I'd like to know if I can install both 2008 and 2010 of VWD and use SSEE2008 without ANY difficulties. I need to support some existing sites in 2008 and want to be sure that I can still do that if I load 2010.

View 8 RepliesI have an ASP.Net project created by a team member on another computer. The project references a virtual directory that exists on my computer but under a different localhost location.Currently, the following error occurs when I try to open the project:
The local IIS URL http://localhost/foo/default.aspx specified for Web project foobar has not been configured. In order to open this project the virtual directory needs to be configured. Would you like to create the virtual directory now?[Yes] [No]
So, there are two options: select yes: It creates the virtual directory that it thinks I need, which I don't want to do. I already have a virtual directory somewhere else.
select no: This isn't an option, as the project opens, but without all the bells and whistles I know and love.
Where is the virtual directory location (in my case http://localhost/foo/default.aspx) specified within the project? Can I change this manually, say in a configuration file within the project, either before or after I open it? A configuration change seems more ideal than manually opening IIS to override a virtual directory path.
EDIT (solution): Buried in the comments below is the following answer (Thanks @Thyamine)This can be configured in the foo.csproj file for the project. Look for the lines:

we are planning to use ASP .NET and Oracle Database, however, I don't know what are the requirements for developement/Production machine besides .NET Framework and Visual Studio 2008 Express edition.I am confused between various providers.
Developement:
.NET Framework/VS 2008 Express.
Production Server.
Win2003 Server with IIS
please correct me if I am missing any other elements required to connect to a remote DB Server or Local one. If any provider is needed how do you deploy it at production server?

View 1 RepliesI just installed VS2010 and opened the root machine.config and web.config files for review and I found some errors. In machine.config, the following line has errors in both entries for <Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior>. When I hover the cursor over them I get a tooltip text which displays: "The element 'endpointBehaviors' has invalid child element 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Diagnostics.ServiceModelSink.Behavior'. List of possible elements expected: '...(list of options here)...'. The same problem happens for the second appereance in tag <serviceBehaviors>.

Problem:
I have a small project and build it to library .dll file with some function util.
From an other website (with diffirence solution). I added reference the .dll before to website.
In website, I declaration to using the function in library (dll file before). But I found error:
Error 1 Type 'LibraryName' is not defined.
And in VS2010 the problem is same.
But, run website on an other computer, it work normally.
Is there a spell checker add in that can be used with VS2010 express? I have downloaded a add-in for 2008 that "claims" to work with 2010 but when I installed it on my machine it does not show up in the tools menu and I cannot find the exe to add it via the external tools interface. Is there a add-in for VS2010 paid or free?

View 2 RepliesI recently set up a new development machine for myself back in November, and naively downloaded the then-current versions of VWD Express (2010) and SQL Server Express (2008 R2). Bummer to find out that they are not compatible. VWDE 2010 won't deal with a database version beyond 655, while SQL Server 2008 R2 is 661. It's puzzling that Microsoft shows the following in its Express website [URL]Powerful Set of Free ToolsMicrosoft® Visual Web Developer® 2010 Express provides you with everything you need to start building standards-friendly Web applications.SQL Server® 2008 R2 Express Edition is a lightweight, feature-rich, powerful database for your Web data-enabled needs.
Has the issue already been fixed (i.e. if I reinstall VWD 2010 Express today, will it now handle version 661 databases? Or will the issue be fixed at some point in the future? Or is it necessary (and even possible) to remove R2 and install plain SQL Server 2008 to get databases that VWDE 2010 will work with?
Can Report Viewer 2010 control be used in Visual studio 2008 (ASP.NET apps) without problems? I saw this post about it and wanted to know if this is supported and is OK.

I have wonder if you could try to help me with the fallowing issue:When trying to add a new sql server connection (local or remount) from VS(visual studio) 2008 express - on the add connection dialog
box: server name: are Empty!!
The vs couldn't point to any database, like dont recognize the sqlExpress 2008 instance i got on my machine.
1. Have tried to "play" with sa property's(from sqlS: Databases: security: login tree folder) and with the sql
s windows service: stop and restart
2. And so with the target db.

On the services.msc
The sql server express the status is started.
The sql server agent status is disabled and don't have the option to start.
The sql server explorer status is disabled and don't have the option to start.
4. And so reinstalled the asp.
I had archived all of my files prior to the change. Since I am now having a great deal of trouble working with 2010, I want to revert. My question is: If I restore all of the archived files and start 2008, will I need to make any changes to the registry or to any other files?
The problems that I am having are illusive. Some of the relative paths nolonger work. Some f the projects that had been working for 24 months no longer functions. I am having a great deal of trouble calling my older "[WebMethod]" "ASMX" services and many other issues.
