View 4 RepliesI upgraded from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and now the AJAX elements are not recognised by the source code editor, e.g. UpdatePanel, ScriptManager, etc. I get warnings in VS and no intellisense for those elements. When I run the site, all the AJAX controls work OK though.
View 6 RepliesI got a asp: label (hidden by css) to which I store something.
I could not use a hiddenfield since you cannot set a css class on it. I need a css class so I can select it in jQuery. I cannot select by Id since asp.net webforms change your id. I cannot use xxxxx.ClientId, since my jQuery script isn't on that form (oh oh, i miss my mvc)
Anyhow, I pop up a dialog, let the user type sth in. When the dialog closes, I set that label to whatever the use typed in the dialog. That work (I'm testing for now using some alerts) but when I add a button, and in it's click event check the value of taht label, it is still what it originally have been though.
Here is the content of my usercontrol (at run time add as many as needed of them to my view):
Code:
<%@ Control Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="DisputeEntry.ascx.cs" Inherits="TimeSheetDispute.DisputeEntry" %>
<p class="field switch">
<asp:label runat="server" class="disputeReason" ID="disputeReason"></asp:label>
[Code] ....
And in my page, the code that deal with it:
Code:
// Brings up a jQuery UI Dialog containing a textarea to which the user can enter a dispute
// Upon close, place that reason in the hidden input we keep for each date.
function GetDisputeReason(parent) {
var disputeReasonElement = $('.disputeReason', parent);
var existingDispute = disputeReasonElement.val();
var win = $('<div><p>Enter your reason for dispute:</p></div>');
var userInput = $('<textarea style="width:100%">' + existingDispute + '
I have a repeater with select html inside the item template.
I could not use dropdown list as it does not support so i had to build select with inside a repeater.
On button click i want get the value of the selected item.
the inside the repeater does not have runat=server.
How can i do this?
I have vs2005 Pro, vs2008 Pro and vs2010 Pro installed on a Vista machine. Recently I upgraded a non-AJAX web site from vs2008 to vs2010. The web site works fine but now I'd like to use the UpdatePanel. However after I insert the ScriptManager I receive
the following error:
"Element 'ScriptManager' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing."
All the posts I have read seem that I should not see this error in vs2010. I have even added the following to the web.config with no success:
[Code]....
As a side note, I am able to use the latest AJAX Control Toolkit for .NET 4.
I'm looking at an asp.net application, i notice that there are assemblies defined into two places. In web.config there is configuration/system.web/compilation/assemblies/add elements. In the project file there are references setup under the Project/ItemGroup/Reference elements.
I was wondering, what is the difference between assemblies/references added in either location?
Is there a way to retrieve values from the form object using the id element instead of the name element?
View 3 RepliesI have a table in ASP.Net like this.
[code]....
I want to give border line to first td element which contains the colspan and rowspan. Not to the entire row.
I have noticed that when I create a website in a network drive and use the Ajax toolkit I get :
Element 'ToolkitScriptManager' is not a known element
I also noticed that after adding the ToolkitScriptManager it doesn't add the ID in the source code, it looks like this:
<asp:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server"></asp:ToolkisScriptManager>
Is missing the ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" part.
This doesn't happen when I create the site in my local drive. Is there a workaround to this. Even if I add the missing parts, I keep getting the same error.
I would like to select an element that is in the same TR as another element I found with a selector. The selector itself: $("input[name='sMessageValue']","#messageTable") Now I have this element and got its value I would like to find a checkbox located in the same TR, i tried this as starting point : $(this).(':parent').val(). But seems not the right thing to do.
View 9 RepliesYou're making a website with ASP.NET 4.0/C#, although xml alone is suitable for this example. The site will have a site map and a default page with a menu control, as follows:Web.sitemap
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
<siteMap xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/AspNet/SiteMap-File-1.0" >
<siteMapNode url="~/default.aspx" title="Home" description="">
<siteMapNode url="~/1.aspx" title="Link 1" description="" />
<siteMapNode url="~/2.aspx" title="Link 2" description="" />
<siteMapNode url="~/3.aspx" title="Link 3" description="" />
[code]...
Element 'content' is not a known element. this can occur if there is a compilation error in the website, or the web.config file is missing.
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1" Runat="Server">
<asp:Content --- showed a green wavy line , and on hover displayed the above error.
Now I am having certain problems.
1. Visual Studio 2010 hangs when I try to use ToolBox.
2. Intellisense for asp.net controls is not working.
I have tried replacing web.config file (frm backup) , tried to debug - it doesnt show anything.
All other websites are working alright. Have problem with only one of the websites.
Just started using VS2010. It automatically picked up that I had the Ajax Toolkit but I've discovered there is no 'Add Extender' option when you right-click a control. You can drag and drop the extenders into code view but that's far less convenient.
View 2 RepliesI have a web page which contain no. of textboxes which i want to clear on a shot of click button.
View 8 RepliesI created a usercontrol I use to build up a list of at runtime. Each instance represent one category, and it will have a title, description and a button taking the user to the page displaying all articles for that category.
The control's members:
Code:
public string Title { get; set; }
public string Description { get; set; }
public int CategoryId { get; set; }
And the markup:
Code:
<h4><a href="#"><%=Title%></a></h4>
<div>
<p><%=Description%></p>
<p>
<br />
<asp:LinkButton CommandArgument="<%=CategoryId %>" runat="server"
CssClass="small btn red fr" onclick="LinkButton_Click">Go To <%=Title%></asp:LinkButton>
</p>
</div>
The code show's just fine, but the click even never fires when I click the button:
Code:
protected void LinkButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
var x = sender as LinkButton;
string z = x.CommandArgument;
}
Obviously doing it wrong, but then, did not touch webforms in a long time.
I have an ASP:Button inside a Repeater control. The repeater is databound in code-behind. The Button text is populated with the data field value. When I click on one of the buttons, I want the text value to update a variable whos value is used to re-query the sql tables and redisplay the page. What I have so far does not update the value when one of the buttons is clicked.
Code:
asp code for the repeater:
<asp:Repeater ID="rptYears" runat="server" OnItemCommand="yr_ItemCommand">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Button ID="btnYear" runat="server" CssClass="yrBtn" Text='<%# Eval("YR") %>' />
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:Repeater>
vb code:
Public Class AssessDetails
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Dim theTaxkey As String = ""
Dim theYear As Short
[Code] ....
I have a WebUserControl with a Button and some other controls (placeholder for images, labels). On a certain page, a number of these WebUserControls are created (using Me.LoadControl) and added to a PlaceHolder on the page.When the user clicks the button on either of these usercontrols, I want a method on the page to be called. I have been doing this by handling the Button Click event on the usercontrol, and then letting the usercontrol raise another event. I use AddHandler after creating the usercontrol to add an eventhandler method to this custom event. Sounds confusing? Here's a simple example.
The WebUserControl:
asp Code:
<%@ Control Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="TestControl.ascx.vb" Inherits="CSLimitedEdition.Controls.TestControl" %><asp:Button runat="server" ID="btn" Text="Button" />
vb.net Code:
Namespace Controls Public Class TestControl Inherits System.Web.UI.UserControl Public Event ButtonClicked As EventHandler ' Just some property to test with Public Property Number As Integer Protected Sub btn_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btn.Click ' When the button is clicked, raise a ButtonClicked event to handle on the Page RaiseEvent ButtonClicked(Me, e) End Sub End ClassEnd Namespace
The Page to place a number of these controls on:
asp Code:
<%@ Page Title="" Language="vb" AutoEventWireup="false" MasterPageFile="~/Site.Master" CodeBehind="TestPage.aspx.vb" Inherits="CSLimitedEdition.Pages.TestPage" %><asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="HeadContent" runat="server"></asp:Content><asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server"> <p> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lbl" /> </p> <p> <asp:PlaceHolder runat="server" ID="placeHolder" /> </p> </asp:Content>
vb.net Code:
Imports CSLimitedEdition.Controls Namespace Pages Public Class TestPage Inherits System.Web.UI.Page Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load If Not Me.IsPostBack Then Me.AddControls() End If End Sub Private Sub AddControls() For i As Integer = 1 To 5 ' Create the control Dim c As TestControl = DirectCast(Me.LoadControl("~/Controls/TestControl.ascx"), TestControl) ' Set some property for testing and add event handler c.Number = i AddHandler c.ButtonClicked, AddressOf TestControl_ButtonClicked ' Add it to the place holder placeHolder.Controls.Add(c) Next End Sub Private Sub TestControl_ButtonClicked(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) ' When a button on a usercontrol is clicked, set the label text to the 'Number' property of that control Dim c As TestControl = DirectCast(sender, TestControl) lbl.Text = c.Number.ToString() End Sub End ClassEnd Namespace
The idea is this:Button is clicked on the TestControl: TestControl.ButtonClicked event is raised. On the TestPage, the bestControl_ButtonClicked method is called The Number property of the calling TestControl is assigned to a label so I can see it. However, it seems that the TestControl_ButtonClicked method is never called. Via debugging I can confirm that the Button Click event, on the TestControl usercontrol, is fired, so that the TestControl.btn_Click method is called. The TestControl.ButtonClicked event is raised.After creating a TestControl, the AddHandler statement is executed. After clicking a button on the page however, nothing happens. The page just posts back, all the buttons are gone (ok, I'm not loading them again in case of a postback), but the label does not get the text.In fact, the ButtonClick handler method (TestPage.TestControl_ButtonClicked) method is never called! What could be causing this? I am sure that I have been using this method a few weeks ago, in this very project, yet suddenly it has stopped working. I thought it might be a one-time thing but with these new TestControl and TestPage the same thing happens. The same thing happens also in a completely new and separate project. I don't get it, this WAS working?
This is the first time i am experiencing vs 2010 hangs up when clicked on .sql file. I am using intel core 1.8Ghz with 2.24Gb of RAM. It work file with other project. We need to end the task to stop running. I have installed only Visual C# Items.The problem happens when i create a new project 1. file new project2. Under Visual C# Items Click on windows 3. Click on empty project4. Then i am trying to add .sql file but cannot find it.5. so i use add WinScript1.wsf and rename it to tblABC.sql 6. When i double click on tblABC.sql it hangs7. I need to end the task to stop working.
View 6 RepliesI got this errors while trying to use an example from the ASP.NET 3.5 Unleashed book.
Webform1.aspx
[Code]....
LengthValidator.cs
[Code]....
As from the book's note, I think I added this line correctly:
[Code]....
However, the compiler kept complaining that:
Warning 1 Element 'LengthValidator' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing. C:Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET ProjectsWebApplicationFourWebApplicationFourWebForm1.aspx 16 17 WebApplicationFour
I am using dotnetCHARTING: the dll is installed in the GAC and referenced in my web.config (all versions appear to match). The project has a reference to the dll.
web.config:
<add assembly="dotnetCHARTING, Version=5.3.3540.17054, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=af2cd47db69d93bd"/>
The site code compiles ok, but all aspx pages using the charting library complain that the Chart tag does not exist (warning that it might be a compile error). The aspx pages do not render the charts.
Each page has a reference to the assembly:
<%@ Register Assembly="dotnetCHARTING" Namespace="dotnetCHARTING" TagPrefix="dotnetCHARTING" %>
What does that means below warning:
Element 'AsyncPostBackTrigger' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing.
My app is working properly but visual studio showing warning like that.
Element 'ScriptManager' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site.
Element 'UpdatePanel' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site.
tried many thingschecked web config filereinstalled ajaxtoolkit
but nothing is working
getting error in the whole projectalong with this getting error for other asp,net controls also
Element 'TextBox' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site.
I have installed VS2010 ultimate and have read with interest about the new publish options, config transformations but none of them are available. I have tried creating different release versions and cannot see the option, also have no new options for publish, just look like the VS2008 ones.
Is there some service pack or pack that i need to install these or does it sound like a reinstall?
I am building this simple quiz application using asp.net/vb.net and sql server for the database. Now what I want to happen is that when I click on submit button, it will count all the correct answers of the user based on the radio button he clicks.
I have two radio buttons and the correct answer for those two radio buttons is A, now if they click both A for those 2 radio buttons, they will get a score of two else if wrong, it won't count the incorrect answer.
Code:
Dim score As Integer = 0
If RbAnswers1.SelectedValue = "A" Then
For score = 0 To lbCorrectAnswerCount.Text.Count - 1
score += 1
Next score
If RbAnswers2.SelectedValue = "A" Then
