i need a form in such a manner that if uesr select 1 it create 1 small form/panel on web page if select 2 it will create 2 small form/panel on web page etc etc

I have a form which inserts data in DB on Submit button click but the problem is when client click the button multiple times its sends multiple create requests means multiple button click events for the same time of same data, which must not be.
I tried to disable the button when client click the Submit button first time but after this it does not call server click event handler or not fire the server click event once it got disabled.
How to handle this multiple click problem..

If I declare a public variable in my module then publish it out on the server...then have multiple users using the app will the variable get overwritten each time a user calls it?

I am reagin the connection string paths from a table in a database.

Should I use the connectionString builder in conjunction with a loop to Connect, read a record into a dataset Until therer are no more records to be read from my databse table with the database name/paths tables ?

View 6 RepliesI'm currently in the process of creating a webshop. This webshop supports theming, but I also want customers to choose a lay-out. I can create multiple masterpages and create a handler to dynamically set the correct master page. But some components, like the shopping cart, are controls which have to be present in the master page and are also used in the aspx pages. The shopping cart control for instance, has an Update method which is called whenever the user adds a product to their cart. So the question is: can I somehow create a default masterpage which has all the components on it, but still be able to create multiple lay-outs. And how should I reference that master page from the aspx pages? I also thought of creating an Interface class which defines the masterpage and it's public components, but I don't know if I can reference an interface from aspx pages.
View 8 RepliesI want the user to be able to select, as in Windows forms a datetime picker, the date and time. Unless I am missing something this does not seem to exist in web forms.So my plan was. Create a text box and when the user enters that textbox it opens a calender. Then record the date the user has selected and update the relevant table.However, I get stuck again, as I cant seem to format the calender to show datetime. What is the best way of doing this?

The label part is for display the information from the database. I'm using a button as a trigger to edit that label by changing it to a textbox and I'll be using another button as a trigger to save the changes made in the textbox and then changing it back to a label.

I am reading a dataset/datatable where I have a a varchar field (25) that represents date and time in following format (this is orginally a db timestamp format): 2010-05-03 08:48:00.000 Prior to binding the datatable to a gridview I need to show date time as: 5/3/2010 8:48:00. I am going to use the provider based on a drop down list with the name of the provider.

In Login.ascx.cs:
I am selecting the provider based on a drop down list like so:
MembershipProvider provider = Membership.Providers[dropDownList.SelectedItem.Text];
Problem is whenever I hit this line, it always tries to connect to MyOwnProvider1 when in fact MyOwnProvider2 was selected!
I have an application where I want to send an email reminder for an appointment 24 hours prior to the event. Users would log in and insert appointments. I would think I would want a background thread running on the server that would regularly check the database (say every hour) and generate an email if there is an event is due within the next day. From what I have read it seems like a Web service might do this. I guess I have a few questions
1) am I on the right track - is this an application for web services
2) can anyone point me to a good resource which can help me create the web service I would need. I would prefer if it is in VB and not C#.
I just recently installed VS 2008 on my workstation. I tried creating a simple web site just to check if the installation was fine. The project compiled without error but when I tried running it, the Macromedia Dreamweaver software is being launch. It tried it several time and it's all the same.I remember during the installation there was an option that was displayed asking me to select Designer or Coder. Since the default is Designer i just click next.
Is there a way to stop launching dreamweaver from VS 2008 every time i try running the web project? Is because I selected "Designer" during the installation?
How to go about creating a grid/table that can updated at run time by the user and can also be printed and exported to Excel. I have the print function working and I know how to export datagrids to Excel. Im going to attach an example to explain more clearly what Im looking for. Is this possible with a datagrid?
