View 7 Repliesfiletoread = Server.MapPath("\servernamesharefile.csv")
filestream = File.OpenText(filetoread)
readcontents = filestream.ReadToEnd()
It works fine if I put the file in the local directory and use "filetoread = Server.MapPath("file.csv")", but won't do it over the UNC path.I'm guessing the problem is security related but can't find any info related to it, do I need to somehow specify a username/password somewhere ?
I tried this code by inputting the ftp address as ftp//: and the correct username and password and I get the following error
"Unable to connect to the remote server" on line :
FtpWebResponse Response = (FtpWebResponse)Request.GetResponse();I tired this on my ftp server provided by a hosting service and an anonymous ftp located at 193.166.120.5 ?
Note: I was able to connect to both of these ftp through filezilla, via a webbrowser, and through windows command line.
This is what I have right now for a file residing on the same server and it works.
Dim FILENAME as String = Server.MapPath("Output.txt")
Dim objStreamWriter as StreamWriter
objStreamWriter = File.CreateText(FILENAME)
dr = myCommand.ExecuteReader()
While dr.Read()
objStreamWriter.WriteLine("{0}|{1}|{2:yyyy-MM-dd}|{3:yyyy-MM-dd}", dr(0), dr(1), dr(2), dr(3))
End While
objStreamWriter.Close()
I was planning on FTPing the file to another server once done but is there a way to do it on a remote server? i.e create a text file on a remote server and write to it? Did not find any instances of that usage. How to use ServerXMLHTTP to replace Server.MapPath in this instance?
After upload a pdf file (order.pdf) to remote server in UNC format, I used code below to open order.pdf file.Code is working in IE9 but not Chrome.Is there another way to open pdf file in remote server?
Dim fullpath As String = [String].Format("file:///{0}", "webserverorderorder.pdf")
Response.Redirect(fullpath)
I usually use WebMatrix to manage my database (sdf file). I wonder if it can be possible to manage this database with SQL Management Studio 2008? When I try to open it with SQL Management Studio 2008 I get the error:
Incompatible database version. What's wrong?
BUT When I create a new sdf database with SQL Management Studio 2008, I have no problem for open it again with SQL Management Studio 2008 but if I try to open it with WebMatrix it doesn't work...(server not found?)
How to set the path to read the file which is in remote machine and display it in TEXTBOX in web browser.
View 2 RepliesI am using Sql Server 2008 to connect to a Remote Server. Everything was working fine for the last couple of months, and i was successfully connecting to the remote server. Today it suddenly stopped connecting to the remote server. note that i did not alter any configuration settings. Did my isp block Sql Server. My ISP is using ISA SERVER? The error details are:
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) I am using Microsoft Firewall Client For ISA Server for opening ports. But today nothing is working.
I'm using VS2010 and need to give my remote server asp .net account (IUSR_istereos) access to my local intpub folder
how do I do that?
We have a database on our server, here at the office. We now want to create a asp.net website that will be accessible to the public.
Say the domain of the website is [URL] and it's hosted on a webserver of HeartInternet.
When someone connects to that domain, that webpage must be able to pull data from our server that is located here in our office.
In other words the webpage cannot just load data out of the MySQL database loaded on its server, but it has to connect to our server and get data.
I have code that reads a value from a config file (not web.config) given a key. It looks like this:
Code:
Public Shared Function GetCustomConfig(ByVal ValuetoGet As String, ByVal ConfigFileValue As String) As String
Dim Returnvalue As String = String.Empty
LoadConfig(ConfigFileValue)
For Each KeyValue As String In AppSettings.Keys
If KeyValue = ValuetoGet Then
Returnvalue = AppSettings.Item(KeyValue).ToString
End If
Next
Return Returnvalue
End Function
So if my config file which is named my.config has this entry: <add key="TempArea" value="c:Temp"/>I would call GetCustomerConfig("TempArea", "my.config") and the function would return "c:Temp". Most of the time this is what happens. But sometimes I get an exception: Collection was modified after the enumerator was instantiated.
Is there a better way to get the value given the key? This is code written long ago by my predecessor, and I am not sure I want to use it anymore. If I do use it, I will have to do something so that it is more reliable.
I'm trying to force a large (200+ MB) file to download that's on a remote server. The problem is that I can't use the "WriteFile()" function, since I'm not using a virtual path. Then, when I try:
Response.AppendHeader("content-disposition",
I have deployed my site in Win 2003 server. In this, it copies file from Another server and copies it in local. It is working with my local computer, but not in the server i have deployed. I hope access credentials may be the first reason. But are there any other reasons for this.
I need to create a 'select/open file' template so it can easily be pulled into any page by any other Developer.
View 31 RepliesI am trying to streamline the look of my site and I was wondering if there was a way to use the onclick of an image to open up a <input type="file.../>? I want the input to be invisible so it doesn't add clutter to the interface. Here is ultimatly the flow I would ideally have... Image click -> Javascript calls input open. User clicks "open" in the dialog, Input calls some Javascript that calls the click event of the inviable "upload" button. Boom. User clicks image, selects a new one, and I have it automatically on my server without the need for two more buttons... Anyone know if these types of events/functions exists and if so what they are called and how to capture them? Or should I stop making this over complicated and use the method that I know works?
View 6 RepliesI tried simple code like this using href element. But it tries to open the sheet.xls in the browser window and says it can't find the file. I want the excel file to be opened in excel (not browser).

I am working on storing pdf file in sql server database and then reading a portion of it and displaying in html.
