I tried using the the New ASP.NET Default Web Template in Visual Studio 2010 but one issue I'm encountering is with the CSS selected menu item and read apost which stated that...
"This screenshot demonstrates some of the styling options provided by the CSS, including the style for the selected About menu item"...In the screenshot the "About Us" menu item is highlighted but the page's content is the "Home" page content, not "About Us" page. My problem is...I can't get the selected item to be highlighted as in the screenshot even with fresh site using the built in template.

Had two questions about the ASP.NET menu control.
1) I have a menu control which is using a SiteMapDataSource. This is bound to a .sitemap file. I have the orientation property set to horizontal, but for some strange reason it still displays vertical. I can't for the life of me figure out why it's doing this. Am I doing something wrong here?
2) Is there a way to not display the root (Home) directory on my menu control? I only want to show Customer Support, Technician Support, Administration, and Site Map on the control.

I recently converted a VS 2008 project to 2010 and without any provocation or warning, the later version very rudely scrunched together the nice menu I had along the top of the page, like this:In other words, the red menu at the top used to be distributed evenly across the page. I use the SiteMapDataSource and Menu control for the menu. Any ideas why this occurred and how to fix it?

We have to develop an application which has a Vertical left pane menu control which displays all the web pages (A,B,C say). Now if user is in page A and filled some data and clicks on menu control to go to page B, all the data in page A needs to be saved. Also if all the required field in page A are not filled and user navigated to page B, there will be one ! sign after the menu so that user can understand that there some some more fields need to be filled up.
We are planning to place the menu control in the Mater page. Please give me some direction to do this. My question is:
1. If user change menu (In Master Page), how should we save data?
2. How should we display the ! in the menu control?

Our users can currently select a number of funds from a page and go to another page to see the funds compared on a chart. I now have to present the user with an option to produce a print-friendly fact sheet page for each fund in the chart.
The requirement is that each page will open in a new window (or tab), and be minimised so as not to be 'too intrusive' when they're opened. how I could go about this? This also means that the user will have to go to each window or tab to print the page.
They also want the print dialog box open in each of the new windows so the user doesn't have to open it. Is this possible, for the print dialog to open at the page load? I disagree that (up to) 10 new windows can ever be anything but intrusive! Ideally I could send these new pages directly to the print queue. Is this possible?
Otherwise, I could Generate a page dynamically for each fund, strip out the contents of the page body and add the content for that fund to a large single page print-friendly factsheet. Does anyone have experience in this kind of work?

I have two ASP.NET Menu controls on a page. One in my header (tabs) for top level pages, e.g. ~/Default.aspx
And one in my sidebar for sub pages, e.g. ~/Products/SomeProduct.aspxI'm using the selected CSS class to ensure that the selected tab is a different colour.Works fine for top level pages, but if I view a sub page, the tab isn't assigned a CSS class of selected.How can I ensure that the top level menu item has a CSS class of selected when viewing a sub page?

I've been trying to find an easy way of highlighting the current selected menu item of an asp.net menu (so the user knows which page they are on), but no matter what I have tried I can't get it to work. In my markup I have:
<asp:Menu SkinID="modulesMenu" DataSourceID="modulesSource" runat="server" ID="ModulesMenu"
OnMenuItemDataBound="ModulesMenu_MenuItemDataBound">
<StaticItemTemplate>
<div>
<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink2" CssClass="moduleName"
[Code] ....
This is the c# side
protected void ModulesMenu_MenuItemDataBound(object sender, MenuEventArgs e) {
SiteMapNode siteMapNode = (SiteMapNode)e.Item.DataItem;
string pathStringFormat = IsNodeActive(siteMapNode) ? ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ModuleImagePathFormatString_Active"] : ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["ModuleImagePathFormatString_Inactive"];
[Code] .....

I have an internal web application used by one department in our company. The app has a page with a gridview showing all inspection records for a part. When the user clicks on a record it will open that record in another tab. After they are done editing that record and click the close button I would like the original page with the gridview to refresh. Is this possible? Any examples? I've googled and checked other forums and can't seem to find any reliable method to do this.

Is there a convenient way to change the style of a menu item in an MVC master page? I want to show which menu item is currently being active. So far, the only way I could think of was a brute force way, to duplicate the menu in multiple master pages, and mark one as selected:

I am working on a website at the moment, I am using .NET 4 and VB. My site is contained within a Master Page and all working OK. I am using an ASP:MENU control which is driven by a web.sitemap file and works a treat. I have had an idea of something I would like to know but I am struggling to get it going correctly (not sure if it is even possible) What I am after doing is having the main categories of my website across the top horizonally (this part is no problem) and the sub menu items going vertically but down the left side of the page such as:
Logo Here
Menu Head 1
Menu Head 2
Menu Head 3
Sub Menu Head 1
Sub Menu Head 2
Sub Menu Head 3
Does anyone have any idea if such a thing is possible or not?
