Visual Studio :: Install Frontpage Server Extensions In Windows 7?
May 15, 2010
I recently installed Windows 7 in my PC.I also insyalled Visual Studio 2005 in my system.
while creating web site throgh Visual Studio 2005 IDE , it is giving error that "The Web server does not appear to have the Front page server extensions Installed".
in other words, what happens when I enable/disable FrontPage Server Extensions 2002? knowing that I have asp.net web apps using .NET framework 1.1 and 2.0
I have a site that is running on a Windows Server 2008 machine with IIS 7.0, when I try to open it with Visual Web Developer 2010, it says the following:
error: unable to open site: ... The Web server does not appear to have FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
Looking on the server Frontpage Extensions 2002 are installed, so what could be wrong?
The thing is, I used to be able to open the project and work on it, etc...
Open Website -> Remote Site -> Enter remote site name -> tries to open & error above!
try to install visual web developer 2010 from web installer,http://www.microsoft.com/express/Downloads/#2010-Visual-Web-Developer once installer screen pop up, it stated that it is not supported for windows vista platform. However, previously before formatting pc, it has successfully installed once.
I'm using Windows 7 and trying to create a HTTP website from Visual Web Developer 2010 Express. I keep getting this error:
Unable to create the Web site 'http://www.xyz.com'. The Web server doesn't appear to have FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
the FrontPage Server extensions are obsolete now and not needed anymore for ASP.net apps. I still used the aspnet_regiis.exe -i -enable command. I have the following versions of .net Framework installed on my Windows 7 machine: v1.0, v1.1, v2.0,v3.0, v3.5, and v4.0
I am using vs 2008 express. My OS is windows 7 home premium.I created a asp.net web site and it worked well. However, if I copy the web site to a remote free host space http://www.somee.com, I got an error.
I am trying to install vs 2008 on a 64 bit windows 7.
when it completes about 10% of the installation it gives me a list of error messages telling that setup has failed.I searched in microsoft communities and on the net,
installing visual studio 2010 pro RC in windows Xp SP3 and getting a message prompt : invalid windows installer package contact vendorlog file says

I tried to install Visual Studio Prof 2010 trail version in my system, but i got an error saying 'Please remove/uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' to proceed installation. i uninstalled my previous VS2008 software from system and i could not find anything like 'Remove/Uninstall Visual Studio 2010 load test controller' software in my Add/Remove Programs.
Why can I not add ScriptManager control or UpdatePanel to a page in Visual Studio 2010?The drag( or double click) just fails - it seems like there is an incompatibility somewhere?UPDATE:This is 'default' install of 2010 Ultimate on Windows7, create a web application, cannot drag ScriptManager or UpdatePanel to the designer. Typing the declarations works. The cursor changes to the [+] icon when you drag it to the right place but nothing appears to happens on 'drop', briefly the documents name has * appended, this quickly changes back to normal, either is saves or does an undo.I'm assuming something is going wrong so it undos...but what is going wrong?
I currently doing a website that require to have a report for higher management, but i cant seem to have the crystal report tool in my MS Visual Web Developer.
I'm using VS 2010 RTM and SQL Server 2008 on my clean development laptop, running Windows 7 Pro.
Using Visual Studio's Server Explorer, I can easily do an Add Connection by simply right-clicking, and then completing the dialog, and choosing "Use Windows Authentication". I can then click the button "Test Connection".
However, if I wish to do an Add Connection, and then choose "Use SQL Server Authentication", I get a message "Login failed for user 'appSlir'", as shown here:
When I try the same thing on my other development machine, which is VS 2008, SQL Server 2008, and Windows XP Pro, it works fine.
There seems to be a problem/bug that prevents Add Connection with "Use SQL Server Authentication" to SQL Server 2008, when running on Windows 7 Pro.
I'm getting ' Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.' when dragging AJAX Extention to any page.I've been uninstalling and reinstalling VS2005 whole day. Meanwhile there are no AJAX Control Toolkit in Toolbox and AJAX enabled templetes are missing.
I have created a web app using Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition and have come to the point where I need to publish the site onto my server (which is running window server 2008). I found that the publish function is not limited in the express edition, so published the app to a local file and FTP'd the contents across to my server. I then setup a website through the servers IIS manage and pointed it to the folder containing the FTP'd files.
My question is, how do I run the app? Do I need to point to a specific file?
I have tried to view a number of the files in browser directly from the IIS but keep getting the same standard connection error i.e. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
I have never used IIS Manager before and I can't find a resource which gives me a step by step guide to setting up a new site which has been created by Visual Studio 2008 Express Edition, are there any config changes needed.
I have developed one software in C# and the database used is sql server 2005. I have completed the software but now I want to provide setup in a autorun CD to my customer. I have prepare setup but I am not able to deliver my database along with my .net code. What I want to do is when user will install my project on his computer using the CD I am suppose to provide, it should install SqlServer Enterprise edition and should use this database. It may means that, setup should create database on the user computer.
I'm trying to deploy my MVC 2.0 web application to a Windows 2003 server with IIS6, and can't find the means to do it. I read about clicking Build/Deploy, but I don't have this showing on my menu, and I have the professional version.
Is there anything special to do with Windows 2008 R2 Server and Visual Studio 2010 to get Oracle quereis to work? I have the same DB Connnection.string I have used before and it works. I am at a loss here.
I had downloaded and installed VWD 2008 sp1 and registered it about 6 months ago.
Now it is again asking for the registration key.
Since I lost the previous key I uninstalled it and tried to install it afresh.
But the installer which connects to one of the MS servers and downloads the stuff is unable to connect to the server although my Internet connection is working fine.
I connect thru' aproxy server. Is that a problem? How to tackle it?
