I am looking at developing using Visual Studio 2010/2008 and SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7. Should I be able to do this on Windows 7 Professional, or do you need Windows 7 Ultimate?

View 5 RepliesMy existing system has Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. But Microsoft web installer for Webmatrix has made Wematrix Launch ribbon menu pointing to Visual Studio 2008. How could I make Webmatrix point to Visual Web Express 2010. To make use of IntelliSense and the debugger, I have to manually launch Visual Web Developer 2010 Express.
View 8 RepliesI'd like to know if I can install both 2008 and 2010 of VWD and use SSEE2008 without ANY difficulties. I need to support some existing sites in 2008 and want to be sure that I can still do that if I load 2010.
View 4 RepliesI tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
View 1 RepliesI recently "inadvertantly" installed VWD 2010. I still have my Visual Studio 2008 (full version) installed and want to remove VWD 2010. I want to recompile my active projects under VS 2008. Here are the steps I am planning to undertake. Am I missing anything?
1. Save all active projects 2. Remove VWD 2010 using "Uninstall Programs" from the control panel.3. remove ASP 4.0 via the same route.4. Reinstall VS 2008 5. Reinstall all service packs. Will this bring me back to a fully functional VS 2008? Need I make any additional registry changes? For the record, I do like VWD 2010 and would like to upgrade to the professional version but I cannot afford to do so at this time. I need to build some console applications and this is not possible under VWD. I am also unable to install C# Express.
I tried copying the .aspx and .aspx.vb files from my existing VS 2008 web site directory into the VS 2010 project directory (which is how I converted projects from VS2005 to VS2008), but that doesn't seem to make the files appear in the project/solution in VS 2010.So, I've got this site I built in VS2008, and I want to start editing it in VS2010. What's the best way to do this?
View 1 RepliesAfter I installed Visual Studio 2008 Standard edition, then I upgrade "SQL Server Express 2005" to "SQL Server Express 2008 SP2". Process upgrading SQL Server Express 2008 was going succesfully (none of the process was fail).
But when I create a New Website I could not add a new item "SQL Server Database" into my website file. Because Visual Studio always rejected any new "SQL Server Database" by giving message below (underline):
This server version is not supported. Only servers up to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 are supported.
tell me the way to solved my problem to looking for a long time.
My System Info:

VS: Visual Studio 2008 - Professional (and problem with my VS2010 installed)
Problem:
I have a small project and build it to library .dll file with some function util.

Is there a spell checker add in that can be used with VS2010 express? I have downloaded a add-in for 2008 that "claims" to work with 2010 but when I installed it on my machine it does not show up in the tools menu and I cannot find the exe to add it via the external tools interface. Is there a add-in for VS2010 paid or free?
View 1 Repliescan visual studio 2010 express be installed on a pc with visual studio 2008 and visual studio 2005?
View 2 RepliesI recently set up a new development machine for myself back in November, and naively downloaded the then-current versions of VWD Express (2010) and SQL Server Express (2008 R2). Bummer to find out that they are not compatible. VWDE 2010 won't deal with a database version beyond 655, while SQL Server 2008 R2 is 661. It's puzzling that Microsoft shows the following in its Express website [URL]Powerful Set of Free ToolsMicrosoft® Visual Web Developer® 2010 Express provides you with everything you need to start building standards-friendly Web applications.SQL Server® 2008 R2 Express Edition is a lightweight, feature-rich, powerful database for your Web data-enabled needs.
Has the issue already been fixed (i.e. if I reinstall VWD 2010 Express today, will it now handle version 661 databases? Or will the issue be fixed at some point in the future? Or is it necessary (and even possible) to remove R2 and install plain SQL Server 2008 to get databases that VWDE 2010 will work with?
Can Report Viewer 2010 control be used in Visual studio 2008 (ASP.NET apps) without problems? I saw this post about it and wanted to know if this is supported and is OK.
View 1 RepliesI got VS2010 and SQL Server 2008 R2 64bit installed on a Windows Server 2008 R2, I need to execute a SSIS package from ASP.NET. From the research most people uses DTS, but it seems DTS does not support for 64bit, does anyone have a way make it working without using DTS?

View 4 RepliesI had archived all of my files prior to the change. Since I am now having a great deal of trouble working with 2010, I want to revert. My question is: If I restore all of the archived files and start 2008, will I need to make any changes to the registry or to any other files?
The problems that I am having are illusive. Some of the relative paths nolonger work. Some f the projects that had been working for 24 months no longer functions. I am having a great deal of trouble calling my older "[WebMethod]" "ASMX" services and many other issues.
I just upgraded to 2010 and converted my VS 2008 ASP.NET web application. There were no conversion errors and everything displays in the Design mode correctly but when I try to View in Browser or debug the site won't display. I just get a blank page untitled page displayed.
View 1 RepliesHave a project that was created in Visual Studio 2008 and deployed to a 64-bit Windows 2003 server. This application references a 32-bit Interop.ActiveDs.dll. The applications were originally compiled for 'Any CPU', however, explicitly compiling as 'x86' doesn't solve the problem. The project targets the 3.5 framework.
The server is running IIS 6.0 in 64-bit mode. When we deploy the version compiled in Visual Studio 2008, the app runs perfectly fine; all pages show up. In retrospect, this is actually surprising. We migrated the application to Visual Studio 2010 (we did not change the targeted framework) and redeployed. Now we get a BadImageFormatException loading Interop.ActiveDs.dll. Which actually makes more sense than the 2008 version running. To solve the problem, we set Enable32bitAppOnWin64 to true and ran aspnet_regiis.exe -i from the 32-bit folder of the 2.0 framework (as per various instructions on the web). In IIS, web service extensions, there were two versions of ASP.NET 2.0, one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit. We prohibited the 64-bit version, restarted IIS, and launched the website.
What we expected: The app to run as 32-bit, load the interop, and display
What we got: "Service Unavailable"All other web pages that were previously working displayed the same message, as did the Visual Studio 2008 version. The support page here describes the problem exactly, but tells us to do exactly what we did to resolve the problem (enable 32-bit mode). We've rolled back to 64-bit mode in IIS and deployed the Visual Studio 2008 version for now, but we really need to figure out how to make this app run and load the interop (there are also 32-bit Oracle DLLs that are referenced)Two questions:Why does the Visual Studio 2008 version work at all??
How do we get the Visual Studio 2010
How to do sum 2 differences fields as a new column in Subtotal ? I know to do in Microsoft Access and that is easier.
