I am developing a single web application that will dynamically change its content depending on which domain name is used to reach the site. Multiple domains will point to the same application. I wish to use the following code (or something close) to detect the domain name and perform the customizations:

I would like to test the functionality of the above using the ASP.NET development server. I created mappings in the local HOSTS file to map [URL] to 127.0.0.1, and [URL] to 127.0.0.1. I then browse to the application with the browser using [URL] (etc).
When I try to test this code using the ASP.net development server the [URL] always says localhost. It does NOT capture the host entered in the browser, only localhost.
Is there a way to test the URL detection functionality using the development server?
I am doing Automated coded ui testing in asp.net 2010 for web application. I am testing site and i need to know how can i create the test which will work with all browsers. Right now i created test in IE 8 but its not working in Firefox. So is there any way i can create one test and will work in all browser.

The error in "test run" is:
Failed ......[Class]....... Test method threw exception: System.ArgumentException: The specified named connection is either not found in the configuration that is not for use with the EntityClient provider or thought is invalid
I tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
View 1 RepliesIn Visual Studio Team Edition there is a load test tool where you can select unit tests, integration tests etc... to form scenarios which are then used in a load test session with different configurations for example varying usage levels.
Looking at for example the NUnit framework, it would be possible to develop a form of such a tool, along with a base load testing code base, but I was interested if anyone knows of any open source project which has has already done a similar thing which could then be of use for this situation and possibly extended?
I have Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition- Version 3.5 SP1 (9.0.30729.1 SP).I've noticed when working through examples they show a window, Create Unit Test Project, but that this window never appears when I follow their steps.Do I need to go somewhere and check a box so the program will give me this window?Does this mean VS2008 didn't install correctly?

View 1 Repliesi have to do some message exchange with a 3rd party (in a website).When the client posts a page, i start the message exchange. When that doesn't succeed for some reason, i report this to the client by rendering the page with a message.On the background, in a separate thread, i start a process to send abort messages to the 3rd party. I can't do this while the user is waiting for the page to come back, because it might take a few minutes.But in a test project, the test ends when the message to the 3rd party is sent, and after the new thread is started. But it seems that the new thread also ends, when the test is done.
Is that normal behaviour?I do start the thread in a new class with a reference to 2 objects from the class which tries to send the message in the first place, may that be a problem?EDIT: it keeps running when the whole process is started in IIS
Is there any tool for Visual Studio 2008 which can reformat ASPX code to make it more presentable (eg insert line breaks, format the lines so they wrap when necessary, etc)?
View 5 RepliesI'm about to start a new module in my existing web application project (already completed 3 modules), due to more data entry and volume of data handling my PM informed me to go this module on windows application (vb.net), but i'm requesting him to go with web application since i'm much familiar in web applcation and all my completed module on web.
But he is thinking on performance part too, if i get some idea / suggestion on the same so that i can clear and i will go with either option.
The module is Service Billing with LPO Control, Billing, Proforma, eBilling, eApproval, online billing etc.
I got a probem when debugging web application using VS 2008. Here is the situation:I marked two breakpoints, one in the Page_Load event and the other on the button click event. When the debugger hit the breakpoint in the page_load event, everything was fine but when it hit the breakpoint in the button click event, VS 2008 suddenly stopped debugging. It seemed that the IIS worker process was terminated.I really don't understand this situation.

If I hit refresh then the application gets no more errors until I next start it up again, any ideas?

1) Should i use mobile web controls or Asp.Net controls for new application?
2) Wy there are no mobile Templates in VS 2008? Normally Microsoft replaces the the older technology with new one, but why it has just removed it ... ?

In a Web Application project in VS08, how do you create an assembly? E.g. you derive a class based on HtmlGenericControl to form your own div, override the ClientId and UniqueId properties, so as not to get screwed up id's on the client-side, and then you want to use/reference this control in an aspx page.
refer to David Lively's answer (c# control names) regarding the same thing. I have tried his solution but I keep getting "could not load assembly file".
