When we double click on the page, it will create Page_Load event. How to create othere events of page? I am using c# in ASP.NET application. There is no Event tab in image.
I've googled a bit for the exact order of all gridview events relative to and where inbetween page events. The only Microsoft article: [URL] is not very clear. I'm especially interested in the gridview row_command event relative to page events.
I am working on a Webbased project, where we have a Master page with some child page. In the child page there is GridView control, Footer of this Gridview control have some TextBox control to get the input value from user and insert into database. Once the data is inserted into database. We are reloading the inserted data into the same Gridview control, But Gridview control is hot Binding/showing up the recently added record.
I debugged the code and seen the Dataset which is getting the data fron database have the updated row but after binding to Gridview control. The Gridview control not refreshing the data. This is happening while we have Master page and child page.
is there any tutorial about how to run a unit testing on a web page (events...etc) in visual studio 2008? is it even possible? i can find anything to start with
I know to code to a specific event, you'll have to select the control and select the event in the event button with an image of a lightning bolt near the properties window, but I cant seem to find the event list for the web page..like the pre render, load..etc.
I have the following list of projects WebUI (WebSite) , DataAccess (ClassLibrary) , LogicLayer(ClassLibrary). Those of the project are purposively crated separately. But my scenario is, need to create only one solution file, then add all of the above projects under this solution file. So that i can be easiy interacted and changes can be made by opening solution file only instead of opening each project individually.
Simply all of the layer projects are under one roof means one solution. I tried it by adding solution first, then i added already existed project into this. But once after added already existing project the solution icon vanished by showing the icon of recently added project. By this way I could not add another project into this section too.Hope this is the way the basic real-time projects are created; to achieve the centralized control over architecture based projects.
I have made a mvc 2 asp.net application on a development server 2008 R2. The site works fine with IIS 7 and windows 2008 R2 on the development server... When I deploy the app to a remote accept. server, routing seems to be broken and only the master page with no contentplaceholders are rendered. I only see a empty Master page. It looks like the accountcontroller is not fired and no View is returned.
There are 25 items in the list. I have selected one item at the time of project creation. But If I edit the project then the list box is showing more selected items instead of one item in the details page.
I defined the property as follow and in the Properties window, it just shows an empty textbox. While the CssClass property shows a list of CSS classes.
[CssClassProperty] public string HeaderStyleCssClass { get { return headerStyle; { set { this.headerStyle = value; } }
I just moved to a new PC and installed VS 2010. I copied all of my websites over from the old machine and now when I open the old websites on the new machine, they do not show up in my recent projects list on the start page. New websites that I make do show up there but the old ones do not. This is very inconvenient. Is there a way to make old projects that I open show up in the list?
This brings up another question. Is there a way to make a shortcut that will open VS2010 up with a website already loaded so that I don't have to go through the file open dialog every time?
Here is my scenario. There is a users table and each user has multiple addresses(one to many) and I want to dispalay them like the image provided below
using listview only.I am really stuck with the deign of the page. There is a show and hide feature also.I can use only list view that is my requirement.
I'm adding a row to my gridview like this in the RowDataBound event
Code: If (Not isDisbursementRowAdded) Then Dim row As GridViewRow Dim cell As TableCell row = New GridViewRow(e.Row.RowIndex + 1, e.Row.RowIndex + 1, DataControlRowType.DataRow, DataControlRowState.Normal)
[code]...
I've looked at the tables tr and td elements and they all have opening and closing tags.
I added code to show an image in my button. But it is no longer rounded or at least XP style when I add the image like normal buttons I add. Here is the code I use.
I have a problem i am trying to work out the best method with my limited skills. Im using vb.net(VS 2010) I am using a dll for an IFrame , which is call from code behind. On my site I havea masterpage which has two gridviews. ( GrdViewWebBureau is the one i am using for this query) GrdViewWebBureau is contained within an update panel and updated on a timer control trigger. GrdViewWebBureau updates the page with file counts and status from our clients. I can click on any one of the cells and the code behind is fired. What I am trying to do is put an IFrame on the master page and every time a user clicks on the grid, the Iframe is fired up.
I have tested the iframe and vb code behind from a dummy page and it works, however when the Iframe is on the master page it doeant work. What I am tryingh to achieve is that no matter what page a user is on the site, they will be able to click on the GrdViewWebBureau and the iframe will fire with the correct childpage. Each webPage may also have an Iframe as well, so i dont know if it is possible to make the IFrame global and just call that control ?? I have no idea if 1 this is possible with the code i have and 2, if i have the brains to understand the who what why and when.
I am using a dropdown inside gridview with sqldatasource but when iam executing this the output in simple colmun that is not showing dropdown list plz check my aspx code.
I created and populated a database inside Visual Studio 2008 instead of using Management Studio.I need to run the script to create the schema for users and roles. The database does not show up in ASP.NET SQL Server Setup Wizard or in Management StudioThe only databases that do show up are master, model, msdb, and tempdb
Is there anything I can do to fix this or would it be easier for me to just create a new database starting in Management Studio and then connect to it from within Visual Studio?
i want to insert checkbox text only if they are checked. .. how to do that ..
Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load TextBox1.Text = Request.QueryString("txt") Dim splitted As String() = TextBox1.Text.Split(",") For Each id As String In splitted Dim ctrl As Control = Page.FindControl("checkbox" & id) If Not ctrl Is Nothing Then Dim chkbox As CheckBox = DirectCast(ctrl, CheckBox) chkbox.Enabled = False Dim arrList As New ArrayList() 'populate the list with some temp values arrList.Add(CheckBox1.Text) arrList.Add(CheckBox2.Text) 'databind the list to our repeater Repeater1.DataSource = arrList Repeater1.DataBind() End If Next End Sub
This code will add all checkboxes whether it is checked or not !
so that only checked checkboxes would be added in array list
I have a asp.net list box control in which i populate items using Jquery by using some code like .. $("#MylistBox").append("<option value='somevalue'>Someitem</option>
dynamically . but in code behind when i use MylistBox.Items is always showing Count 0 no matter how much items add.
