View 1 RepliesI find that each time I run asp.net application in browser other than ie (safari/chrome/firefox) within visual studio, will cause all cookies on my pc deleted. This is really inconvienient since cookies contain important info on my pc. I'd like to know the solution for it.
View 5 RepliesIs it possible to embed an external application inside the browser (IE, Chrome, Safari, Firefox) so it will look like a native web application but actually having access to the USB ports of the client machine? I have heard that I need to make an ActiveX control. I would like to use the .Net framework, but if that is not possible, maybe using Java or C++ will be fine.
I have to make an application that will allow to the users to connect an external device to an USB port, this device will take a backup of the information contained in a SIM card and send it to the user's account online agenda. So the user can restore it later using the same application. This should be a web application or at least look like one.
If the first is not possible. Is there any way to launch an external application from all the browsers, and then pass information to the browser window to allow it to refresh after the backup has been made?
I am doing Automated coded ui testing in asp.net 2010 for web application. I am testing site and i need to know how can i create the test which will work with all browsers. Right now i created test in IE 8 but its not working in Firefox. So is there any way i can create one test and will work in all browser.

its works fine in firefox and ie while access that page.
but when i open this page in chrome or safari.
it does'nt do anything and no css is applying.
I've had an issue with a javascript menu not working inside an Ajax update panel after the ajax postback. I was able to solve this in IE by calling the menu js function with a pageLoad() function which is automatically called by ajax. However I then discovered it doesn't work in any other browser.
Having search around I've only found two references to the issue; one where someone else has found the same thing and another where someone states that pageLoad isn't stable in other browsers.
Is there any way to solve this issue in browsers other than IE?
Tab buttons and links are little hard to click on Firefox, Safari, Chrome. hover areas are as small as clickable area,They work perfecly well on IE
I have link for LOG IN normally(on IE) hover works and pointer changes to hand when mouse gets appoximitly one pixel range and it is clickable.
But in other browsers event LOG IN--- link works only when mause gets halfway over text(you can take dashes as referance upper part of the dash works good but buttom part is not clickable )

When I click the action link in IE the controller code runs but the div is NOT updated. Do it in ANY other browser and it works just fine. Is this (yet another) known problem/bug with IE??

I've defined node styles for my TreeView instance in markup (using <LevelStyles> for example). Everything renders correctly in IE7/8 but, when rendering in Chrome, Safari or FireFox, the styles are not being applied. From looking at the source code for the page, I can see that the various runtime css classes are being injected into the top of the page, but the class attributes on the <a> tags (within the generated TreeView HTML) are empty (class=""). In IE, the class attributes contain references to the classes that were injected into the page.
Can anyone explain why this is happening? I can see no logical explanation for this, and it's a big issue - My client primarily uses Safari, as they're Mac based.
After the implementation of ajax drag and drop, we have observed that which is working fine in IE and Firefox and not in chrome and safari, In Google chrome and Safari when we try to drag a module, the page getting scrolling to the top of the page.

I wish to use the following code (or something close) to detect the domain name and perform the customizations:

I would like to test the functionality of the above using the ASP.NET development server. I created mappings in the local HOSTS file to map [URL] to 127.0.0.1, and [URL] to 127.0.0.1. I then browse to the application with the browser using [URL] (etc).
When I try to test this code using the ASP.net development server the [URL] always says localhost. It does NOT capture the host entered in the browser, only localhost.
Is there a way to test the URL detection functionality using the development server?
i have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website).When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message.On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes.But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done.
Is that normal behaviour?I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?EDIT: it keeps running when the whole process is started in IIS

I'm trying to create a MVC project inside of VS 2010 using Asp.Net MVC 2 RC2, using all the default settings and the default "Visual Studio Unit Test" framework and am getting 6 Namespace errors upon compile (without touching ANYTHING). Pretty standard setup. I removed the prior MVC versions before installing RC2 for VS2010 etc. These are the errors:

The namespace "AWWOAMVC" is empty (or so says Intellisense). Both of these reside in the same solution explorer, as it is brand new project.
I'm going thru an asp.net 4 book, and I'm at a part about classes and their properties and functions. But up to now, all the examples involve a web_site, with controls, code_behind files, CSS, etc. But, I get to places where I don't understand the examples, so I look out on the web for other resources. For example, I found the code below to demonstrate the "ToString" function. My problem is, I'm not sure know how to test a little piece of code like this. Can't I just open up an application or project or something, paste this in and run it?

I have a WebTest that simply opens a login page, inputs a userid/password and logs in.I need this test to user a list of ten userid/password combinations.
I've already recorded this event and the Form Post Parameters display a userText and pwText entry. I assume I do something with those to accomplish that. I just don't know what.
I am for the first time checking out the Test functionality within VS 2008 Team Edition.I selected some classes for tests to be generated against. Started "Create Unit Tests" and after a short while the progression bar"Generating Test Methods..." is hung, and it has been like that for an hour.What would cause this, and how could I prevent this in the future?
View 1 RepliesI'd like to tryout ASP.NET MVC2, im using VWD2010 on Windows 7. I can't seem to be able to get the unit test dialog to pop up. I googled it and all I find is nUnit templates for VWD2008.
Anyone running into this issue with same setup as mine?
I initially installed Visual Studio 2008 Developer edition. I then installed Visual Studio 2008 Suite edition, with 2008 Developer edition still on the PC. When attempting to create a new Web Test, this option is not available to select when adding a new test in the solution.
The steps I followed:
1) Create new Project: Test Project
2) Add "New Test"
3) At this point I would expect "Web Test" to be an option, I only have Ordered Test, Unit Test, and Unit Test Wizard.
Do I need to uninstall Visual Studio 2008 and start with a clean Visual Studio 2008 Suite to get the "Web Test" option to show?

Each assembly prepares clean test data by restoring database (SQL Server):

How to force tests from one test library run in one 'packet' - I mean - all tests from A.dll, then all tests from B.dll and so on?
Now, when libraries use the same database, mixing tests from various libraries causes errors - one library restores database before test method is started from other library....
The other possibility, that I'm thinking about is to not use assembly load startup method, but restore all databases only once - before first test starts - but I don't know how to do it...
