I got a IList<Category> where a Category have an id, name and parentid. Right now I loop over all categories where the parent id is 0 (so they are root) and for each of those child categories I call a recursive function that add the child categories to the child nodes. Works fine. However, I (think) I'm going to do away with the asp:treeview since now, next to each Category I want an Edit and Delete Link.

I am using the ajax reorderlist control from the latest Ajax Control toolkit. Based on the logged on user, I need to hide the "edit" and "delete" links. They should be visible to admin, and not visible to others. I used to control this when I was using a gridview just by calling the column and setting it's visible property to false. I have tried using:
ReorderListMinutes.TemplateControl.FindControl("lnkDeleteAgendaItem").Visible =
False
ReorderListMinutes.TemplateControl.FindControl("lnkEdit").Visible =
False
This returns an error of the dreaded "Object reference not set to an instance of an object."
How do I reference the delete button to add the delete confirmation box when I have both the Edit and Delete buttons as the last two columns in the Gridview control. The following code works fine without any issues when I have the delete button only:

How do I reference the delete button so the edit button is not affected in this case?
Should bar on the HTML designer show the tag name? It sometimes does!

I thought for sure it must be a bug but considering that I heard that MS was rewriting the editor (designer too?) I am starting to question whether I know how to use it!
Note the "TD" tooltip on the bottom right. Shouldn't this "TD" appear on the bar on the far right where the mouse would be?

Which works great. I have different areas of the intranet where I'm using this. The first page only needs to read the plain data from the Excel sheet. But, now I'm trying to read the data, but also keep the links that are within the sheet.
The data that is populate basically looks like this:
#1 Name Link1 Link2
#2 Name Link1 Link2
#3 Name Link1 Link2
But the links aren't kept. So, how I can accomplish this.
There might be an easier way, but this is what I was thinking. The links correspond to PDFs on the server. When the data loads, I could loop through the list and dynamically change each "link" cell to a hyperlink. The problem is matching up the link to the PDFs. The name of the PDFs aren't exactly the same as the name in the cell. So I'd have to create another table or something, that could reference that data. A Select Case would work, but that's super time consuming and I have to make this as seamless to update as possible.
So I'm not sure I want to do that. If I could just maintain the links as the data has bound, that'd be awesome. But I have a feeling that won't be possible. My searches are coming up short so far.
I have a ASP.NET project which relies upon the FreeImage .NET wrapper. This is loaded using a reference to a external directory. The wrapper relies upon the FreeImage.dll being present to work (clearly). How do I get Visual Studio to include a reference to the FreeImage dll. It's not a .NET assembly, i think it was built in something else (so I can't add it as a reference).
I don't really want to have a copy for this project as these files reside in a different SVN repository

Anyway, I want a way to have an administrator login to my website and have the ability to modify, edit, delete, or add whatever he wants on the fly. How would I do that?! I really don't think that whenever the people I'm making the website for would need changes or adding new pages would call me to do that for them! So, I must provide them with their own means of administrating their own site after I'm done with it.
I have thought about using webparts but they're not thorough for everything in the site. Also, a side question, where should I put text content of the page in? Should I store it in a database, text file, or hard code it in the page?

my requirement is i want to display image instead of edit and delete Ajax.ActionLink with same functionality.
Lot of times I did edit, delete, insert in my webproject in different pages but I am very surprised that why I am not remembering the technique to do these task. Actualy I never take any course on asp.net/vb.net, what I did in my project just to take help from forum or asp.net website etc. I get a task again to make a web interface having functionality to view data and provide Edit functionality also. The other task is to click a link in the same page to open a new page with the fields of the same table to insert new record.
Q1: Is it necessary to take a dataset or I simply do it using sqlDatasource?
Q2: Could anyone give me a very basic and simple vb.net/asp.net project with all above tasks so that I will do a practice project and never miss it?
