Got a windows forms user control dll embedded in an asp page using the html form control object tag as it needs to run client side. The windows form control does something and then needs to redirect to a another aspx page passing a parameter obtained from a calculation in the windows form contro dll. Is the redirect possible from the windows form control (same session id needs to be used) since obviously you can't call response.redirect since its not part of the server side wep page.
I've recently found out that the MessageBox from Windows.Forms can be used in a web page, but there's a problem when showing it, it's not modal. Is there a way to make it modal?
I want to create a download link for my Windows Forms application. I know you can do that using ClickOnce but I don't want a ClickOnce app so a added a setup project to my application that I just got to work the way I want so now I want to make it downloadable from my website. Should a I a web service or a WCF Service to do this or something else and what else should I do?

I have this .aspx page in my Visual Studio 2008 web project solution, with a media player control and a button which invokes it and starts playing a file:
[code]
line is added to the .aspx page. When the page is now loaded, and the button from before that used to work gets clicked, i get a Javascript error saying that 'Player' is not defined.
I'm working on an Intranet Web site that will include an audio playback feature. I'm approaching this with an embedded Windows Media Player (class ID: 6BF52A52-394A-11D3-B153-00C04F79FAA6). The problem I have is that if I set an missing or inaccesible as the URL I can't find a way to determine from Javascript that it failed to play. It appears the player starts to play and immediatly stops. How do I detect a File Not Found or other error?
I have an aspx page and I want to access an application on the client after seeking user permission. Both the windows application and the website are to be made in VB.NET.
EDIT: Here is the problem. From my .aspx webpage in vb.net, a visitor clicks on a link on my site, and if my winform is not already loaded on their desktop, it is then loaded with the users permission. This application should auto-load on the user's site at boot up time and always be in the background running. Make it an extremely thin client, taking the least cpu and bandwidth from the user, and running as a silent background process until needed.
Whenever the user visits one of my many websites, IN ANY BROWSER, somehow - the app running in the background communicates with the .aspx on one of my sites, and exchanges a silent username password identifying client winform app to the online .aspx app on my website.
Then the .aspx on my site PASSES a url such as "www.somewebsite.com" to the app running in the background, the background app then does a http request from the client's computer, not from my .aspx server, so the client's cookies and ip are visible to "www.somewebsite.com" server. The client collects the html for that page, stores it as a string, and also saves the ascii of that webpage as another string.
Both strings then are PASSED BACK to my .aspx website that the client is visiting, and the .aspx app then stores these results in a database.
I want to add quartz scheduling to an ASP.NET application. It will be used to send queued up emails. What are the pros and cons of running quartz.net as windows service vs embedded. My main concern is how Quartz.NET in embedded mode handles variable number of worker processes in IIS.
I have an application which is used by others on different server without problems. The app was programmed by a programmer who is not available now. It was developed on .net 2.0. The windows 2003 is a new server, asp.net is enabled. from iis, I can configure it to use asp.net 2.0....,
but, when I load the site, it always show the 404. even after I change the default.aspx to a blank page, it still shows 404. however, if I put a default.htm in the folder, and it can be loaded without problems.
what can cause this? how to fix it? if I installed a vs2005 express on the server, will it fix the problem?
it seems the asp.net 2.0 dll is not recognized on server. never had this problem before.
I have a gridview control on a .aspx page (content form).
Paging is enabled on gridview control. It displays the page numbers at the bottom of the .aspx page. When I click on a page number say 3, I get error saying the "Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: The GridView 'GridViewReconresults' fired event PageIndexChanging which wasn't handled."
Do I need to write special code to handle the paging? Because there is a grid in another page and it has bound columns and I didn't write any code for paging and it works perfectly fine.
Here is the code in the .aspx page that I have problem.
I've a problem with my Visual Studio. On the 13th of August 2010 i installed a Windows update on my vista sp2 pc. For this date my Visual Studio 2008 sp 1 always has closed itself by opening an aspx-page in designer view. There is no error message just closing the window. I restored a backup of my windows from the time before updating it and it helped, i could open aspx pages in the design view till the update has been installed again automatically after rebooting the pc. I can't disable windows updates, cause it's my pc at work and safety is very important.
I have a clean installation of Windows 7 with VS2010 RTM and am trying to get the ASP.NET Development Server to work. When I run the project, the WebDev server starts and shows that it's listening on port x on localhost. I've tried:telnet to the port. The port is not listening. running netstat -o shows that the WebDev server is in fact not listening on any port. manually changing the WebDev port to a different port and restarted VS without effect. I have Windows Firewall turned off entirely and am not running any other firewall software either.
Under Visual Studio 2010, I'm developing an asp.net application. I added a folder to my project called Flash. Under Flash folder I added a swf file with its external resources to run.
The folder content: 1- ScrollingImages.swf file to lunch the flash 2- ScrollingImages.xml file that the swf file uses to read images from thumbnails folder 3-thumbnails folder which content images used by swf file. I can embed the swf file to html easily using this code:
[Code]....
But when I use the same code to embed it to asp.net page I will have a problem that the flash will run but I cannot see the images so the swf file unable to locate the xml file and the folder of the images location and they all in the same folder. Here is the code I used in the aspx.net content page.
[Code]....
I also tested it in aspx.net page and I'm getting same result no images appear. I know that the problem is related to who to embed the swf external resources (the xml file and the images folder) to the aspx.net page but I searched a lot and I could solve it.
I have a drop down list embedded in a menu panel in my master page. This ddl fetches it's list items from my SQL Server. They are:
1. Select a type --appended during page load
2. Green type -- fetched from SQL server via a datasource
3. Red type -- fetched from SQL server via a datasource
4. User Manual -- appended during page load
For the sake of simplicity my website has 4 pages. When the 'Select a type' list item is selected - the user should be taken to a general 'Introduction' page. When the 'Green type' - the user should be taken to a 'Green' page - and etc.
installing visual studio 2010 pro RC in windows Xp SP3 and getting a message prompt : invalid windows installer package contact vendorlog file says

I know Silverlight controls can be embedded in an ASP.NET page but is it possible to do the same for a WPF control? The reason I am asking is because we have Infragistics which has a datagrid that can be flipped to have the columns on the left with the rows of data going down vertically. This is only in their WPF package though and I am trying to figure out a way to plug this in to an ASP.NET page.
I have an ASP.NET page where I call this.DataBind() to bind the controls. I also have various user controls embedded. One has a drop down list, the bind statement gets called for it 2x but the sender the first time is not the drop down list.
Am I using the databind incorrectly? I use databind to get the properties of my page bound to a datasource so that I can use those properties in the declarative code.
In my DropDownList, I added if (sender == dropDownList) which solved the problem
I have recently purchased a new PC with Windows 7 Pro. My previous PC had Windows XP Media Edition (don't laugh it worked ) Which is exactly my point my app in VS2010 that consumed an intranet web service worked fine on the XP machine buut when I moved it over to the Win7 machine I keep getting an error from the web service that simply says "Unknown". I am trying to find out from the web service creator what that means but my point is that I do not understand why changing PC's and OS's should make a difference. This is not the only software though. I have 3 separate ASP.NET softwares that consume the web service and none of them that were (and still do) working in the XP function in the Win7. I have disabled my firewall to see if it was blocking for some reason..
