I have a textbox added in an item template so I can enter data. But when I press enter in a textbox it caused the page to postback and I lose the data entered. I can tab through fine but why does Enter cause a postback? Can I disable this?

Now my question is, if the user selected an item in dropdownList in the firstrow and the user click the AddGridRowBtn Again which will generate the 2nd row, how would i maintain the selectedItem in the dropdownlist after postback?

I have a grid view with item template ....In the footer template of the gridview i have a button ... On clicking the button a new item template row is created .Wat i need is , by pressing the enter key i need to add new row .... It is already adding new row on button click .... The same should be done on pressing the enter key on the last row of the gridview item template .....

Now this AddGridAddBTN Temporarily adds a data row to a grid but won't submit that data to database, however AddGridSubmitBTN Submits the data to DB through foreach loop .
Now my query is i want to provide user a functionality that when he gets focus on Abbreviation Text Box OR Description Box and he after typing some data Press ENTER KEY , This ENTER KEY would provide funcionality as a AddGridAddBTN Button , and when he presses SHIFT + ENTER , It works like AddGridSubmitBTN Button , also i want to make Abbreviation and Description Field to be filled must !
Moral is that :
ENTER KEY WOULD DO : Generate a temporary row with holding previous values as it is actually doing on AddGridAddBTN Button.
SHIFT + ENTER WOULD DO : Enter the whole grid data thorugh foreach loop as it is actually doing on AddGridSubmitBTN Button.
I don't want to refresh my page on enter or shift enter pressing . This grid is binded through SQL DATA SOURCE ...

View 4 RepliesI am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. I googled for the same, it says u might not have selected crystal reports feature while installation of vs. I am sure that i had selected installtion type = Full/Complete.
So has it anything to do with vs service pack etc. I dont have VS 2008 SP1, but VS 2008. Or wud be better if we can add crystal report component explicitly. (kinda standalone installer for crystal reports and then it will automatically merge with VS.)
I have a master page and many content pages. In my master page i have LOGOUT button. In the content pages i have many buttons. Now the prob is, LOGOUT button is set to default automatically.. this is very annoying that whenever i wanted to submit the form, i am pressing ENTER key and it is taking me to the login page. I am able to specify one button using the code below by adding the onkeydown event to the body of the page and checking for Enter's keyCode

I assume this code can be modified or call a function to perform a conditional to see if txtSearch or txtSubmit has focus and specify btnSearch or btnSubmit accordingly, but I am not experienced with javascript.
The Problem:The user entered value is missing in the .Text attribute of the AjaxControlToolkit ComboBox when the enter key pressed. Also the "on change" events events are not called but I am not using postbacks anyway so I do not care.

My first thought on how to do this was maybe to add the event to submit action of the form tag. However this usercontrol has no form tag.
i am working on grid view that have an item template contain a linkbutton that should delete its row so my broblem is how to get the index of the row which i have clicked its linkbutton i tried to search online msdn and asp but no answer helped me or may be its just me i was able to delete row by using enable deleting from the smart tag of the grid view but i was using sql data source which brings data from sql table but later i had to replace the sql table with sql view after i did that i couldn't enable the checkbox of enable insert,update and delete statment in advanced sql generatiom options in configure sql data source wizard and this is the other proplem and i not asking this for delete the record only ,it could help in send emial button which is placed the in item tamplate too and i am using C# by the way.
View 2 RepliesI have a dropdownlist as a template item in a gridview - it populates fine and with the right values. I have an SelectedIndexChanged on the dropdownlist, and has set it for postback. In the SelectedIndexChanged event, I would like to know where the control that fired this event is, - which row in the gridview is it in? How do I get this info? If the row was selected it would be easy, but the only thing that has happened in that row is that the dropdown has changed value and consequently the SelectedIndexChanged event has been fired - is that enough to know which row the event has been fired from?
View 1 RepliesI've got this gridview. The gridview uses TemplateFields as the number of fields in the database's table. What I do next is use an ItemTemplate to present the correct column info.
Now, problems rise when the user click's Edit. Since I can only use EditItemTemplate to edit I am resulted with a control in each column. What I really want is to have a single row with no columns so I can easily style the edit mode (having a table with a different layout for example).
Is this possible?

I have one gridivew, which is showing 20 records. And also, in item template of Gridview, I used one dropdownlist. It means there are 20 dropdownlist with all the 20 rows. That dropdownlist is already binded, means showing the records/items - 8 items. No issue with this.
Now, what I want is, when ever, I select any item from the drodownlist against each row in that gridview and click on the button "Save", it will save the id of all row with all the values of dropdownlist.

I'm trying to use a calendar control to populate a textbox in a gridview cell in edit mode.
The error is with this line

I added runat="server" to the <a> and now I am not getting an error, but when a date is selected in the calendar control is it not being inserted int the txtGvEditTeDate textbox.
I have read a lot of post and seen some solutions to this; however, nothing seems to work for me. I have a gridview inside an update panel and when the user clicks on the edit link the row goes into edit mode. when the user clicks into the text box specified for the date nothing happens. here is what my JS looks like and the gridview row i am working with. i have tried the CSS selector and the ID selector with no luck......I also have a date picker working great on my page, but it is not inside a gridview or an update panel....

I have a page that has a few requirements1. A Gridview that is dynamically populated (and refreshed at a regular interval) with a button control that is conditionally displayed 2. The button control should show a ModalPopup of a Panel that serves as a form 3. This Panel form contains a textbox populated with a value from the gridview and another dropdown control I can get 2 of these 3 requirements via a couple of different approaches (like 1+2 work, but 3 fails or 2 +3 work but 1 fails).The code pasted below is the closest I have gotten, and is actually my preferred method, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why the ModalPopupTextBox1 is not rendered when ModalPopup button is clicked.If I place the Gridview1 outside of UpdatePanel1 (refresh controlled by Timer1), the ModalPopup Panel works as expectedMarkup: GridUpdate.aspx
