VS 2010 - Publish Web Doesn't Copy SVG Files

Mar 7, 2012

How can I tell Visual Studio to copy .svg files when I publish from the "Publish Web" dialog (right-click on Project and select "Publish...")? It's copying all other image files to the target directory, but is not copying .svg files.

Making The VS2010 Publish Wizard To Copy App_offline.htm While It Is Publishing The Site?

Sep 2, 2010

After seeing the Hanselman "You are doing it wrong" video I start to use the Web Publish feature of VS2010.

What I'm really missing is that the websites sometimes gives errors while the site is publishing because the feature does not copy the app_offline.htm file to the server.

I do not want to start using MSDeploy scripts, because I have several sites and want to keep it simple.

Maybe there is a simple tweak to tell the wizard to copy and then delete the file.

Configuration :: Use To Copy/publish Websites To Web Server Is Not Allowing Us Access To Push Websites?

Oct 15, 2010

the account we use to copy/publish websites to our web server is not allowing us access to push websites. I've added this account to the permissions in the links listed in the below link, but i don't have success when trying to push remotely. When the account is in the local admins account, everything works flawlessly, but we are not allowed to have it in there. http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vssetup/thread/31be047e-4716-4974-b8a1-be0111b50199 I've googled and searched a lot for this particular error, but am not finding an answer that helps. We get this error, 'Unable to create the Web 'http://edea01/test/planning'. You are not authorized to perform the current operation', and the above link is the scenario that matches mine the most. I don't do develompment work, but am asked to figure out this connection problem.

Then I publish the project, where the service URL is localhost. Site/Application is Default Web Site/TestProject.

I go to IIS 7, under sites->Default Web Site, there is a folder called TestProject. I right click and select Manage folder->browse

But I received an error on the browser:

Unable To Publish Website On Visual Studio 2010?

Jul 5, 2010

Recently I've upgraded from Visual Studio 2008 to Visual Studio 2010, however I'm having various problems when uploading my compiled web site to the live area. I'm doing exactly the same as I would have done with Visual Studio 2008, however, now I receive errors such as:

{filename}.aspx is not a pre-compiled file
masterpage.master does not exist

All these errors don't make sense. Has anyone encountered these problems before, and was a solution ever found?

Visual Studio 2010 - WDP Or Publish For Automated Deployment?

Jun 21, 2010

I'm about to upgrade to Visual Studio 2010, and I'm learning that there are now a few options for deploying web application projects. I've been using Web Deployment Projects in 2008, and my initial thought was to do the same in 2010.

Is there any advantage to using Publish or the Web Deployment Tool over Web Deployment Projects?

I need to automate the process so that the build and the deployment can be run from TeamCity. I'd prefer a method that would allow me to use the Visual Studio (sln) Runner but a custom MSBuild script would be OK too. See Web Application Deployment Workflow with SVN and TeamCity for more information on my current build/deployment workflow.

Visual Studio 2010 - Can't Publish Colleagues ASP.NET Web Application To A Web Server

My colleague and I are both using VS 2010 and we have created a web application each. We can both publish our own applications to a ftp (web host's) and it works fine. However, if my colleague send me his solution and I run it locally on my machine it works but when I try to publish it I get promped for password and I enter it (same as I use for my application) but it fails. Same for my colleague if he takes a copy of my solution and tries to publish it.

How To Publish A Full Website Without Compiling And Without Copying SVN Files

Aug 17, 2010

Apparently, DNN installations do not like to be precompiled (they won't be able to find any localized strings then). Our installation is safely put in SVN, which means I cannot just copy the whole directory. To publish everything, I need to copy the whole website directory without the SVN files and directories. So far, I've been messing with good old DOS commands, which is time consuming and error prone.

an MS-Built script or step to do just this? Or can I do this using default Visual Studio 2010 commands?

Note: this is a website, not a web application.

Visual Studio :: How To Make VS Publish Ism, Ismc, Dat Files

Oct 13, 2010

Smooth Streaming requires .ism, .ismc, .dat files to make the Silverlight video player page work. If the "Only files needed to run this application" is selectd in the "Package/Publish Web" tab, these files are not published. Now I have to select "All files in this project" to publish them but this is undesirable because it also pushes all the source code files to the server. Is there any way to specifically tell VS that .ism, ismc and .dat files are required to run the application?

Configuration :: Visual Studio Publish Not Updating Files?

Feb 24, 2011

Up until recently this worked without an issue. I am very certain I did not change any settings intentionally in VS2010. So I change a file in my project, something as basic as a web.config file. Clean and build the solution then Publish to a file system. No errors, goes through all the directories, but when I check the production site, the files are not being updated. What could cause this, and how does one fix it?

I wanted to know, that since I re-compiled the site, and saw the changes locally, do I now need to FTP all of the files?

Or can I just upload the file that I changed- the MasterPage?

Also, Im planning on making a change to a Class. Can I just upload that .cs file by itself?
