I just moved into a new computer running Windows 7 pro, and I installed a new copy of VS2010. Now all of my old sites that I made in VS2008 do not have their web.config files. Does anyone know what happens to them in VS2010, or Windows 7?

The upgrade was successful with no problems however im missing some features with this project. The One Click Publish feature(which is greyed out) in the header area of Visual Studio 2010 and the Add Config Transforms feature which is no where to be seen when you right click on web.config. When i create a new web project straight from visual studio 2010, these options work fine.

(I manually removed the characters after copying here). My beta2 started to have the problem a month ago. Now I installed RC, same problem. My windows is XP SP3.

I have a couple files that are missing after a I publish a web application project in VS 2008. I know that the files need to be included in the solution and they are. I have tried excluding them and including them to hopefully reset whatever is missing these files in the first plac but that had no effect.
Ultimately, I need this to work on the command line with msbuild.exe, but I get the same results when I publish through VS.
Knowing that the files are already included in the project, what else do I need to do to get these to files to be copied over in the publish/build?
Im working on a website project with Visual Studio 2010 from 2 different computers (home & work).
In Dreamweaver Im used to FTP to upload/download files to/from a webserver to syncronice my files on the current computer Im working on.What is best option in Visual Studio 2010 to sync project files between home & work computers? I have seen there is a built in FTP, but seems only it can upload files, limited functionality?
Today in one of the computer i installed visual studio 2010 professional edition, and successfully installed. But in my new project template "Asp.net MVC 2 website" is missing. Also I'm not able to open an already created MVC 2 project also. I'm also having MVC 2 installed with VS 2008 Sp1 in the same machine and is working fine. I uninstalled and installed again, the same is happening.

In machine.config, the following line has errors in both entries for <Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior>. When I hover the cursor over them I get a tooltip text which displays: "The element 'endpointBehaviors' has invalid child element 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior'. Opening an existing asp.net 3.5 project using VWD Express 2010, the database diagram file under Database Diagrams folder went missing in Database Explorer tab. Everything is in there when I first created the diagram using VWD Express 2008. However, when I look at the .dbml file, the associated relationship between dozens of tables exist and my project runs successfully. I'm planning to create another table with relationships from existing tables but seems like I have to painfully recreate them back from scratch. How can I recover those diagrams?

View 1 RepliesI have a Silverlight site hosted in an asp page, it has been developed using vs2010 using .net 3.5 framework and silverlight 4. It all works on my dev box. However when I publish the site and get it deployed I get the error:
Could not load file or assembly 'Moe.Tactical.Ttas.Web' or one of its dependencies. This assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime and cannot be loaded.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I have checked that the ISS asp setting are using 2.0.50727, and that all my references are using that runtime also.
I am not sure what to do to work out what the missing dependencies are at this point (I don't have access to the deployment box, I will have to go and sit with a system admin).

I'm using VS 2010 Express Edition (VWD) to develop a website project that will be deployed to a Windows 2000 Server (targeting .NET 2.0). BACKGROUND: The website was new, so I chose the 'c# blank website' project template in VS 2010. This (as you may know) gave me an extremely more lean web.config file than VS 2008. I like that for 4.0 development, but I'm going to be deploying it to the testing region tomorrow and I'm getting concerned that all that extra stuff that used to be in the web.config is going to bite me.

View 1 RepliesI am working on an ASP.NET project in Visual Studio .NET 2010 and attempting to make an MSI installer using a Web Setup Project. I added the Primary output from the project (which seems to pull in the relevant dependencies) and the Content Files from the project (which pulls in the Web.config and the .svc files).
The issue is that rather than applying the XDT transform and creating the Web.config using the Web.Release.config, it just copies the Web.config, the Web.Release.config, and the Web.Debug.config into the installer without doing any transformation at all.
How do I get it to apply the Web.config transformation before creating the installer?
After i publish my web.config i get null reference to all the code that uses the webconfig.What could be happening?I checked my web.config property and its set to Embedded Resource.

According to this blog entry, VS 2010 is supposed to provide a context menu entry on the original web.config file, Add Config Transform, allowing to add build configuration dependant web.config files to the project. But this context menu entry doesn't exist. What did I do wrong?

I have installed VS2010 ultimate and have read with interest about the new publish options, config transformations but none of them are available. I have tried creating different release versions and cannot see the option, also have no new options for publish, just look like the VS2008 ones.
Is there some service pack or pack that i need to install these or does it sound like a reinstall?
